i'll have you know i've come to watch you die.
It was quiet. The deathly silence in the woods on the outskirts of Aurora Academy was all too eerie for the midday sun shining down upon the forest. There should be life, birds singing, fauna scurrying along in their busy days. Instead, there was nothing, not even the breath of wind. The birds had set out a warning that death was treading among the trees to everything that had ears. Their cries wouldn't be too far off. A black robed figure wandered aimlessly among the branches, steel blue eyes scouring his surrounding taking in every fallen log, every shifting brush. There were people out in these woods, he sensed it. His soulless eyes showed there was little thought going through the boy's mind, but he was dangerous all the same. After all, he was merely a weapon, a tool to be used in a never ending struggle to make the world safer for humans. Whatever person he had once been didn't matter, he was lost-- perhaps never to be reclaimed.
Less than a week after arriving at this new place rumors had already begun to spread. Eyes had seen him walking back from the old manor several nights before, some had seen the same figure hanging around Silver Falls. Rumors of a boy who had slaughtered a school of metas spread through Aurora Academy a name whispered. Vin. How the name was discovered much less pinned to the figure of the boy that stood among the trees was a mystery in itself-- but students were known for their meddling in places they didn't belong. Knowing things that would otherwise get them killed.
Vin stopped where he stood and tilted his head. They were near.

Those who love are bound to die Your life, your choice. Neither are mine, you're on your own now, kid. TAG: All. WORDS: 207. NOTES: "What have we here...."
"This isn't creepy at all."
Aaron stood, hands in his pockets. A tall but altogether rather unassuming young man. His pack was slung over his right shoulder, his smile casually flitted over his face while his eyes showed no such mirth. The silence of the forest and this child's demeanor gave him more than enough reason to pause. His nerves were on end. What was the deal here? Stealy blues bearing ahead without care...gave him the heebie jeebies. He'd tilt his head to the side, attempting to look under the hood to catch a glimpse of the face in front of him. He furrowed his brow.
He'd not offer his hand, instead glancing around himself. Was this like...an ambush or something?
"Why're you out here all alone?"
Trying his best to glean what info he could, he made sure to keep this kid in his field of vision. This place, this atmosphere....it was all off. The school itself gave him enough pause, but now he was running weird little men on his walks. He was just trying to find a nice place to be alone, to study. Now this. He cleared his throat and let out a slow breath, waiting for an adequate reply.

I've got thick skin and an elastic heart But your blade it might be too sharp They were so many faces, she could remember every single one of them, especially the ones she had to step over as she fled Hinan. Nuria drew a sharp breath before letting her eyes open. The day was a beautiful one, no one could deny that. It had been so long since she had taken a second to admire her surroundings, but even now, her mind kept going back to that day. What had happened to the tough, resilient girl she once knew? She'd been selfish before but she'd let herself get close to others and this is where it led.
Nuria pushed herself off the tree trunk she'd been resting on. It was second nature to her to keep moving, she could never be in one spot for too long. She never knew if he was closing on on her; he could be thousands of miles away and she still would not feel comfortable. Nuria knew, deep down, that it was not the case. Something told her that what she'd been running from was quickly catching up to her. She'd been foolish to think that coming here would be a good idea. After all, he wasn't one to fail twice. Now they were all gathered at Aurora like cattle waiting to be slaughtered. They had made it too easy for him now, there was no way he wouldn't take the opportunity when it arose.
The thought of being face to face with him again caused a painful sensation in her chest. This was a familiar sensation to her now, it happened every time his face flashed through her mind. After a while, his features had began to distort. This was for the best, she admitted to herself. She would not have been able to hate him as she once knew him. His blue eyes were void of anything affection now and his sweet smile twisted into a horrific grin. Nuria inhaled again, not because she was afraid, but because she knew she was only hurting herself.
Nuria would have most definitely fallen first victim had she not been brought back to reality. The voice snapped her back to her senses in time to realize in just how much danger she was in. She couldn't see anyone, but that didn't mean they couldn't see her. Nuria took one step back, as if she could blend in to the trees behind her, but her feet snapped the fallen branches under her step. In that moment, she felt a cold shock running down her spine, this wasn't good at all.

i'll have you know i've come to watch you die.
Words were spoken and heard, but they were comprehended only on a primitive level. The teen simply blinked blankly at the man who'd spoken to him. The words were secondary to what really took his interest. He could see the flow of chi, it shone with a unique flow about the male's entire body. That would be trouble. Vin wasn't an idiot though he didn't have quite the same grasp of his faculties. Instinctively he knew that those whose chi burned brightly through their body weren't to be trifled with. Then again, his primary directive was initiated. Kill Metas. It was an order he couldn't just ignore. If his prey were the type to hold back at all this would be over too fast. No mistakes, no witnesses.
