Evelyn Victoria Hart
FEMALE. | 17. | HETERO. | YEAR 3. |
Empathy. | SIREN'S SONG. |
POWER DESCRIPTIONS
Empathy || Humans are social creatures who relate to one another in form of emotional responses. Empathy allows the user to sense people's emotional states and influence them in whatever way the user desires. In order for the user to manipulate emotions, however, the user must create an initial contact with the target. This contact must be physical in any form (e.g. brushing hands, touching the face, any skin on skin contact-- clothing does not count). The forced emotional state lasts for a long time, roughly a day but the emotion degrades over the course of the day. Certain people are not affected by this such as people with mental abilities that revolve around emotions or the negation of such powers.
Siren's Song || The user's voice naturally has the property of drawing people to her. The ability causes people to feel at ease around her albeit stronger willed people or those with emotional abilities themselves will realize the affect her voice has. This isn't an attack or a forced emotional state, people who realize they are affected should interpret this power as an invitation to feeling at ease and peaceful.

APPEARANCE
Blonde, curly hair. Steely blue eyes that can pierce into one's soul. These are but a few traits one might use to describe Evelyn. Her lips curve down naturally in a frown, her eyes soft and sad-- but the mask she wears around others is completely different. She is tough and sometimes menacing as she belittles you with her gaze. She'll huff and flip her hair as she walks away to let you know you aren't worth her time. Don't be fooled by her short stature at 5'6" boys at over six feet have been known to feel like they are the ones who look up at her.
She has a slim build all around, her features while slightly less than slightly less pronounced than others were still as present as one could expect on a normal girl of her stature. She can often be found wearing her school uniform, she enjoys the way it feels and the way the skirt fits on her, she thinks her legs are sexy. But when she isn't at school she wears more comfortable clothes, good fitting jeans and long sleeves sound perfect. She always wears her ponytails tied up with black string.

PERSONALITY
If someone were to look at Evelyn from afar, they would be able to point out the sad look that often appears on her face when she thinks she's alone. In solidarity, Evelyn yearns for something more than superficial relationships. When people do what you say, it's often hard to distinguish who genuinely wants to be your friend. Even if they don't sincerely care for her, she makes it her job to keep those around her calm when the situation calls for it,
Now that she's free from her sisters' reign of terror, Evelyn wakes up every morning with a bounce to her step. Despite whatever happened in her life, Evelyn tries to keep a friendly smile on her face and sunny outlook on life. She walks around the school as if she doesn't have a care in the world. And why should she have to care anyway? It mostly only takes a few sweet words, a touch of skin and a slight suggestion for her to get what she wants. Okay, so maybe having so much freedom has spoiled her a bit, but again, who cares? Maybe this is who she was meant to be; confident and ambitious. There's nothing and no one who can stand in the way of what she wants.
Though she has a sense of awareness about how her powers affects people, and she shouldn't abuse it, it's hard for Evelyn not to. She wants things done fast and right, no excuses. If she has to take matters into her own hands, then she doesn't have a problem with that. She knows she can't truly depend on anyone else to make her dreams come true.

