The snow was falling in light flakes, the sky a dull grey. The air was brisk, the kind one could feel settling in their lungs. Temperature-wise, it was far, not too off from a chilly thirty-two degrees; just the perfect environment for one to frolic in. The forest was quiet, a nice place for one to settle their thoughts, and enjoy genuine peace in a rather chaotic world. And that was exactly what Kyoko was doing; deep within the forest, she stood bundled up in some winter clothing: a puffy grey coat with white fur lining the hood and sleeves, her thick, over-the-ear headphones complete with cyan ribbons above each earpiece, cyan cotton gloves, brown snow boots, and a pair of thick black jeans; of course, along with the bows on the headphones, Kyoko had taken special care wrapping the rest of her clothing to match, a large bow being placed to the side of her waist, and her boots tied with what looked like cyan ribbon, intricately laced into a perfect bow as well.
Pulling a hand from a glove, she gave a light huff, her breath visible in the cool air, ”Well, this looks like as good a place as any…” she told herself. Raising a hand to the air, she concentrated, her fingers pointing outwards and tracing a circle in the air, a dim cyan glow being left being. With the glyph complete, she stepped back and smiled, ”Come on out, Uni. Let’s play!”
The glyph grew in size and brightness, and from within it came wolven creature with black-ish blue and silver fur. Standing at three feet talk, the wolf let out a huff of his own, his breath visible as well. The sight would have been intimidating, had Kyoko not experienced this many times. This was her power; the ability to summon for creatures. Creatures that would protect her. Her bare hand fell to the wolf’s back, and she gently ran her fingers down his fur.
Unitaro seemed happy to see the girl, his head pushing against her legs, in an attempt to push right between them, ”Now, now, boy. I’m happy to see you too!” she told him, ruffling his fur, petting behind his ears, and squishing his face with her hands- though not a favorite to most animals, this particular creature seemed pleased with the affections, even giving the girl’s face a wet lap with his big tongue.
”Alright, boy! How about some fetch?” she asked, pushing away from the wolf and pulling a branch from a nearby tree. The wolf gave her a happy bark, showing his true colors to be more like a dog than a wild beast. Letting out a small giggle, Kyoko tossed the stick further into the forest, and Unitaro bound after it, bringing it back after a moment. The game would continue like that for some time, if not interrupted, or course. Both parties seeming to enjoy it equally, neither seeming to mind the cold or snow.

Close your eyes, so many days go by. Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
Just within the wooded area that was on the academy grounds, darkness seemed to gather more in certain areas than others. Where the darkness currently dwelled, the area it brushed over gave off an eerie appearance. The temperature seemingly dropped several, noticeable degrees and the quiet...the quiet was what sent chills down one's spine. No bird nor insect dared to make a noise within this darkened part of the woods. The threat of danger filled the air, as if challenging any living being to try and disturb it. However, within the darkened place a darkly hooded figure silently sat on a flat rock, snow lightly falling on his cloak and around him. His head was tilted down slightly, one would have possibly mistaken him as dead if not for the slight show of his breath rising out from the hood.
He sat cross-legged, his gloved hands resting against his knees. The soft wind that flitted through the trees seemed to grow stronger, turning into a haunted howl that echoed off the trees; or had it not been the wind that had done that? Just a couple of yards behind the man, the darkness seemed to gather a bit more until a monstrous hound stepped out. Drool dripped from its jaws as its tail lashed like a whip. A low, blood-chilling growl rose up from its throat, the creature stalking towards the seated man as he seemed to not pay any attention to said creature. However, as it came closer, the man lifted his head slowly and turned it to the side slightly, his face concealed due to the shadows of his hood, and reached a hand out towards the nearly five-foot creature, running it over the hideous beast's snout and up its head. Scars riddled along its dark, muscled body, giving hints of past fights that it had been through.
Though the man took his hand away and lifted it in the air a little more, beckoning the near suffocating darkness to come to him. A soft grunt escaped the man as the unusual darkness entered him, the area becoming a bit lighter now. However, his attention was on something else. Something that had caught his attention a bit of a ways from him. He rose from his spot and casually brushed some snow off of himself before he uttered a single, quiet command.
"Capture."
With only that, the monstrous hound released an eerie howl before racing off into the forest. The hunt was on, and it would not stop until it had fulfilled its master's command of capturing whatever had caught his attention. But, in some way, it knew. It knew just what, or rather who, to look for. It could sense when another being not of this plane was around, and that was what it was after. Any creature that happened to be nearby let out cries of alarm and fled; and those who were not so lucky were trampled by the beast. The beast was quick, powerful even, and it would not rest until it came out on top. It knew, after all, the consequences of failing its master.
Meanwhile, its master slowly and silently followed behind, easily enough since his beast had left obvious signs of where it had gone. Now...to see just who had caught his attention. As well as to question them on why they were in the wooded area alone. Oh, he knew for he had sent a moth he conjured up to scan the area. That really was the only way he could have known, and even if he had not sent his monstrous creature ahead he would have been able to figure out where this person had been. The sounds alone would have been enough, but his moths would have been able to help along the way. However, he remained trailing behind a bit of a distance from his creature as it followed through the order he had given it.