All at once he was sizing things up. At a glance he'd say the form was around twenty meters from himself with scattered trees in between obscuring vision of himself slightly. Bushes lined the ground as well as twigs and foliage. With their human senses it would naturally be difficult to see one another in the overgrowth, but difficult also to step quietly without being heard. The ground, while unsteady from time to time, was sturdy and footfalls weren't to be expected. This boy, he wasn't sure what sorts of abilities he held, simply that it had to do with his entire body. Frankly, it could be anything. He was carrying a pack which perhaps held books or other learning supplies-- until opened there was no way for him to sense what could be within.
Wait--
Another? Unexpected. There was another presence hidden among the woods, one that didn't exhibit signs of abnormality. A human? Pity. Of all places to be it had to be here. His thoughts were collected. The male before him was his primary target, threat level high. The figure off some thirty meters away to the side would be a secondary target, threat level undetermined. A small breath of air was released in a quiet hiss before Vin ducked down, bolting off toward his prey. Brush and tree would cover his advance as he rapidly closed the distance. It took him three seconds to do so. A soft flash of blue materialized in Vin's hand, a dagger taking shape and solidifying during the advance. The young teen would feint to his right and quickly send out a backhanded slash at the other's throat.
Vin wasn't simply another want-to-be martial artist, he was a weapon in himself. His movements were fluid and precise and there was a quickness about him that often surprised many a military-grade professional. His body movements and even the subtle shift of his eyes were weapons used to shift attention away from his real strike. Yet for such a trained assassin this was a very straight forward approach to be taking with knowledge that his opponent was a meta. Such a straight forward attack wasn't Vin's style. The blue flash of light wasn't simply to arm himself, but to take attention off the light that materialized some ten meters behind Vin's prey. Three daggers would shoot out shotgunning in a small spread for his target's back. The daggers would seek to find their mark a mere second before the slash would connect.

War is a hell of a thing Try to fight it, try to run. But it's arm is long, and you're just what it needs. TAG: all. WORDS: XXX. NOTES: "To the death? But I just got here..."
Aaron recognized that gaze.
That posture.
Threat assessment.
His eyes narrowed, and he would bring the left hand that had been in his pocket out and up, palm facing outward in order to ward off whatever this boy was thinking. He opened his mouth to speak, and though he seemed quite relaxed his body was coiled like a viper. Then, before the green eyed male could talk this situation down, the boy would attack straight forwardly. Aaron wasted little time- he learned hard lessons often, and one of those was to never waste the opportunity to set yourself up for a defensive position, and never assume another persons intent. His backpack would be brought down a second after V started off and would be hurled straight at the attacking blonde, Aaron hoping the young males attack speed coupled with his own enhanced strength would cause instant impact, hopefully leveling his opponent or at the least disrupting his attack formation.
At the time of release, and regardless of whether the pack hit or not, Aaron would leap straight up, powerful legs flexing to launch him far higher than he'd normally be able to jump, his left hand snatching out above him to grab a thick limb. He'd fold his feet to the side to plant against the tree, his eyes taking in the daggers this kid had meant for his spine.
"He's....trying to kill me?"
Where the fuck did the find these people? Or rather....where did they find him? Was he after his fathers research?
Aaron would shout down, being that he was about fifteen feet in the air, his voice warily trying to stall or halt the smaller males advance.
"Stop this! Now!"
He had yet to notice the female.

i'll have you know i've come to watch you die.
A loud crack split a tree open showering the hooded teen with splintering wood. It was a deafening display of power that a book bag would cause so much damage, the noise resounding through the forest. Vin staggered to the side, his initial attack thwarted. He could sense the chi of his target hanging up in a tree above. It wasn't difficult for Vin to realize what the glowing of his body meant. His strength was unmatched, a trait that didn't bode well for the blonde haired, blue eyed youth. Then again, the other was keeping his distance, even going so far as to hang himself in a tree like a monkey-- what an odd fellow. Vin walked out into the open, his head tilting back for his piercing gaze to rest squarely on his hanging adversary. His hesitation would mean his death.
