Well, it seemed with their fortune read, the couple began to seem skeptical; or well, Amaryllis was. Rhys was noticeably saddened, but not shattered. But being the skeptic she was, Amaryllis didn't buy into it. And it made it even better, or more awkward, or something inbetween with her squeezing his hand. Rhys felt his face redden a bit. Did this imply that she didn't care if it were 10 percent? For a fake date, Rhys was awfully worried about the compatibility between them. And Amaryllis was sure to remedy the situation as best she could. That gave the boy mixed feelings; on the one hand, great! On the one hand, he felt happy about it. On the other, why was he happy about that? It didn't make all that much sense. Whatever. It didn't matter. Amaryllis made her point clear, and the fortune teller, while counting her cards began to scratch the back of her head. There was something missing, but even as Amaryllis said this, she kept her mouth shut. "Yeah... you're probably right." Rhys gave a charming smile, and tightened his grip on her hand, as they continued on. * * * Not even five minutes after the compatibility problem, there was not much of a crowd near a certain attraction. 'Tunnel of Love'. Rhys looked at the sign, and thought about how childish it was... until, from behind himself and Amaryllis, the two were skillfully pushed forward. Calling out from the swan boat in front of them, the boy noticed the front man state "And a ride for the couple!" as it seemed two burly guys quickly threw the duo into a boat with not so much as a hello. As the swan boat was kicked off quickly, Rhys looked to Amaryllis, as the boat quickly entered the tunnel. Amaryllis Coll

Amaryllis tugged him along, feeling his grip on her hand tighten in response as the two wandered off from the fortune booth. It was best to put that old woman and her crazy fortunes behind them. Rhys offered her one of his dazzling smiles, and she knew just from that he was feeling better. It was reassuring to see him smile. It let her know everything was going okay for him. She was good at reading people, and for the most part his smiles were always genuine. It was a pleasant relief from the forced smiles she was used to people sending her way.
The two continued on through the crowds, Amaryllis eying several attractions in mild interest but failing to point them out. She was waiting for Rhys to bring up their next target on the date agenda, but he seemed mildly quiet for the most part. At least it wasn’t an awkward silence, but more of a pleasant, comforting quiet. It was something Amaryllis was used to, as she wasn’t the naturally talkative type. Perhaps Rhys thought she’d be more comfortable in silence, and it wasn’t as if she were objecting to it, but it seemed odd without him chatting away as he normally did. Maybe he was still upset about the fortune. She hoped not.
A sign with the words ‘Tunnel of Love’ came into view, and the two neared it in silence with questioning stares. Amaryllis had never been to this side of the carnival, unsure what a tunnel of love even meant. Was it required to be in love to proceed? Did one become in love after the ride? Did that mean magic was used? She tilted her head at the thought, her long strands of violet hair falling over her shoulder and down her back.
Suddenly someone shoved the two forward, forcing Amaryllis to snap her head back and glare heatedly at those responsible. About to make a snide remark, she felt her body lifted and tossed into a nearby boat as if she were as light as a pillow, forcing her to stumble in the boat and catch herself.
“What the hell,” she snapped, feeling furious at the situation. The boat proceeded to carry the two through the tunnel, but not before Amaryllis made a sweeping gesture with her arm, creating a violent wind out of nowhere that pushed the men that pushed her in the boat into the cold water. She tilted her chin up in the air, satisfied with their surprised looks and shouts of complaint, before turning her attention to the tunnel, seeing them slowly being enveloped in darkness. She wisely took a seat beside Rhys to avoid falling overboard, mumbling out loud, “What is this, anyway?”