BIOGRAPHY
Every little girl dreams of her prince charming showing up one day, sweeping her off her feet and whisking her away into the sunset. This is what Evelyn's mother had hoped for when she met Senator Hart. Sure, he was a married man and she was nothing more than a young intern, but she was blinded with what she thought was love. It started with glances, then the brushing of their hands. Polite, public smiles turned into sweet, secret whispers. However, in their lust they also became careless. Rumors circulated about the inappropriate relationship way before she found out she was expecting. It should have been a magical moment. After all, she had always wanted to be a mother. The rosy colored glasses come off quickly when the senator found out he was going to be a father. See, he had his own family; a lovely wife and three kids. He demanded that she should take steps to "solve the problem." When she refused, all the love that she had felt through out their year long romance disappeared from his eyes and instead was replaced with an icy cold demeanor.
If she wanted him to take responsibility for what he had done, it would be on his own terms. The young woman was naive and he was able to manipulate and use his power to get his way. She was allowed to carry the baby to term, but she would have to give the baby up when the time came. The promise that her daughter would be taken care of and would want for nothing for a second of her life was enough to convince her.
"And, of course, the money helped, too."
Those were the words Evelyn grew up hearing from the senator's wife all her life. This woman never hid the fact that Evelyn's father did not want her. She was told she should be grateful that he had a wonderful wife who was graceful enough to take in his bastard child. Every time Evelyn would stand next to her to keep up appearances in public, she could feel her so called mother recoil from her. She was never once hugged or given a pass like the rest of her siblings. They were a complete different nightmare.
Olivia and Viola hated Evelyn from the moment she was brought to their house. It didn't matter that they were a good ten years older than her, they picked on her for every little thing she did. If there was one saving grace, it was her older brother Victor. He rarely spent time at home, he was almost out of prep school when Evelyn was born, but he made her life easier whenever he visited for holidays. It was the only time she could breath and feel at home in her own house. Except, no, she had to remember none of this belonged to her.
As she grew into a young lady, Evelyn's sisters made it their life mission to make hers hell. Evelyn had a way of drawing the attention of anyone in a room whenever she opened her mouth and spoke. Her voice was soft and warm, it made everyone feel serene. Whenever she gave her attention to someone, they would forget all their troubles. At school, whenever she had a suggestion for an activity all the kids would agree. They followed her in lead without hesitation.
That made her sisters' blood boil even more. What was so special about her anyway? She was nothing more than a leech at their family's side.
Even with all the harassment from those two, Evelyn would have been content with carrying on with her life. Sure, it was full of lies and secrets. She almost never saw her father, save for a holiday here and there. She'd only ever been held in warm arms by her nanny, who had been let go the moment Evelyn started grade school.
It was a during her father's summer campaign when the sisters came up with a plan to get rid of her - or at least ruin her reputation. They knew Evelyn had at one point had a crush on Olivia's boyfriend. Although it had been nothing more than a childhood crush, she was never forgiven. With the help of the boyfriend, their cruel prank began. He'd get her in a room alone and make a move. They expected her to take the bait, which would be their cue to barge in with a group of her friends. They definitely didn't expect him to actually want to be with her.
From the moment he invited her to wait in the study with him, she had this uneasy feeling. She tried to push that to the back of her head and lightened the mood by talking. Silence would have been her safest choice, because the moment she spoke to him, he'd forget what his purpose was here. All he could think of was how pink and plump her lips looked as she spoke. It didn't take long for her to sense how he had changed in a matter of seconds. As she took a step back, he moved forward and reached for her. He pulled her closer when she tried to push him away. He had to be a good hundred pounds heavier than him, she could feel all the weight when he pushed her down on the couch. She pleaded with him to get off but he refused, telling her that he could tell by the sound of voice how much she wanted this. By the time her sisters barged in, Evelyn was sobbing with tears running down her cheeks.
At that moment, her sister lunged forward to pull him off Evelyn, and Evelyn truly believed she was saved. However, the fury was directed at her. Olivia's hand grabbed on to the back of Evelyn's head and pulled her off the couch by the hair. In Olivia's eyes, this was Evelyn's fault and she made sure to show it by slapping and digging her nails into Evelyn's skin.
It didn't matter that none of this had been Evelyn's fault, but they had no trouble painting it that way. He claimed she had seduced him and even though he tried so hard, she had forced herself on him. Then the rumor spread like wildfire. When word of the incident got to her father, he was furious. He worked so hard to keep a good public image, he even took a great risk when he decided to keep her, just for her to end up a public embarrassment. All she had to do was keep her head down and stay out of trouble. It only took was on misstep - not even from Evelyn herself- and she was told to start packing. In a moment of mercy (in his own words), he was going to ship her off to boarding school, even though he should disown her.
Evelyn didn't know it at the time, but someone had been watching her closely since she had been in grade school. They first took noticed of how the crowd of classmates gathered around her and did whatever she asked. This person knew something was different about the little girl but it took years for them to get the chance to offer her an opportunity to escape from her father's family. When Evelyn learned of Aurora, she didn't even question what this crazy lady was saying. She had powers? Okay, sure, anything to get away from the torture of her family.
