Soft, padded shoes clacked quietly upon the hard surface which the roof top was constructed of. Stepping into the glow of the dying afternoon light Vala stretched her stiff limbs. Arching her back a welcoming cracking of her spine allowed for a brief relaxation with the stress of the day flowing away. Arriving at the school she had thought it would be a piece of cake. Back in her tiny home town she was the straight A student who could have been mocked as being a nerd; of course those that did quickly learned as to why such a thing was a bad idea. Here at the academy it made her old school like the stone ages. This wasn't to say that Vala was failing any of her classes. In fact she found the accelerated learning exhilarating. However, it taxed her system quite a deal more than expected. Now her muscles were stiff, joints ached, and there was a great sleep debt she carried around. Had there been the option she would have been tucked deep under her covers by now allowing sleep to take her away in waves. Much like her life before the academy had its own schedule and if sleep came now it would mess her up for the rest of the week. With that in mind, and finding some free time in her day Vala sought a place of comfort. Somewhere isolated, tranquil where her mind could be at ease for the first time in a week.
Shielding her eyes with the back of her hand Vala scanned the roof looking for any signs of life. Being later in the day she hadn't expected there to be another in sight. Most likely they were studying, or out grabbing dinner. From her initial glance there wasn't a soul to be seen allowing for Vala to sigh gently to herself. It wasn't as if another person there would have bothered her much. The roof was a large area; so much so that it even had a green house. Part of her had the idea to check the glass framed building to see if she were truly alone, but then passed on the idea.
"If someone is here then there is little to be done." Vala convinced herself with a reassuring nod of the head.
Cowering away from the sun's wraith Vala took cover behind a wall that shielded her from the last breaths of the day. There she took a moment to lean against the wall and began to search through the small book bag that was strapped over her shoulder. Digging around for a few moments she eventually recovered a packet of cigarettes, along with a engraved silver lighter. The habit was a relatively new one that she picked up on from high class business men she spent... "time" with. At first it was merely to fit in with those she scammed but after some time Vala found it rather appealing. While not a chain smoker she found that nothing else calmed her down after a long day like a good smoke. Pulling one of sticks out of the packet she placed it between her lips and flicked the lighter open in one swift motion. Playing with the striker a few times she finally managed to bring a flame to life and ignite the cigarette. With a deep inhale of the bitter, yet smooth smoke Vala could already feel the stress falling from her body like melting snow.

Kami Medama When someone utters "LIFE IS HARD" I am always tempted to ask, "COMPARED TO WHAT?" TAG @vala Edgy Teen Is very edgy NOTES Vala, one good succ plz :3 | The day had been a long and painful day for Kami as he had spent most of the day training himself with his powers. He was still terrified of his telekinesis and was trying to master this power. So in order to gain some control over it and make sure it didn't go haywire and kill someone he had spent the day using it on the titanium orbs he had acquired while snooping through some of the teachers stuff. He had been using his telekinesis to force them to spin around him and fly through the air where he wanted them to go. He had been getting pretty good at it when he heard Vala approach. He quickly jumped off the side of the roof and used his telekinesis and metallumkinesis to stick himself to the wall by having the metal wrap around his wrists and ankles before stabbing into the wall holding him up. After waiting a bit he smelt the smell of cigarettes and assumed it was one of the teachers, knowing he wouldn't get in trouble he jumped back onto the roof and to his surprise saw a ginger haired teenage not much younger than him there. "Um, why are you up here smoking?" He asked slightly curious but also on edge and ready to get away.

Holding back the smoke which filled her lungs Vala's eyes shut away from the rest of the world. Heading spinning gently as if being rocked by crystal waves of a vast ocean she mentally sighed. Allowing for another moment to pass she let out a drawn out exhale leaving a nearly clear mist of grey flowing from her mouth.
"Now that's more like it." She spoke to herself before bringing the smoldering cigarette back to her lips. The yellowed filter didn't have time to brush against her skin before a sudden shadows formed out of the corner of her eye. Insistently she frozen in place much like a deer caught in a car's head lights. Springing from seemingly no where a man, perhaps a few years her senior appeared off to her side. His sudden arrival mirrored that of a phantom, not there one second and then out of no where there he stood as if being there all along. Had Vala never visited the academy she might be confused by this, but slowly the shock which came so suddenly disappeared. Relaxing to see that this blond haired youth was probably another student she placed her back against the wall once more.
At his question Vala found her brow raise just an inch.