Tch. More words. As though he hadn't already learned that they were falling on deaf ears. Vin's cold eyes watched as he spouted more pacifist nonsense. If this boy was going to still remain passive then there was nothing for Vin to do but to continue attacking. A light would materialize a few meters away from the hanging boy, the object spinning rapidly. As it neared it would take the shape of a hefty battle ax set on separating his adversary's hands from his wrists if he were too slow to react. Of course he wouldn't be, they never were too slow. He was curious what sort of strategy this was. The branch seemed to already be under enough pressure let alone using it for any type of stable hold to create momentum with, such a flimsy thing seemed like it would break at the wrong moment.

War is a hell of a thing Try to fight it, try to run. But it's arm is long, and you're just what it needs. TAG: @vin . WORDS: XXX. NOTES: "Now it's on." The blonde refused to answer, so Aaron was left with little choie but to put the blue eyed demon down. Jerking hard and sharp on the limb, it would snap harshly, Aaron whipping it down to try and smash it onto Vin. He'd keep his other hand steady, intent to watch out for any more of those fucking weapons. The limb was about ten feet long, but with his strength it's added branches posed no real threat to him.
Knowing this kid was some sort of, what, super assassin? Well, it did little to make Aaron feel better about fighting him. He was more than adept at fighting styles, and could hold his own against just about anyone. But it didn't make him any less wary about fighting an opponent that could trade hands on a similar level. Once the branch hit either Vin or the ground, he'd release it, still in a low crouch. This would put him and the blonde at close quarters. In his own opinion that meant his advantage for sheer power reasons. His disadvantage was that, unlike Vin, he'd have to focus on more than just the one standing in front of him.
Lest he end up a human pincushion.

i'll have you know i've come to watch you die.
Vin tilted his head as he watched. The boy somehow managed to get leverage on the branch to snap it into some sort of a flimsy polearm, one that as it rebounded by the force required to break it would bring it into range of the battle ax's quickly advancing path. A shink would split the wood effortlessly and fly to slice cleanly through the trunk of the tree causing the top half to topple over. The wisps of light would flicker out as the battle ax faded from reality. As Vin's opponent would register the deviation in his plan, a blue light would materialize above him. Long, thin, a vorpal blade would point downward gleaming in its descent upon his suspended prey. The long spear would bury itself into the unsuspecting boy's back causing him to gain velocity, the spear would slam the boy into the ground some ten feet from Vin with a thud.
That would be the end of it.
It would be a short fight, one that seemed less a fight and more cat and mouse, but the blonde would keep a little distance between them. Though he was certain that last attack would finish the job, he couldn't be too careful. The boy was a meta after all, and the last glimmer of chi hadn't faded from his body yet. Vin turned his head toward the other figure some distance off. Now it was time to eliminate the witness.

[nospaces] [attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"]“C’mon, c’mon dearie were losing sunlight. Sunlight is precious these days!” A voice cheerfully broke through the quiet stillness brought about by the sea of trees. Silence… aside from the gentle ruffle coming from the flowing winds whistling through the trees. It was…too peaceful for her. Peace meant boredom. Boredom… her thoughts paused to allow a shiver to cross through her spine despite her façade of an innocent young noble woman the girl’s blood begged for anything that wasn’t peaceful serenity. The mere thought of it sickened the child, where was the excitement? Certainly there wasn’t one around here. [break][break] A curious escapade was what drew her to the place. All brought into a package caused by having to do group work in art class. Speaking of which, the young blondette casually twirled on her heels to face the second soul following behind her heel. The young boy’s expression mirrored someone who would rather be anywhere but where they were headed. Blank, mixed into a neutral mask more appropriately placed on a boulder instead of a human being. The child could give a few of her associates a good lesson in how to keep a pokerface. Rayne chuckled, knowing clearly well she was the cause of her partner’s current ire. “It is for art dear Kat? May I call you that?” She asked, lowering her tone into a demurred purr as she skipped ahead. “Or do you want to be called Yuri? Or Kanazaki? You Japanese have so many rules on names.” She blabbered on. [break][break] The boy made no move to reply, merely clutching onto ‘his’ sketchpad as their footsteps walked deeper into the woods surrounding the campus. Come to think of it, it’s been awhile since she last took a step out into the woods. The girl thought. Mulling over the last time she actually took a moment to leave her room. Or the last time she didn’t venture off to find a secluded napping spot when her other areas keeps getting discovered. She nearly succeeded blocking out Rayne’s insistent chatter. She nearly did until she collided onto the girl in question. She blinked, instinctively moving back to give their bodies the much needed space she needed until she tossed a questioning gaze back towards the