Unitaro was on the return when Kyoko caught sight of something strange in the distance. Something was causing a stir nearby, and the animals were taking notice. Dropping the stick Unitaro too turned his head in the direction of the disturbance; as the birds flew high into the sky as if in avoidance of something. Removing her headphones, Kyoko caught the tail end of a sound that had echoed throughout the forest. A disturbing howl.
Unitaro’s hackles rose, and he let out a ferocious growl of his own, baring his fangs. Obviously, this was not the place to be right now, and Kyoko knew that. Those animals were running from something, and if she had to guess from what, then she’d be willing to put money on it. Turning tail, she waved her beast companion to her side, and burst forth in a sprint, ”Come on, Unitaro! I don’t wanna meet whatever is causing all that!” However, the pursuing beast would prove faster than Kyoko’s feet could move, and moments later it would be visible behind them.
Glancing over her shoulder as she ran, she’d see the hideous beast. Obviously this thing was not of this world, and honestly, it was frightening- like something from a nightmare. Kyoko’s eyes widened and she pushed herself to run even faster. If push came to shove, would she have to fight this thing? Truth be told, she didn’t have the most experience in combat. She did have Unitaro, but compared to this thing, he looked like a pup. There was Pixie as well, but against this thing she’d stand even less of a chance than Kyoko on her own. Running seemed to be the best option in the heat of the moment, so that was exactly what she chose to do.
As she bounded forwards, her path would be serpentine, weaving through and around trees, putting as many physical obstacles between her and her aggressor as she could. At the same time, her eyes darted back and forth, looking for something she could use to her advantage in such a situation, something that would help her survive. She didn’t know why exactly this thing was going after her, but right now that didn’t matter. All she knew is she didn’t stand much a chance if it got close.

Close your eyes, so many days go by. Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
The man continued to move along at the pace he was going as his beast continued its chase. He could hear the crashing of the beast rushing straight through whatever was able to be trampled or easily broken, knowing full well it would dodge whatever it couldn't. The man knew it would only be a matter of time until his creature caught up to its prey, and he was confident in its abilities as well. After all, he only kept the best for himself...
His pace quickened a little, just a mere brisk walk now, as his beast's snarls filled the air - no doubt attempting to herd its prey in the man's direction. He honestly wouldn't be surprised if his beast had managed to nip or bite either prey once or twice during the herding. After a few minutes, the man came to a stop, just within the shadows, and crossed his arms under his cloak as he awaited his beast to lead the prey towards him. He, himself, was athletic enough to give chase on his own, but he just didn't really feel like it all that much currently. So here he stood in the shadows, waiting patiently for his beast to complete the command. Afterwards he'd be able to question whomever this being was once they were brought to him, though in the meantime he'd take to waiting.