"Because they won't let me smoke in the dorm." Vala responded with a matter-of-fact tone.
"Besides-" She paused to take swift drag from the cigarette allowing for the ember to burn a deep orange.
"I didn't think there would be another up here... it seems.... I was mistaken." Her sentences broken into thoughtful pauses.
Exhaling once more the soft grey smoke expelled from her lungs giving her a moment to look the boy up and down discreetly. It was then that she noticed he was on the edge as if any second he would make a dash for the nearest exit. It was this that caused a sly grin to spread across her lips.
"Are we in a hurry?" Vala questioned eyeing him with some obscurity.
"Your a perched bird; ready for flight. As if you expect this little lady here to be any threat to a strapping, young man as yourself. I am little more than a kitten compared to your mountain like form." She paused with the slightest cock of her head.
"Relax. There is nothing to fear from me... other than this bad habit." Glancing down at her smoke she allowed for a light hearted giggle to tear from her mouth.
"Now that I find myself in company it would be rude not to offer my guest a refreshment. Though I fear all I have to offer is conversation and a smoke." With that Vala would reach down for the packet of cigarettes and offer then to the blond.
"There will be no hurt feelings if you turn them down. They are not for every soul..." Again she paused to take another drag and then release it.
"-though this soul quite favors them."

Kami Medama When someone utters "LIFE IS HARD" I am always tempted to ask, "COMPARED TO WHAT?" TAG @vala WORDS count here NOTES Vala, one good succ plz :3 | Kami watched the girl in front of him, ready to jump back off the roof if needed. He knew she liked it but he didn't care, it wasn't for his safety but for her own. He didn't want to kill someone on accident again. When she mentioned thinking she was alone he sighed and let his guard down but only slightly. "Because you were until I thought you were a teacher. I had come out here and spent the day learning how to keep my telekinesis under control. I got it to the point I could keep myself at the wall for a few minutes before launching myself up here." He said with a disinterested look on his face. He didn't know what it was but something about this girl set him on edge. He didn't like it and was ready to make whatever move he needed to avoid any deaths as well as avoiding his powers going out of control. When she mentioned him being much stronger than her he looked her dead in the eyes and opened his right eye revealing his blind eye. "Yea, I'd believe that if it weren't for the fact that everything about you screams danger, and for the fact that I've met some very powerful people at this school and I wouldn't be surprised if you were stronger than you appeared." He said with a grim look on his face, he was hoping that how he spoke would scare her off and make her not want to be there so he'd be alone. But at the same time there was a part of him that wanted company and would love to be around another living person. Hearing her mention the cigarettes he just shook his head. "No, I don't care that you smoke but I would rather not. Reminds me of a time when I had survived by surrounding myself with people who were nothing more than thugs." He said refusing the cigarette and then crouching down so that he would be at eye level with her but also ready to jump back off the roof. This woman, she was pretty but dangerous. So far that is all he could sense, but he thought he could feel a bit of her that was similar to him. Perhaps she was just lonely like he was, still that wasn't enough for him to trust her. "Why do you do that? What is so appealing about surrounding yourself with bad influences that get you to smoke and got you so used to it that now it relaxes you more than anything else? Wouldn't it be better to find some nice friends that can help you achieve your goals without being destructive to your health?" He asked cocking his head before letting his four titanium orbs fly back up to him and start to circle the area above his head. He was using this mainly for intimidation but was also getting ready to use them as either defense or a diversion. He still was not going to let his guard down.

Listening intently at what the blond had to say Vala kept her mouth shut aside from the few moments that she took another drag from her slowly dwindling cigarette. His explanation seemed truthful enough even if she couldn't understand it completely. It wasn't until the mention of his abilities that the picture became clearer.
"Hmm, well that explains that. This whole... being around other people like me- like us, takes some getting used to. I don't usually have to check the walls for people laying in wait. Ill take that in account for the future." Filling away the information for later she continued to listen to what he had to say.
At his note of her radiating danger Vala couldn't help the laughter than came from her body. The force was genuine and uncontrolled as she did her best to quell it's strength.
"Mmm... yes well many could think that of me I suppose. Yet one should not judge a book by it's cover. I may scream "danger", however I am not the one to pounce on a unsuspecting women who was minding her own business. To any on lookers it would appear as if I am the one in danger from this mysterious stranger that corners me on the roof top. Would you not agree?" Questioning with a raised brow her eyes shifted from the stranger to the open skies above.
