Amaryllis could not believe this.
In all her seventeen years of life, she had never been stood up. Not a single time. There was a close call once where she’d been in the midst of a group project and been the only one pulling her weight; despite these trying circumstances, she held her tongue and told herself they would fail their parts and she would pass her own, and then they could go their separate ways. No one had to get hurt. Then the deadline came nearer, and in an effort to pull the group’s failing morale together, she proposed a meetup. All but one came, and in a last attempt effort to force his lazy ass to come and work, she texted him a colorful message detailing what all she would do to him if he wouldn’t make it within five minutes.
He made it in four, and that was the last of that.
She glanced over at the clock on the wall and glared at the ticking mechanism. It was approximately thirty minutes later than their designated time frame, and no Kazuki Zakharov could be seen in their library meetup spot. The two had planned to meet there for a study session, something Amaryllis took very seriously, and was astonished by the turn of events that he, in fact, did not.
Clearly he didn’t value his life very much if he dared to defy her, let alone waste her time.
Standing up at once, her chair making a screech as she did so, Amaryllis marched through the hallways and toward the double-door entrance to the school, abruptly pushing the doors open and startling nearby students. She didn’t pay attention to them, however; her focus was on one thing: finding Kazuki and demanding a plausible reason as to why he’d ditch her before making him beg for his miserable life.
And she knew exactly where to find him.
Knowing very well her friend – and she used the term loosely at this point – was a nature lover, her feet wound up taking her to the nearby woods located beside Aurora Academy. The sun was still high in the sky, beating down on her naked arms and making her wish she had worn her usual sweater. The last thing she wanted was a tan.
Walking further in the wooded area, she stopped to listen to her surroundings, catching the feintest of sounds and instantly traveling in that direction. Soon enough, she came to a clearing and spotted the familiar boy perched amongst the nature surrounding him, sending her harshest glare in his direction. She hoped he could feel her killer intent. She hoped he winced.
Picking up the largest stick nearby, about the size and thickness of a small branch, without any words she charged in his direction, ready to smack him over the head with her newfound weapon.

Kazu had been lazing around the past couple of days like usual. So today was really no different. After classes were over he took to the woods like usual. It wasn't like kazu really was deep into any activity like other people at the school. He was smart enough to not try but still get A's so why go study. He sucked at sports so why try out for one.
So it was just another day of laying around in the woods. He found his spot, with Night. A black bear that was his best friend per say. She was a black bear that kazu had found stuck in a bear trap the he got her out of a year ago. So being able to talk to animals came in handy as they became pretty good friends after that.
As he was perches up against the black bear with most of his upper body being sucked into the fur of the bear he just put in head phones and started to listen to music, as the bear just slept. He had totally forgot that he had plans with a certain violet haired girl whom was a year ahead of him. He had met her one day and just happen to become friends. Even though they weren't that close but they did spend time together here and there, which today was one of those days.
As Kazu was just about to nod off to sleep. He heard some sticks breaking pretty fast as Night looked up and threw Kazu off balance as she stood up and walked in front of kazu to protect him as kazu stood up he saw the violet hair flowing in the wind. He looked at Night. "Night she is a friend." He talked to the bear through minds as the bear didn't budge until the violet girl would stop running with a stick at them.

Amaryllis’ glare hardened, navy eyes narrowed as she stared across the clearing. A large black bear had moved protectively in front of Kazuki, almost like a mother protecting its cub. She held back a dark chuckle at the irony, knowing fully-well he didn’t need protection.
She lowered her stick at the sight of the bear, a growl emanating from her throat in response. How dare he use an animal to cower behind; while she wasn’t sure whether he commanded the bear to protect him or it moved on its own, the fact remained that he had yet to say a word or move since she entered the clearing. She was looking for an apology, and a damn good one at that, yet he seemed completely oblivious.
Just another thing on the list of annoyances.
She took a cautious step forward, eyes on the bear while she called out, “Tell the animal to move so I can kick your ass.” Amaryllis certainly wasn’t an animal lover, but she wasn’t about to abuse one that was merely following a command.
The wind suddenly picked up, blowing her violet hair around and forcing her to tuck a few free strands behind her ears. Her frustration reaching its peak, she mumbled out, “I can’t believe he forgot.” She was talking mostly to herself, certain he couldn’t even hear her from their distance, but nonetheless tried to reign in her temper, focusing on taking deep breaths and calming herself down.