Running from the beast was proving to be much more of a problem than first thought. Even with placing obstacles between them, the beast never slowed; simply plowing through the smaller, and completely avoiding the larger. Kyoko let out a scream as the beast closed in, his teeth grabbing for her coat, the fabric tearing as if it were made of paper, stuffing expelled from the fresh opening of the grey coat. This was getting to scary to deal with, something that not even a nightmare could have foretold.
Unitaro, who’d been running at the girl’s side since they took off, didn’t take kindly to his master being attacked however; his hackles raised, and he let out a snarl, darting off to the left of Kyoko, and returning around the beast’s flank as it continued to chase the girl, hurling his body towards the larger dog-like creature, sharp claws a flurry, fanged teeth attempting to grab hold of the beast and at least stop it for even a second.
All the while, Kyoko continued running, not realizing she was being herded into the direction of a certain black-clad bystander. She let out yet another scream as she heard sounds of her familiar trying to turn the situation; tearing pooling at the corners of her eyes and running off her face. This was supposed to have been a simple day of fun, and now her friend was fighting to try and save her. What the hell had happened? Why her?
Rounding a corner, she caught sight of the man dressed in black, and waved her arms, ”Help!” she shouted; it wouldn’t take much to see exactly what it is she was searching for help from, as it would likely still be on her tail. Her feet continued to propel herself towards the man, her final attempt in getting aid to force the person to help by bringing the monster right to him; however, she’d likely soon find out that that wasn’t exactly what the man had in mind…
”Heeeeeeeelp meeee!!! Please!”

Close your eyes, so many days go by. Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
The man remained where he was as his beast continued its work, soon enough witnessing the form of a young person running in his general direction. He shifted a little to somewhat step out of the shadows, which apparently caught the person's attention for a cry for help fled from the person. He was silent as he just stood there, waiting for the being to come closer and until he could see his own beast come into sight. Once he could see his beast, as well as another canine, he uncrossed his arms and slipped one out from beneath his cloak. He lifted his gloved hand up into the air, snapping his fingers once.
That simple gesture was enough to cause his beast to quit its assault and bound over to his side, circling behind him to stand at his side while growling lowly and drooling quite a bit. After a moment the man lowered his and and peered down at the young person, a girl perhaps, with his face concealed from the shadows of his hood.
"Who are you?" He questioned quietly, his voice smooth and soft yet held a hint of danger as well. He remained where he was as he kept his eyes on the girl and the creature, his own monstrous beast just ready to lunge again. "I suggest you try not to run or...do much of anything else. It would be ill-fated for you." He added after a brief pause, his hand moving to rest on his beast's head lightly.

Kyoko’s eyes widened as the figure who she’d asked for help, snapped his fingers, and the creature that had been chasing her rounded his backside, taking place beside him. Coming to a stop, she watched the two with amazement. Just what kind of bond did these two have? And what exactly did that mean for Kyoko? In truth, she had no idea. The thought that the beast might belong to this man had never crossed her mind. Silently cursing herself for falling into whatever kind of trap might have been laid out for her, she twiddled her fingers nervously in her lap.
Unitaro took to her side, pressing against her left leg and keeping a keen eye on the duo. He didn’t look as menacing as the other beast, but it was obvious he was just as ready to pounce if needed as the other creature. Kyoko’s gaze fell to the ground as she was questioned, then warned not to fight back, or flee. At this point, such things didn’t need to be voiced. She was well aware of the danger she was in. Still, as the creature pressed against her, she couldn’t help but lower a hand and run it through his fur.
”M-my name is Kyoko…” she told him, her voice coming through as weak and frightened, ”Kyoko Mi… I’m a second year here at Aurora…” Glancing up, her green eyes scanned the cloaked figure, of course, there was only so much she could gather from him appearance wise. From his voice, she’d guess he was a male, and from his height, she’d guess he was considerably older than her. Nevertheless, none of this information would aid her in her situation.
”S-so,” she started, her voice trembling from both fear and the cold, the temperature now getting to her through the large hole in the back of her coat, ”H-he belongs to you then?” she asked, raising a shaking finger towards the beast beside him, her hand only falling back to her familiar when she remembered his warning. ”Does that mean you sent him after us?” As obedient as the creature seemed, such a suspicion wouldn’t be out of the question. ”Why? W-we weren’t doing anything wrong…” Although she had intended her statement to seem strong and stern, it came out much more of a sheepish whisper than anything else.