girl. [break][break] “….What’s wrong now?” she gruffly asked, lowering her own tone not because of not wanting to make noise but due to the lack of motivation in expending energy just to make herself be heard. Rayne hadn’t replied, instead her gaze remained transfixed onto the surrounding tall pines. There was…a chill in the air, instincts long honed into the family art of collecting life whispered through her ears to remain alert. Some might call it paranoia but… the child instincts rarely proved her wrong. [break][break] “What’s wrong?...” The question repeated itself snapping the older blond to glance down to the younger. Younger by a month but wasn’t important. “Hmm? Oh nothing.” Rayne shook her head. Earning a tentative rose eyebrow Katya before the female grabbed onto the younger ‘male’s hand. “Hmm now lets see… You’re so slow I thought boys were supposed to be quicker than this?” She winked, another eyebrow threatened to join the raised one when Rayne all but dragged a reluctant Katya to follow her heels. “There’s a quaint little well I could sit on and you could sketch, I’m sure that should suffice for…’anything that includes nature theme’ we have for today. And then I can sketch you right afterwards hmm?” She didn’t give the boy any chance to reply when she all but dragged him. Katya was but trying to wrestle her wrist out of the girl’s grip, stating that she could follow on her own but Rayne wasn’t giving her that chance. Instead she sighed, admitting defeat for the sake of her sanity. If she knew what was about to happen she would have actually tossed the notion away and actually pried her arm out of the woman’s grip before making a dead bolt back to the school. [break][break] Anything to save her sanity… She wasn’t sure if there was a way to save her sanity. Each route ended up the same in her eyes. If only she knew… but she hadn’t which is how… she probably attracted trouble like a misled lover would. Rayne’s eyes darted from left to right, hiding under the guise of searching for the location but in reality the girl was testing her surroundings. Waiting for something to jump within their sights. Nothing came aside from a few squirrels who fled upon seeing the two humans. There were no birds… that itself caused somewhat of an alarm for her. It was a silent signal that something was going on. Her companion didn’t seem to notice anything, probably confusion as to why he was being dragged out of the beaten path. She stifled a chuckle at the thought. [break][break] A few more steps, a few more until she noticed a figure crouched by a few shrubs. She felt her companion stiffen under her grip. So he saw her too, though questions arose to him just being a skittish around people or something else. She always made it her business to pry. But the child… she took a chance to look back, peering through the edge of her vision where she saw the boy indeed was staring straight ahead. [break][break] ” Drop the knife young lady!.” [break][break] ”VIN DID YOU LET HER COOK?!” [break][break] The words trailed after an image of a dark haired female. Her hair styled up into half pigtails with the rest of her hair flowed freely. Expressive eyes that often foretold her emotions. She remembered her…how could she not? How could she forget another soul whom she allowed in but never got a chance to talk again. Her mouth went dry. The mask she had on struggled to maintain itself as shock soon chilled her nerves. One name ran itself into her mind. Nuria… Nuria…was here. [break][break] How?! [break][break] As soon as the shock stilled questions began flooding it. Her legs still felt paralyze until she all but kicked herself into gear. [break][break] The emotions fighting through the girl’s mask wasn’t unnoticed by Rayne. She actually smirked somewhat triumphantly in thinking she succeeded in tearing down the boy’s poker face expression. But really she was just giddy at seeing another poker face crack out of sheer dumb luck. So they did know each other. Rustling echoed around them soon broke the child’s own thoughts followed by the sound of clashing. A fight? Really? At a time like this? Someone up there finally listened to her pleas then.
[break][break] “Hmmm? Whats wrong Kitty-kunnn?” She asked, raising her tempo to mimic a whining child as she moved closer to the crouched female. She gave no chances for Katya to run, instead she practically dragged her over to the hiding girl. “Arent you a bit too old to be playing hide and seek?” The girl chirpily asked, once she was behind the female. Fully intending to surprise the shit out of her before another sound caught her attention. The clashing of metal. She wasn’t dumb not to recognized the sound as she gaze up towards two figures clearly in a brawl of their own. One…clearly intending to cleave the life out of the other judging from the way he had a pole arm ready to impale the man.
[break][break] To jump in or… let such precious blood stain the forest. She had been getting bored. But that also meant breaking character. She weighed in her choices, before she glanced around, searching through the ground until her eyes landed on a rock wedged closed to a bush. Perfect… might as well goad the bull right? She mused, walking over to pry the stone out of the soil. She took careful aim at the hooded figure. Really… a cloak, was he pretending to be some villain? There can only be one villain in the campus. She harrumphed. In one graceful aim as though she was wielding a dart she let it fly from her palm, aiming to hit the man right at his temple. Hopefully the boy would use the distraction to save himself from… turning into a human skewer.