It was too late; and the two of them were now forced on the attraction. Though it seemed Amaryllis had some stark protests, throwing some wind their pushers way. And hearing the splash behind them, Rhys would turn his head to see them all in the water now, something that made Rhys chuckle. That was something he enjoyed about the girl; she could fight back. He enjoyed that; she wasn't a pushover, and she would speak her mind in protest. As Amaryllis turned around, she seemed to ask the question. Where were they? To which, Rhys scratched his cheek, his dumb grin on his face as they were surrounded in darkness now. "Oh, uh... this is a tunnel of love. Couples go here to kiss during the ride. Apparently, it's romantic? I don't know. Never been on one." Rhys finished speaking, looking around them. Nothing yet... and admittedly, he looked away for another reason. Kiss. Rhys felt his cheeks heat up at the mention of the word. He said it, and he imagined it, and he merely tried to push the idea away. He didn't want to kiss Amaryllis, right? That was just silly? Even with the cave lighting up slowly, a myriad of purple, violet, and magenta colors from lights all around them appearing. He even swore at some point a talking crab would begin to sing. Turning to Amaryllis, Rhys saw her in the lights, and she looked amazing by herself. The blackette felt his face heat up more as he looked over to her. His heat began beating against his chest like a drum, and he noticed that the push into the boat had ruined his glasses, so he took them off. Only for style anyways. His hand was still holding Amaryllis', and as he looked at her, he felt a feeling come over him, as the lights continued to shine over the two. He gave one of his most winner smiles to Amaryllis, his red eyes gleaming in the combination of lights. He spoke without thinking. "You know... you really do look lovely."Amaryllis Coll

Amaryllis blinked her eyes, adjusting to the dim lights and the darkness of the tunnel. She’d never been on a boat ride before, let alone a boat to begin with. Most of her childhood was spent indoors under the strain of her mother’s abuse, although there were moments where she would watch boats and planes and trains on the television and wonder what it was like to be in a vehicle besides a car. Her sister was particularly fascinated with trains, owning her own train set and having Amaryllis help set up the parts. She remembered promising her sister they would ride on a train one day, waving their goodbyes to the strangers of the station like they did in the movies.
Rhys answered her question suddenly, interrupting her thoughts as she glanced over at him. So this was a ride for couples? Are they breaking an endless tradition of couples by coming into the tunnel and not being a couple themselves? She frowned at the thought, rubbing her chin in wonder at her questions.
Her eyes trailed over to him as a new question formed in her mind, asking nonchalantly, “Is kissing a prerequisite for a date?” She really should’ve done her research better, tsking herself for not doing so. All she nailed down was the outfit so far, the rest she was completely clueless to. She flattened out any wrinkles in her dress at the thought, brushing her bangs aside as she did so.
Amaryllis’ attention drifted away from her date and toward the mirage of colors around them, admiring the beautiful shades dancing along the walls of the tunnel in silence. She wondered if every boat ride was like this, or only certain ones. Were only couples allowed to ride boats? She could’ve sworn she’d seen singles lingering about when she watched passengers on the TV.
“You know… you really do look lovely.”
She turned back toward him at the sound of his voice, blinking in surprise. The hint of a smile crossed her features, barely visible in the darkness. He had one of his charming smiles directed at her, and she felt herself at a loss for words, staring deeply into his red eyes. “What a cheesy line,” she teased, feeling the mood lighten a touch at her words.

Is kissing a pre-requisite for a date? Rhys was pretty sure he read that in a book somewhere that not until the third date, at least. Maybe onr or two books, but he wasn't really sure about that. After all, he also read in those books that more adult-based activities can happen with a foot-in-the-door technique, though Rhys was reluctant to think about that, since he read a whole sentence of that chapter, before closing it entirely. After all, he at least knew that he didn't ever want to be shirtless around Amaryllis. For reasons. Still, as the continued, it seemed that Amaryllis had smiled just a bit. Rhys felt pretty damn happy about that, even if the next four words out of her mouth were in regards to how cheesy that line was. Was he a cheesy guy? It seemed to be that way. Rhys' red eyes zoomed about the tunnel for a few minutes, but they always found purchase on her. He just couldn't stop himself from looking at the lovely sight in front of her. His hand tightened around her own. Her lips seemed to sparkle just a bit, and maybe it was a trick of the lights. Rhys found himself staring at her lips constantly. Was he mentally preparing himself? Maybe just a bit, after all, he could feel his heart pumping harder and harder now, even as hard as hearing it in his ears now, or at least he thought. Though his ears were pre-occupied with a heavenly tone. What was wrong with him? Did he like her that much? But they weren't compatible, right? Rhys felt the sweat run down his face a bit. They weren't... that's what they were told, but why was he still like this around her? He had to find out the answer to the question. But how? As the ride continued to sparkle around them, Rhys spoke up. "Yeah... doesn't make it any less true." He felt his fingers between her's. His face looked to Amaryllis' with the dump grin... but the grin was over. Replaced by an awkwardness of staring at her lips, and then her eyes. What was holding him back? Amaryllis Coll

