Dakota Ryan
MALE | FIFTEEN | BISEXUAL | YEAR ONE |
ENHANCED VISION | ENHANCED HEARING |
POWER DESCRIPTIONS
Kota has two abilities: enhanced vision and enhanced hearing.
While the two are similar, they have affected him majorly in different ways. Developing these skills in his early teenage years, Kota became aware of these abilities through his use of gaming. From his enhanced vision, he has extremely accurate hand-eye coordination and would have the potential to excel in sports if he could endure the physical training – something his weak body cannot do at the stage it’s at. He’s had a history, as well, of getting into trouble for overhearing conversations that he shouldn’t have. With his enhanced senses, Kota often tries to mute it down with little success in doing so. Rather than having little control to use it, he has the opposite problem with little control to not use his skills. They come second-nature by this point in his life, and often cause headaches for all the commotion he hears around him.

APPEARANCE
Kota has soft features and is easy on the eyes. When he was younger, due to his unblemished skin and small features he was often mistake for as a girl; thankfully, he’s outgrown that stage but still has a soft look about him. He’s told quite often he looks very similar to his mother.
Standing at 5’8”, Kota has always had a small physique and has unfortunately attracted several bullies this way over the years of his school life. His short, shaggy dirty blonde hair comes to the nape of his neck, with thick bangs covered across his pale forehead. Depending on the light in the room, his eyes can appear either blue or green – though his birth certificate says blue. Dealing with a variety of bullies, Kota is known for sporting bruises and cuts across his skin.
Due to Kota’s lucky color being blue, it’s rare he’s ever found without this color accessorizing one of his outfits. Other than blue, he tends to stick with neutral shades varying from black, white, and grey. Of course he’ll wear the school uniform during regular hours at Aurora Academy, but as soon as that bell rings he strips back to his regular outfits, feeling more comfortable this way.

PERSONALITY
Kota is dependable as much as he is dependent.
While typically laid-back and easygoing around others, when by himself he tends to freak out. He can’t stand being alone and often will socialize with anyone that’ll let him – including his own bullies. Despite growing extremely attached to any person that’ll talk with him, Kota holds his end of the bargain by being a decent person to talk with. No one that’s met him has found anything personality-wise to complain about him. Aside from his attachments, of course.
Kota is a sweetheart to those close to him, and will always stand up for what he believes in, often being easily targeted by bullies because of this. He doesn’t let his bruises drag him down, although he will wear long-sleeves to cover them up. Above anything, Kota just wants companions to be with. His greatest fear is loneliness, and because of this he’ll go out of his way just to find someone to have a conversation with. (His longest record for being by himself is at night, and even then he’ll sometimes talk to himself to drive away the loneliness.)

BIOGRAPHY
Kota was raised in a house of women, growing up with a single mother and older twin sisters. He lived a simple, easy life, and while his mother was gone most days working two jobs she made sure to teach her children right from wrong. From this, Kota learned early on to do well in school and stay out of trouble – although he always seemed to attract trouble anyway. Whether it was his lean stature or meek personality, bullies were on to him every year of school, getting to the point where he didn’t really care if he showed up at home with bruises coating his body.
His father passed away from a car accident when he was young. Kota doesn’t remember much of him, and is secretly grateful his father isn’t around to see him – in his mind, he feels he would’ve been a disappointment to his father due to his soft nature. Not being a manly-man was slightly humiliating, but something he simply couldn’t change about himself.
As he grew older, Kota grew more reliant on relationships. Dependent, one could say. He felt he needed guidance in his life, and by having a friend, lover, or even enemy tell him what to do was something he could follow. That’s right – he even followed the advice given to him by his bullies, often leading him to his own downfall in the long run. He couldn’t help himself; not being around someone wasn’t an option. Without others, he grew lonely by himself, and that was the worst feeling in the world in his mind.
Before the start of high school, he received a letter in the mail addressed to himself from the prestigious Aurora Academy inviting him to enroll in the school. He was reluctant at first, not wanting to leave his family and friends behind, but his sisters were quick to encourage him to start a new life where he could develop a new identity and ultimately become the man he’d always wished to be.
Spoiler alert: he accepted his enrollment.
Another spoiler alert: his life didn’t exactly change on enrollment for the better, but it nonetheless changed in a major way.