[break][break] An icy chill wrapped around Katya’s spine. It was like walking into a dream she wasn’t sure she was going to wake up from, but the second she looked towards the hooded stranger her stomach feel. One name slid out from her stunned lips. “Vin…” She whispered, too stunned before she forced a grip upon her own mask locking it back into place as she looked around for a way to leave. She can’t be seen… she didn’t know what was going on with the guy whos memories of him always seem to be filled with life but there was something different about him..she wasn’t sure if this was the same guy anymore.

War is a hell of a thing Try to fight it, try to run. But it's arm is long, and you're just what it needs. TAG: None. WORDS: XXX. NOTES: "Enter the stone thrower..."
This kid felt he was better- he could tell. That smug look of superiority was something Aaron dealt with his entire life.
He made a living on the bodies of those that gave him looks like that.
With the ax shaving his weapon in half, Aaron's plan B would kick in. Earlier when he first jumped, he planted his feet against the tree. This would make downward descent easy, his attack with the branch even easier. However, it also meant he'd have a piece of maneuverability while in the air- for the same thing that would give him the leverage to rip the limb off would also be the thing to save him from a response attack in the air. He wanted that option, in case this boy came launching up to meet him.
So, those legs would bend and kick out against the lower half of the tree in an explosive manner, propelling him straight forward above V as his useless tree branch would be released, thrown down at the blonde. Though large in form, he was agile, ready for just such an response as he knew how dangerous taking to the air could be. What he didn't count on was a spear in the back. Aaron had kicked off the tree, his legs extending outward. The spear, unbeknownst to him, had been conjured too quickly for him to notice or avoid and would slam brutally into the rear thigh muscle. It's tip would puncture a half inch into his skin, and since his body was flying up and forward, it would slice down and back another half inch toward the back of his knee.
"AAAAUG FUCK-!"
Aaron couldn't remember a time when something broke his skin, let alone sliced him enough to cause serious spouting of blood. He'd turn in the air, curling his back so it would smash into the tree opposite him, his body sliding down as the spear would be sent flinging off course. He'd promptly grip his leg hard, squeezing to cut off the circulation. At the same time, he'd look to V, attempting to figure out where the kid was, and what was happening to him.

i'll have you know i've come to watch you die. As the spear crashed down and the ax cleaved its way through the tree's trunk Vin felt something that was unexpected to say the least. Perhaps he'd been too focused on this boy who was leaping around the tree like a monkey, but he finally noticed two more chi figures approach the other that was currently 'hiding'. Trouble. Only one glowed with the power of chi as well, another full body, the other was like the first and didn't seem to have a power. Still, it seemed far likelier to Vin now that every one of them was a meta-- why were there so many in one place? These were questions that simply didn't cross his mind as he made a decision. It was far safer to retreat and recoup than to continue fighting. He could have taken this one with time, but he had run out of it. Still, it would be a pity to leave without leaving something to remember him by. An eyebrow twitched as one of the figures hurled a rock his way. So, they were hostile as well. He would need to finish this quickly. The boy jumped into the air and spun, a leg extended to connect with the rock mid air before redirecting it at the head of the fallen boy. upon landing he pushed off the ground, his form bounding up to a reasonably thick tree branch where he leaped again to disappear into the trees above. Above the trio on the ground a plethora of lights flashed into existence each a blade arcing dangerously down to the ground. Each blade would hit the ground a foot away from its target surrounding them in a hail of metal, caging them behind large, heavy swords. Dodging through the sword's crisscrossing path would probably be more dangerous than standing still. He knew it wouldn't hold them for long, however every second he could buy himself counted. A shadow streaked along the ground as he leaped over the small clearing they were standing in, a shining gleam leaving his hand. The small whistle of air was the only tell of its advance as the dagger he had first summoned would aim to strike the figure who had thrown the rock on the shoulder. Vin landed expertly, rolling as his feet made contact with the ground. He would skid to a stop and look back briefly, his blue, empty eyes examining his handiwork.

War is a hell of a thing Try to fight it, try to run. But it's arm is long, and you're just what it needs. TAG: @vin. WORDS: XXX. NOTES: "We're not done." The rock would hit Aaron harshly in the left pectoral, dull pain barely registering past the agony in his thigh. This boy he was fighting....he conjured weapons as though it were second nature. He didn't seem phased, tired or uncertain. Despite not expecting it, he'd kicked a stone out of the air, aiming it for Aaron, all while summoning a plethora of swords to surround two individuals Aaron didn't even know existed. Was he a machine? Aaron had immense strength and stamina, and had done much less but was far more wounded.