Rhys had yet to answer her question as the silence lingered on between the two, and Amaryllis chose to drop the subject. Maybe he didn’t want to talk about kissing. Maybe it was too personal. Maybe he had a bad experience with it in the past. Whatever the reason, it didn’t concern her all that much. He was in charge of this date, so he would ultimately decide what happened. She was here to learn, and as long as the request wasn’t too unreasonable, she would follow his lead.
He proceeded to squeeze her hand, and her eyes returned to his face questioningly. Navy stared into red, and she wondered what it was he was thinking at that moment. Rhys seemed awfully concentrated on something, staring back at her intently and with purpose. She tilted her head to the side, trying to figure him out but failing to do so. He was a mystery to her. The two were so different in personalities, yet throughout this date they found common ground together. It was an accomplishment for her, as most people tended to avoid her at all costs due to her introverted and sometimes violent nature.
Not Rhys, though.
If anything, he seemed attracted to her cold and standoffish nature, meeting her resistance at every turn with his charming grin and optimistic personality. She inwardly wondered how he managed to get this far with her. Was it his persistence? His charisma? His charm? Amaryllis gave a light snort at the thought.
His gaze continued to linger on her, and she chose to make a comment at this point. “Is there…something on my face?” she asked quietly, raising a hand to her cheek. Maybe he was being polite and trying to signal to her she still had food crumbs from earlier. Or maybe there was dirt smeared on her cheek from the dirty rides. Amaryllis stared at him questioningly, her hand still in his, waiting patiently for a response.

Rhys sat there, staring. Probably without thought, but it seemed like he couldn't concentrate on any other thought in his mind. He could swear there was a singing crab in his mind, really having it on, and goading him with a song that was far more nineties than it needed to be. He took a bit to get his concentration back, enough anyways to respond to her question. Was something on her face? Rhys felt himself smirk. Not arrogantly, or not attempting to be. "Yeah. Allow me."Rhys moved his face closer in an instant, using spatial manipulation, and placing his lips upon her's, and something in that kiss drove him closer to the brink of insanity, as he could feel something more than just two pairs of lips pressed together. What was it? Electricity? It jolted about wildly, bouncing from the walls, and making the lights go out around them. And as they did, a pinker light illuiminated the boat fully, just as an hour went by, a day, a week, a month. Months. Then years. It was so fast, so quick, and yet not more than ten second passed by them. When their lips parted, Rhys stared, his narrow red eyes into her navy blue's. He finally took a breath, as he spoke only one line. "Sorry. Had to check something." Rhys didn't move from his spot, yet oddly enough, he felt something weird by his feet. He could feel his socks being rocked off for some reason or another. But nothing would make him forget that moment now. And he did not move an inch away. Amaryllis Coll