"Think what you will of me. I find-" Taking a gentle drag from her smoke she paused.
"-that if you spend time carrying about what others think you never move forward. So if you wish to think I am a danger you are inclined to your own opinion, though I can whole heartly say I am no threat to you. My abilities lay more in the realms of fleeing rather than fighting. A power is much like a tool however. You can use a hammer to drive in a nail, or you could use it to smash anothers hand. It merely relates to the circumstance and heart." Vala noted with trails of grey flowing from her lips.
Declining her offer to take a smoke Vala shrugged her shoulders with a lack luster after thought as he questioned her once more about her choice to take up such a dirty habit.
"Ooooh I dunno. Why does anyone do anything? Because they can? "Because it's there"... Mr.Mallory could answer that question better than myself. Everyone has a vice. Whether it's drinking, gambling, eating, sleeping, searching for the next adrenaline rush, or in my case smoking. Most times they help to fill a void from something that was taken... or that never was. Those who go to war and survive often come home and down their horrors in drink. Did they lose a friend? Their humanity? That they carry the soul of those they killed with them? Maybe. They find drowning their demons in the drink helps to cope so they never have to face what has been taken." Her tone was bleak as if she was taking to the world rather than the man who stood a few feet away.
"Hmm... sorry. I guess that got a little more personal than was expected." She apologize to the blond before turning her gaze towards the dimming sky light.
"As for friends I tend to see that those with these.... "gifts" can have a difficult time finding people to be at our side. It can be hard for "normal" folk to understand how someone could lift a car over their head, create matter out of air, or generate enough force to generate a tsunami. Still, I have yet to be here long, and finding company hasn't been something on my to do list. I feel that it will happen when it happens. There is no need to rush it." And what that she turned to gaze back into the man's glaring gaze and the metallic orbs which hovered about his person. It wasn't difficult to sense that the dazzling display of power was an attempt to put fear into her though she shrugged at the gesture.
"With a display like that it's not difficult to see why you are up here by your lonesome." Taking another drag from the dying smoke she pushed herself off from the buildings wall and took a few steps towards the metal fence which surrounded the roof top.
"Much like this fence you have a forty foot wall around yourself with a giant "Keep Out" sign slapped on it. So I direct your question back to you. You ask me why I do not find kinship in others, yet you seem to be lacking just that. I find that those with friends tend to be by their side when the days winding down rather than isolating themselves away from the waking world."

Kami Medama When someone utters "LIFE IS HARD" I am always tempted to ask, "COMPARED TO WHAT?" TAG @vala WORDS count here NOTES Vala, one good succ plz :3 | Kami could only look in disbelief as the lady spoke, she knew more than he had assumed, maybe that was his first mistake. Thinking that she was strong but insolent. He would take note to stay wary of everyone no matter their abilities and appearance. He just sighed and sat down crossing his legs and letting his orbs split into eight different smaller orbs which circled his torso. "I'm gonna ignore everything else you said for the time being and skip directly to your question about why I am alone. It is quite simple really, I don't have full control over my telekinesis and am scared of what it will do. When my powers first awoke I killed a few people close to me, so ever since I have been guarding myself and have refused to allow myself near others out of a fear that would happen to them as well. People think I'm cold and hate filled when in reality I'm just lonely, I've researched everything I could find on powers and all I want is to suppress them or gain full control over them so nothing bad happens again. But yes, the wall is there. You were correct in that, but while the wall may seem intimidating there are cracks in it which reveal who I truly am. The same could be said for you, I'm guessing someone with a traumatizing childhood that left you battered and scarred. Now you are here doing who knows with people and using everyone you meet until they are of no use to you. You aren't pure by any means and seem like the type of person I would not like to encounter without my guard up. Now my main question for you is quite simple." He said pausing for a moment and holding his chin before looking at the stars. Then with a smile, he fell backward towards the roof and let his metal orbs stab into the ground around his ankles catching him and letting him hang from his legs upside down on the wall. He just hung there laughing before quickly pulling himself up and looking the girl back dead in the eyes and with a serious tone but a silly expression on his face he asked a simple question. "What is your end goal? There is no point in everything you probably have planned without a single end goal that would leave you happy and comfortable." He said before getting up and allowing the metal to slink back into his jacket. "If you want to continue with this conversation, follow me." He said with an evil grin before he did a backflip off the roof. What Vala wouldn't see unless she looked over was that he was using his telekinesis and metallumkinesis to make a spiral staircase down into a manhole which had its metal used to form the staircase. If Vala followed she would see Kami sitting down on a metal chair that was forming to make Kami more comfortable. If she didn't follow then everything would go back to normal before Kami left and went back to his dorm regretting his encounter.