The larger male would, as Vin turned to look at his handiwork, be tying his shirt around his upper thigh to step the bleeding. The pain wouldn't be so much the issue as the blood loss, so he dealt with the latter first. Pushing himself back to his feet, now bare chested, Aaron made an assumption. As long as he protected his head and neck-
Launching forward off his good leg, Aaron would attempt to close the small gap between them quickly. He expected yet another attack from behind- the guy was aiming to finish quickly in a kill, and the easiest method would be to aim for the throat or spine. So Aaron brought his left hand up to the level of his eyes while his right would attempt to palm Vin's face, lift him a few feet off the ground and slam him back into the earth, lowering his body into a staunch crouch as he did so.

I've got thick skin and an elastic heart But your blade it might be too sharp Nuria should have listened to her initial instinct and ran far, far away from this place. She never should have stopped running, she had no one to blame but herself. Even from where she was trying to hide, she had full access to the fight that erupted. The Nuria from before would have ran to help Aaron, but she was long gone. All that was left was a coward thinking only of herself. When she finally brought herself to look at the hooded figure, her breath caught in her throat and she could feel her heart dropping to the pit of her stomach. He was here. Had her luck really ran out so soon? She knew sooner or later she'd have to face him, but did it have to be now?
Run, was all she could think to herself in the moment. The flashback of that day ran in her mind again. He had stood over her and he was only one attack away from killing her, but he didn't. Nuria didn't know what had stopped him. Maybe some part of him had tried to fight against his instincts, maybe he was still in there. Even if he was in there, Nuria had to remind herself that she could never forgive anyone for doing what he did.
So she was going to run, until a high voice boomed in her ear. Nuria gasped and quickly turned around. Two blondes stood behind her, one of them was all too familiar. Sure, the hair was a little different, but she could recognize those eyes anywhere. Kat. It had to be Kat. She fought the urge to throw her arms around the girl... who now looked more like a guy.... What was she doing here? Nothing made sense anymore, it was all too much too soon.
Before she could even move an inch, the world came crashing down. Or at least blades fell from the sky. There had been no indication to warn her, but she should have expected this much from him. Her luck had not ran out yet, as it turned out. She stood still, the sharp blades mere inches away from her face. There was nowhere to run now. It was either stay still and wait for death or fight until the very end.
"Stop!" Nuria's voice rang loud and clear, but she knew that even if he heard her, he wasn't going to stop. He had been in there before, she knew it, was he still there?
"Vin." This was the first time she had let the name escape from her lips in over a year. It sounded so foreign, like she had never said it before. She hated him, really, but as much as she did, she couldn't help but choke up when she said it. Nuria was gone, there was no fighting this anymore. She was going to die here, unless someone else was willing to put up a fight, because she sure wasn't.

[nospaces] [attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"]Blood stained the grounds, flowing freely from the elder male’s wound. Bloody crimson stained the vibrant greenery. She got her wish. Rayne mused finding the mere notion of irony lingering within the thought. A wish she begged reprieved from the boredom lady luck instead gave her a blood bath. She huffed in annoyance as she noted her mark failed to reach the nimble cloaked figure. He was fast, she’ll give him that. Those weren’t exactly reflexes one would find on a normal teenager. The bloody queen’s eyes narrowed. Blue orbs hid the bloodlust roaring behind a cage all to maintain her damsel in distress façade she hid behind. The only luck was both these boys were producing their own intent to maim one another. It gave hers the chance to hide underneath the roaring bloodlust filtering through the air. [break][break] “Oh poo, I missed.” She gave the show of a childish pout marring her doll like appearance. Those very same blue orbs hardly glanced back at the two beside her instead they choose to maintain its presence on the two boys on the ground. She had watched him impassively as he shoved his weapon into the flesh of the darker haired male before disappearing into the nearby forestry. He hadn’t left, not by a long shot. She could still sense his lingering presence prowling through the thickets. If she couldn’t then she’d be shaming the Valentine name if she cant track a measly presence of another note worthy person whom thrived in the same game she played. [break][break] Her lips curled at the end, fighting back against the smirk that threatened to show itself onto her mask. It wouldn’t do to smirk now, to allow the satisfaction of minor amusement she gleamed from their show to appear on her face. Not when… clearly it wasn’t a play to watch for entertainment for the others around her. That’s the difference between her and normal minds, they cant appreciate the value of good entertainment. Suddenly the rustling of the wood caught her attention, that faint swish of an object cutting through air all but triggered her alarms. Instincts screamed at her to dodge but for once she made no move to snap into action. Aside from snapping her neck upwards to watch the