Kazu looked at her as she saw the killing intent in her eyes. And could feel the aura she was giving off. He looked at Night as he just sighed. He walked in front of the big bear and pet the side of her face. "Relax. She is some what harmless" he said out loud to the bear as he walked forward a bit as the wind picked up as his hair started blow in the wind.
"Relax Amary. I honestly forgot we had plans. You know how I am." He chuckled nervously. He wasn't too afraid of what she could do. More on the fact that she probably hated him now. He kept petting the bear as he talked. "Plus I wanted to see her" he lastly said as he looked at her

Amaryllis watched with narrowed eyes as Kazuki finally walked around from behind the bear, now standing in front and petting its face. She lowered her arm to rest her hand on her hip, tapping her fingers away in clear frustration. Her foot might’ve stomped, too; she wasn’t sure. In all honesty, she was waiting for him to finally speak to her – it seemed he was only concerned, at the moment, with speaking to the bear. If she needed a new way to gather his attention, then so be it.
About to take a step forward, she paused in her tracks when she heard his voice pick up above the wind, talking to the bear aloud as he explained, “Relax. She is some what harmless.”
Her body froze. Harmless? He clearly wasn’t taking her seriously, and she felt her anger spike in retaliation. The wind picked up around the two, whipping their hair back and forth – she wasn’t sure if it was the natural air or if her anger was responsible for fueling the wind. In either case, the fact remained that he was looking for a beating. And that beating was coming from her own hands.
Taking another step forward, she was stopped once more when he spoke up again, this time speaking to her and explaining how he forgot their plans.
She glared in response, crossing her arms over one another and puffing her cheeks out. “That’s not an excuse. When you make plans, you follow through. Otherwise you’re unreliable.” Her harsh words cut across the field, carried by the wind and reaching his ears. Tightening her fists at her side, she murmured, “Now you’ll have to make it up to me.”

Kazu looked at her as she was taking steps forward feeling the killing intent increase with every step he just back away a bit. "Amary I'm sorry. I legit forgot. You know how I can be with remembering things." He said try and calm her down.
He kept looking at her as she stopped and talked. "I will make it up to you. Just that I forgot. I'm kinda clueless sometimes. Haha" he went on to say. What else was he suppose to say? It wasn't an excuse or anything. He just straight up forgot. He looked at her. He walked up to her and smiled at her a little bit. "I'll make it up to you in so many ways. You know that."

Amaryllis puffed her cheeks out childishly, turning her head to the side and glaring at a nearby tree to vent her anger. It was true; she knew he was like this. One could blame herself, even, for assuming he would show up on time, let alone at all. The upperclassman knew he was a year younger than herself, and probably didn’t prioritize things like a senior would. Seniors didn’t have the luxury to relax like juniors.
“I know you’re forgetful,” she finally sighed, turning her attention back to the boy in front of her. “But that’s no excuse. You need to work on that,” she argued, shaking a finger in his direction. Feeling her energy drained from her previous anger, she no longer felt the urge to kill Kazuki like she originally intended.
Instead she leaned her back on a nearby tree, folding her arms over one another and watching with interest as he walked closer to her, explaining how he was clueless and would make it up to her. She raised a delicate brow in response, her lips forming the question “And how will you make it up to me?” Part of her was curious what the third year had in mind, and part of her just wanted to blow him off and focus on her schoolwork. She did have a lot to catch up on, and it seemed her teachers only added more to the pile day by day.
Regardless, she chose to stand by and listen to what he had to say, hoping it peaked her bored interests somewhat.

Kazu looked at her in confusion. If anything he had to fix was his laziness. Kazu was probably one of the smarter kids, not just in his class but in the school. He barely did much work but still passed with A's hell his gpa wad 4.0. So he really didn't mind being lazy when it comes down to it cause he knows he can just ace any test. "Yea I know" he said to her when she said he had to fix his forgetful nature.
He looked up at the sky trying to think of something that could make up for ditching today. He really couldn't think of anything. Until he blurted out. "How about we go on a date." Once he said that, it registered in his brain what he said and just turned his face away. Kazu did have a crush on Amary. It wasn't a huge crush, but she was really pretty and he honestly didn't mind her anger or quietness sometimes. In fact sometimes she was cuter when she was angry.

