Trigger Warning: Domestic Abuse
A small yawn wretched from Erika's mouth as she stretched at her wooden desk. No matter the shot of coffee and green tea she drank, the numbers and letters from the chemistry book before her started to blur together. Her doe brown eyes had shifted towards her alarm clock right on top of her nightstand. 2:07 AM the red numbering told her. More or less a good time to turn in for the night. It was practically useless to try and force herself to study any further when she could barely keep her eyes open. The blonde closed her book and placed it back with the rest of her study material neatly arranged on top of her desk bookshelf. Her eyes then shifted to the window. She could hear the light sheering of rain pattering outside of her window enticing her to bed. Spring certainly had a way of bringing the rain and tonight, or rather, this morning was no exception.
With no choice as her body craved for rest, she trudged into the bed, pulling her down covers over top of her body, shifting and sliding to get into a position that she deemed comfortable enough for a good night's rest. She reached out turning her beside lamp out leaving her in darkness. Sleep did not come instant to Erika. Her mind was still actively racing thinking about the events of tomorrow. How would she fair on her chemistry exam? What would she make for lunch tomorrow? She had not called or seen Emery for a little while. Would Koda want to have lunch with her? Should she make lunch for him too? The platinum blonde groaned, whipping the covers around her restlessly. She took a deep breath and decided to empty her mind. Tomorrow had the problems, questions, and answers of that time. She had to first focus on getting any form of sleep if she wanted to tackle tomorrow. Erika closed her eyes and concentrated on the rain. The soft pattering was a form of comfort for her. It was relaxing, comforting, sweet sounding. Its settling sounds had carried her off beyond the realm of consciousness.
Erika stood back in her home in London. She knew it. She could remember the small flat space. She remembered every aspect of it. The kitchen and settee downstairs. The open space of the entrance area that led up to a spiral staircase where her room was located at the very right end and her father's in the other opposite end. It was dark. Nobody appeared to be home. The blonde panicked. What was she doing here? The last thing she could remeber was falling asleep back in Aurora Academy and now, here she was, back in the last place that she never wanted to be in the first place. She walked through the flat slowly and cautiously not to make a noise. It was amazing how much her instincts from before had kicked in nearly immediately. Don't make a sound. Don't wake him up. She was dreraming. That was what was happening. A sobbing choke rose up in her throat. She felt on edge. Almost immediately, there was a clattering at the door. The sound of keys rattled the door before an eerie slam closed the door. Dirty mumblings mixed between London slang and a few unenunciated Japanese curse words were sprinkled and muddled in between. Erika's tawny eyes grew frantic. He was here and everything felt all too real. She brought her pale pink fingertips to her lips before frenziedly searching for a place of sanctuary. Somewhere she could hide.
He would immediately see her or hear her if she sprinted for the stairs. She could hear the steps languidly walking along making it their way to the staircase anyway. Good. He was heading to either his room or her room first. That would give her a few minutes for her to find a proper place to hide. The footsteps walked a bit more with a purpose almost a bit more briskly than before. He was heading to her room. Erika's eyes landed directly on one of the small, cornered storage spaces which usually held extra things inside of the house such as the family kimonos, decorations for special events such as Christmas and New Year's and the like. The blonde had quickly dove into the cramped closet as quickly as possible wrapping herself up in the kimono placing herself into a fetal position. Her breaths came out a bit more stressed. The second year was beyond frightened and was hoping that sooner or later, she would wake up from this horrid nightmare.
The door to her room clicked and slammed open. There was a slight pause before a roar erupted from the top floor. "ERRRRRIIIIIIKKKKKKKAAAAAAAA!~" the tenor voice yelled with all sorts of vitriol that could be mustered up. This was not a normal anger. Erika knew. This was a drunken anger. The worst type of anger to be in the household. She let out another choked sob. The hair on the back of the tawny-eyed girl's neck stood straight up. She could feel the sleeves of her hoodie growing damp. Tears poured out of her eyes. Any day now. Any day now she could wake up. Any time it would be morning. The steps grew deliberate as she could hear her father racing down the stairs repeating her name.
"I KNOW YOU'RE HERE YOU BITCH! COME OUT NOW!" he yelled in clear Japanese that time. She sank into the kimono cloths as she could hear him searching from one side to the other of the flat, praying to someone, anyone, that she would wake up or he would get tired of looking. The search continued on for around ten minutes before there was utter and complete silence. Nothing. Erika could hear no screams. She could hear no displacement of items. Is he asleep? the blonde questioned herself. She had not heard him gone up the stairs, but then again, the sound of her heart beating out of her chest had long since muffled the slurred yells. Erika pulled the covers away from herself slowly. She had stood and opened the door quietly to the small storage space. As she looked in both directions and further up towards the ladder, the second year saw no one there. Immediately, she bounded for the door, only to be yanked back by her hair.
Erika was dragged flimsily like a rag doll before being thrown against the wall of the kitchen. She cried out in pain clutching on to her shoulder before coming face to face with the reason why she had ran off to Aurora Academy in the first place. Her eyes widened in pure terror, tears escaping her eyes. It was her father, but at the same not. He seemed older. Wrinkles that were not there before were etched into his equally pale skin. He was losing his equally platinum blonde locks of hair. But his eyes were what frightened her the most. They seemed somewhat diluted, but there was a deranged look to his crystal blue eyes.
"I know you heard me calling you the first time." he growled into her ear before taking her once again by the hair and knocking her again and again against the sink. She screamed out in pain while pleading "I'm sorry!~" Over and over again alternating between Japanese and English to her monster of a father. She could feel a damp, irony feeling seep down from her forehead. Erika's vision grew blurry.
Please...