volley of bladed weaponry rain merciless above them… [break][break] Move move…. [break][break] Katya’s mind echoed the same sentiments, images fought their way into her mind. Regaling her of all memories flashing back within her eyes. Triggered by the vision of raining blades. It was too early, she tried begging herself to run. To leave and never look back. It was too early to knock at the past she tried pushing back. She saw the look Nuria had when she glanced her way. Recognition flashed through those amber orbs. There was no way she could convince her that she wasn’t the person she knew was there? A tempting thought for the girl but she pushed it back. Choosing to keep her focus on the situation at hand. Just as she had learned. She thought bitterly, The bitterness was coming back trailing after the reawakened past. Those were pushed back too, back enough that it wouldn’t touch the girl’s neutral façade. She wanted to run but it was as if her body forced her into another form of action. She still remembered the bond she gained with her former roommate despite it being more than a year since they last saw each other face to face. She hadn’t known what forced her to quickly hug the older ravenette, trying to shield her from most of the attack. She didn’t possess a larger frame. What she could manage was mere miniscule of what a larger bodied person twice her size would be able to do. [break][break] Still she tried though. Honestly the girl probably had a death wish on her the way she was willing to be a shield to repay the kindness Nuria offered her back then. She really… didn’t care for self preservation as much as she should. [break][break] They were waiting for a hit, aside from the long haired blondette whom merely backed towards them as the blades followed gravity’s call to fall down on them. They waited for the hit but none came remotely close to piercing into their bodies. Unless they could call the earth their bodies… Which is what the blades pierced into. Mere inches from their own mortal coils. Katya almost uttered a yelp when one particularly sharp sword landed inches from her face, she instantly scrambled back off Nuria only to back against another blade. They were…for the lack of better term trapped in a cage made out of swords. [break][break] This…was Vin alright… Nuria all but verified it. But why…why was he acting like this?! Kat wanted to shout at him but she held back her own tongue. Nuria already beat her to it, instead she maintained her own silence until she spotted a blade heading straight for them particularly her supposed art partner. “Watch out!” She called out a warning. [break][break] Look out… look out. [break][break] The girl’s own warning rang through her ears as Rayne glanced unfazed to the upcoming projectile heading her way. To dodge… no that wouldn’t be too easy given how little space they were given within this bladed trap. Or get hit… this wouldn’t be the first time someone tossed a blade aiming for her. She had to face the same treatment back home and this was nothing compared to what her family called ‘training.’But that also meant... pulling out a weapon. What to do what to do... she mumbled as she made her choice. She did... absolute nothing, lifting one of those 6ft blades was out of the question. Frankly the effort just wasnt worth what she could accomplish in the long run. Play as the defenseless young babe it was then. She harrumphed before waiting for the impending collision.

I’m Still Breathing, She could feel the same sensation run over her skin, the same energy prickle behind her neck making the hairs stick up. She knew it well, had to fuse with it on many occasion and that meant that she always knew when it, no he, was close. That’s what had her running as fast as she could through the woods by the school, Artemis knew his aura and right now she knew his intent. It was to kill. The question was, would she make it in time?
**Flashback**
“Vin stop moving your chi around. It’s hard enough to expand my own let alone attach it to you!” Artemis was trying to practice moving her aura from her own body and surround it around his, her negation ability would then coat over him making him immune to most magical onslaught. It wasn’t like her and Vin hadn’t tried this before but rather it was for a different reason, it was for the destruction of other meta’s like herself but what was she to do, they had her brother and she was here with Vin. She had accepted his request to take these bastards down from the inside out…but things had changed. He had changed. He had blackmailed her by taking the very thing she cared about and using it against her, her brother. Now, she was stuck here training to fight her friends at Hinan.
**End**
Her mind was playing tricks on her, on moment she was in the woods and the next she was reliving a time she hated most. She despised what Vin did to her but she would never let that beat her. Above the sun was fading and clouds had rolled over head, almost like they were snapping at Artemis’ heels as she run. Either pushing her on or chasing her, symbolic of everything she had been running from. Then the heavens opened and she felt the rain, with each step in seemed to weigh her down as if mocking her inability to stop him when she had the chance all that time ago. The roar of thunder could be heard followed by the crack of lightening as it streaked out across the sky. For the briefest of moments, she was privy to more of the woods and what lay ahead of her. Feeling more than just his aura now she pushed herself harder, told herself to run faster because it wasn’t just his she felt anymore. It was others, and some that were all too familiar.