From the almost visible jaw dropping expression which pried its way on the blondes face Vala couldn't help the smile that crested her lips. It was humorous how often she could get to the root of matters. Even more so when people thought her incapable of speaking in such philosophical fashion. Truth was that even for her young age Vala had experienced much in the ways of the world, and those moments shaped the way her mind worked. It was that knowledge which allowed her to cause disbelief in those she met, and she enjoyed it every time.
Stating that he would ignore the comments made Vala sighed herself at the action.
"Deflection is never a good sign." The words were only spoken to herself as she took another drag from the nearly depleted smoke.
Seeing little reason to push the matter further at this point Vala listened to the blond as he explained why he kept others at such a distance. When mentioning the deaths caused his abilities for the first time Vala felt the slightest ping of woe. Most people here didn't tend to share so openly about their histories, and he was the first to do so; at least to her. There was doubt as to whether or not to claim this man here was a murderer given the circumstances in which the deaths occurred though declining such a title to his name would do little to mentally coax her. Rather than fixate on one characteristic she turn about as he gave two cents for his thoughts of Vala.
"The same could be said of me? Well sir you think yourself quite the detective, do you? There is much that is assumed there without any evidence to back this hypothesis. While you are entitled to your opinion I would appreciate if they were not constructed from assumptions on a foundation of slander." Vala scoffed with a turning glare towards the nearby wall.
Pouting softly it couldn't be sad that his words had enraged her though she was displeased by his lack of proof behind his words. Of course what he spoke was the truth. Vala did use people till they withered away like dust in the wind. This lad however had just met her and knew nothing of her past. Oh how had her planned evening of enjoying herself turned into such a session of prying questions? Part of her much enjoyed having another person around to converse with, but at the same time she wished for nothing more than her bed, and peace. Taking a few breaths she did her best to allow the heat that fluttered in her cheeks to fade away before gazing back at the blond and the smile that held on his face.
"My goals?" Vala mirrored question back like a parrot.
"Happiness was a goal that I long abandoned. It is a peak upon a mountain whose heights eagles soar at, and one I view but never reach. When I was younger the idea was a welcoming one, and for some time I did clamber towards it. Then I learned it's easier to be content with were I was. For when you are content with your emotions plans cannot go awry since there are no expectations. If you do not expect someone to be there when you need them the most there is no disappointment. Then you learn to rely on yourself." Again she spoke the cold, hard truth as she saw it. The world had never been the most welcoming place to her, and rather than try to improve her view she thought it similar to keep things the way they were.
"I fear I might have side tracked from the original question." Muttering softly she brushed a lock of firey hair from her eyes before starting once again.
"What I have in plan is something that cannot be shared. If I told you then your exceptions of me would be towards that single goal, and if my goal were to slip through my hands then I would be a failure in that regard. But if such a secret is held tight I will only be known as a failure to myself." And with that Vala would take one last drag from her cigarette, and then crouching she would smother it upon the ground in a twist movement of the hand. Most people would tend to extinguish such a flame with their shoes, but Vala's high-end designer shoes were far to expensive for such reckless disregard.
Following up it was the blondes turn to speak, and while he did so she couldn't help, but he confused by his grinning expression. Then in a burst of movement he leapt over the roofs fence and off one side of the building. Perplexed for a moment Vala inched her way towards the buildings edge to glance over it to see the make shift staircase created.
"Crude, yet it serves it's purpose." Vala thought with a shrug of her shoulders.
"Yes well, I find the offer welcoming though I believe I will take my chances with the traditional stairs. Ones designed by those with a degree." And with that Vala would disappear for a few moments as she made her way down the few flights of stairs before arriving at the ground floor once again. Exiting from the main door of the dorms she quickly spotted the blond who was now sitting in a construct of metal which resembled a chair.
"You say there is a lacking of control in your abilities. Yet you've walked down heights that would kill most people, and then built a chair from the earth itself. I would say you have a firm grasp over them." Vala noted before stepping a few paces to the side were a lone tree stood in the grounds. Leaning against it she would gaze back over the man's sitting form.
"I never did receive the gift of your name. Nor did I give mine; something of which should be corrected post haste. I am Vala Breezewood, and you are...." She left the question hanging in the air as to allow him to fill it.