Amaryllis could see her reflection in his eyes, staring back as she waited for a response. Something. Anything. The silence was deafening. Normally she liked the quiet – thrived in it, even – but around him, it was strange. Rhys was always chatty and charming, and if he wasn’t then the whole world felt off. She knew she was being dramatic at this point, but the fact remained her company wasn’t being responsive, making their date fall into an awkward silence.
And then he spoke.
Rhys implied that there was, in fact, something on her face. Her free hand rubbed her cheek in response and, before she could ask where, his lips crashed on hers. Amaryllis widened her eyes, her body going ridged in surprise. Her fingers curled around his in their intertwined hands as her eyes gradually fluttered close, leaning into the kiss. Her first kiss ever. And with Rhys, of all people. She did not expect this turn of events. She wondered if her lips were as soft as his, enjoying the feel of his mouth against hers.
He pulled away after a few moments and she blinked her eyes open once more, staring at him in curiosity. Their faces were still close together, but Amaryllis didn’t pull back. “Was that…okay?” she breathed, wondering his opinion. Wondering if he felt as lightheaded as she did at that moment. His hand felt warm in her own, and her heart thumped in her chest erratically. She wasn’t sure what this feeling was; it made her feel tingly and excited and alive.
If kissing Rhys made her feel this way, maybe she’d have to do it more often.

It was that moment that solidified that the fortune teller was wrong, and speaking of, as the fortune teller picked up her cards, she noticed one card was below the 10 card at her booth. As she looked it over, and noticed tha tunderneath was the 100 card with a shiny pink heart, she looked towards the direction the couple had walked off. She seemed worried for a second, especially with how Rhys acted afterwards. But she smiled. Her fortunes were rarely wrong. She, herself, just made an error with her cards. As Rhys stayed very close in proximity, his hot breath and her's mixing together, Rhys gave a seductive look to the girl, his hand still holding her's much tighter now. His heart was mimicking Amaryllis' heart, and honestly, he couldn't concentrate at all, so when she asked if that were okay, he took a few seconds to think. Only a few though. "Can't say. Try again." Rhys just went back to kissing, this time, his free arm moving to Amaryllis' cheek to pull her into the kiss in full, lasting much longer this time. He was light-headed, his head was in cloud nine times nine. He couldn't concentrate, and honestly, he didn't intend to. He was fixated, and he made sure to see if that feeling was a fluke. Sure enoguh, it wasn't. As he held her in his arm, Rhys didn't care that the world continued onwards. He was enjoying this; his lips on hers like this, his hand holding her's tighter, his arm pulling her to him. No amount of lights or humans trying to get their attention was stopping him. "Uh, kids? You've been sitting there for ten minutes now..."Rhys blinked, pulled away, and looked to Amaryllis, then back to the guys. "Oh... sorry about that." his face was red. They had effectively kissed for longer than Rhys had thought they did, and as he pulled Amaryllis out, he held her in his arms again, his face red, and seeing her in full daylight. "We should... we should do this again. The dating, not the kissing. Well, the kissing too, but mostly the dating."Amaryllis Coll

Amaryllis felt Rhys’ breath against her face, very much aware of their close proximity. She’d never been this close to anyone, let alone a boy, feeling the way she did now. What was happening to her? Her heart was pounding, her eyes were dilated, her breath was coming out heavy. She felt like a hot mess, and it was so unlike her. Normally she was orderly, cool and collected, not…this. She felt so alive in that moment, and all of herself was focused solely on being close to him.
She always knew he was attractive, but after their kiss she was more aware than ever about his charming looks. That shaggy black hair, those scorching red eyes, his crooked grin. She couldn’t get enough of him.
Apparently he felt the same way, pulling her into another kiss she didn’t object to. Rhys pulled her closer to him as she felt their bodies press together, the two seemingly in perfect sync with each other. Amaryllis grasped his arm with her free hand, her other hand occupied with squeezing his own. She pushed her lips further against his, enjoying the heated feeling of their intimate moment.
A voice spoke out to the two, something she was acutely aware of but didn’t really care about. If it weren’t for Rhys pulling away, she would’ve ignored the voice altogether, but he did and she was forced to pull back as well, glancing up at the men staring at them with mild annoyance. Amaryllis didn’t really get embarrassed, but she did get frustrated, and that emotion was clearly shown across her features and directed at the men who interrupted their moment.
Rhys gathered her attention by mentioning they should do this again sometime. The dating and the kissing. She glanced over at him and nodded her violet head. “I could use more tips on dating,” she offered nonchalantly, waving her hand. Her eyes sparkled as a small grin broke across her lips as she chose to add,
“Maybe help on the other thing, too.”