**Flashback**
“Why are you in my bed?” Arte looked at Kat with a rather bored expression, ever since she agreed to room with both Kat and Nu she hadn’t been able to get a decent night sleep. Not to mention the boys across the hall from them, Callum, Dartz and Vin. Honestly why did she agree to this in the first place? “Cos its warmer and I was freezing” Kat gave Artemis her cutest, although sleepy smile followed by a yawn. To which Artemis just rolled her eyes and went to the couch. It was like this almost every night…if she was lucky Kat wouldn’t just get up and snuggle her on the couch.
**End**
Was it the wind picking up or was it her aura flaring the closer she got? In the end, she realised it was her aura, her getting closer to him had an instant reaction. When she had first moved her aura to surround him she had to form a connection, an unbreakable bond that meant she would know him always as if he was a part of her own design. Why? Because she had to leave traces of herself in his own aura to make that connection, the type of connection that Drakon had wanted of them. Drakon wanted them to be the perfect killing team, in sync with each other in every way and unstoppable because it was as if two minds were one. Every mission Drakon sent them on, they never failed. But every mission Drakon sent them on meant more of Artemis died. In the end she had no choice but to abandon Vin, Dartz had helped her and she would be forever in his debt for it.
**Flashback**
Vin breathed evenly, his eyes fixed on his sparring partner. No distractions. It wasn't a real fight, to be certain, but that wasn't cause for treating it as anything less. The long-haired brunette was reaching out to him feeling his aura, trying to find a weakness in his guard. He struggled but she had always been better at this than he. Still, in terms of a straight up fight he knew he held the advantage. All there was to do was exploit his strengths. Blades clashed and Chis flared. It was always like this, the heat of the moment catching up to him, swallowing him. There was little thought behind his actions, it was a dance and each held their part as they weaved back and forth exchanging rapid blows, their swords gleaming as torchlight reflected off their blades. The clashing of metal or metal reverberated through the subway tunnel. It wasn't a Drakon base of operations, but it was nearby and abandoned, a perfect place for them both to practice to hone their skills.
Their practices naturally lasted until one yielded. Naturally that was normally Vin. He wasn't a slouch in the duels to be sure, but he didn't want to put her in such a position again. He had already enlisted her help through less than appropriate means and it left a bad taste in his mouth. Using her brother against her-- that was something dad would do. “Like father like son” Vin thought to himself bitterly. Besides, Arte's pride wouldn't let her admit it, even if she were on the threshold of defeat. It was something he respected in his partner.
**End**
It was cruel. She had his memories much like he had hers when they were near each other. Drakon was cruel for doing it to them, for making her connect so deeply with Vin that traces of their memories flooded into one another. But in a sick way it was perfect too. She was close, so close that she could now see the blades fall from the sky and strike the ground around 3 people. Two of which it was painstakingly obvious she knew. She didn’t call out to them, there wasn’t any time. Artemis had to assess everything, her training from so long ago kicked in and she wasn’t Artemis anymore – she was a killer.
Her eyes darted quickly, she could see the boy she had been partnered up to spar against charging at Vin – blood pouring from his limp leg as he forced it to move the way he wanted. Idiot. Next it was the dagger hurling its way over the three in the cage. To be honest, in her mind she had little care for the girl standing because she could sense her auras hidden intent, that girl wasn’t sweet at all. But it was for the sake of the other two that Artemis did what she did next.
Charging along the ground she moved to the right, jumping from a large rock she used her chi, just like Vin taught her, to give herself the added burst to gain enough height to reach the dagger. With one swift and extremely precise movement she had performed and aerial kick, her foot connecting with the dagger and sending it flying to the ground in front of Nu but outside the cage wall.
When Artemis hit the ground in a low crouch she used her momentum to push off the ground again, one would have thought she was aiming for Vin but she wasn’t. Her body passed his and in that moment, they exchanged looks – he knew who she was even if he still happened to be a machine, he’d always know her aura. It was short lived though as Artemis brought her hand up into a fist and swung in neatly at Aaron, connecting with his jaw and sending him back towards the ground. It was only then she stopped, her form towering over Aaron and her back to Vin. Her aura had caused her hair to whip about her face, it was flared and waiting to grow even bigger to envelop Vin if she needed it to. The rain doing nothing to keep it down.
Looking down at Aaron, her words were cold. “Don’t be stupid. You are bleeding more than you know and he would kill you in one move if I had let your stupid decision follow through.” She tilted her head to the side so she could glance at Vin over her shoulder “Besides, with me around you know what my ability does to yours.” She let the words hang in the air as she turned to face the very person that destroyed everything she cared about. “Vin.”