After Amaryllis chided him, he responded with a begrudged “Yea I know.” She felt the urge to roll her eyes, but wisely held back. He really did need an attitude adjustment, but then again so did she. She knew she was far from perfect, and her anger did need to be kept in check most days, yet she did little to fix herself and take her own advice.
“How about we go on a date,” Kazuki suddenly blurted out.
She blinked. A date? What does one do on a date? This thought plagued her mind, but part of her was too embarrassed to ask it aloud. It’s not like anyone had asked her out before; being known around campus as the ice queen, most people, including guys, avoided her at all costs. In fact, Kazuki was one of the few people brave enough to interact with her and her wild temper.
Huffing out a sigh, she finally gathered the courage to ask, “What would we do on a date?” It was the easiest way to phrase her most curious question, and she waited patiently for his response, navy eyes staring in his direction.

Kazu was still looking away too embarrassed to even look back in the direction of Amary. Hell he would have loved for Night to bite down on his neck and end it there and not have to deal with either the anger of her with some thing stupid like that. From the time he has spent with her he did pick up some things. Obviously her anger and the fact most small things she didn't like. So a date? Was out of the question.
When she asked what they would do on this date. Kazu looked at her kinda dumbfounded. "Heh" was really that all came out of his mouth. Did she understand what he asked or what a date was? He cleared his throat. "Uhm anything you want? Or like a hike or go see a movie I don't know. Didn't really think you would ask what we would do. Honestly was expecting to be slapped half way across the forest." He chuckled a bit while scratching the back of his head nervously.

“Heh” was all Kazuki replied with immediately after her question, something that caused Amaryllis to raise a brow in response.
Honestly, she wasn’t sure why the two hung out. Ever. They were basically opposites, him with his lazy nature and her with her cold attitude. He was carefree, she was serious. He was easygoing, she was straightforward. The only thing the two had in common were their high grades, although how he maintained his with his lazy attitude was beyond her.
In some ways, however, he reminded her of her sister.
She paused at the thought, rethinking it over again. It was true; Nettle was the easygoing type much like Kazuki, and maybe that was why she found herself attracted to him.
Wait, attracted?
She quickly shook her head. Certainly not that. The two were just friends, and even that term she used loosely. They merely shared a higher intellect, nothing more. Certainly nothing romantic.
Her mind vaguely came back to focus on his words as he carried on, suggesting a hike or a movie. Amaryllis could use the exercise – she hadn’t been outside much as of late. Nodding this more to herself than to him, realizing she had yet to give a response, she coolly replied, “A hike would be nice.” Thinking it over, she threw in at the end, “Unless, of course, you’d rather me slap you halfway across the forest. You certainly deserve it.” Her eyes narrowed at him as she finished, waiting calmly for his answer.

Kazu looked at her as she shook her head ad he cocked his head in confusion a bit. He picked up a lot of things from all the animals he hung out with.
When she started to talk he just kinda smiled like a little kid excited for candy. He looked at her and just wanted to hug her but he knew that would end with him being killed. "A hike sounds nice I got just the spot too. Hell if you get tired I bet night over there wouldn't mind letting you ride her." As he said that that bear growled a deep growl as kazu just looked at the black bear. "Oh hush you." He said as he looked back at Amary with that childish grin.

After Amaryllis finished her speech, she noticed Kazuki was smiling at her and narrowed her eyes in concern. Why was he smiling? She just threatened to smack him across the forest. Maybe he was a masochist. She shook her violet hair; no, he was probably thinking something strange. She never could read his expressions.
Eventually he agreed on a hike, and she nodded her head to confirm. Yes, a hike would be nice. It was such a nice day out, too, and barely afternoon by this point in time. Although glancing down at her choice of clothes at the moment, spotting her thick T-shirt, long jeans, and flat shoes, she realized she should probably change before their hike if they were to make it today.
Kazuki made a comment about riding the bear, and Amaryllis gave him a bewildered look. Shaking her head, she murmured, “I’d rather the bear not tag along.” Even if he was able to communicate with it, she still didn’t feel comfortable with a wild animal nearby. It could always choose to attack at any given moment, taking advantage of his seemingly-willing friendship with animals.
Glancing at her watch on her wrist, she confirmed it was barely noon. “Let me run to the girls’ dorms to change into better clothes, and we can meet at your hiking spot in an hour.” Her eyes narrowed as she added, “Just don’t forget this time.”

Kazu nodded at the girl. That works he thought as he looked at the bear then back at her. "I'll wait for you by the fountain in the middle of the campus." He said as he was walking back to the bear.
He got next to Night and knelt down and looked at her. "I'll be going now. I'll hang out with you soon." He said as the bear just looked at him and took a couple steps to turn around and soon the bear was gone. He turned around to start heading back to wait for Amarya by the fountain like he said. It was a nice day. Not too hot but not too cold. So a hike was just perfect. As he got to the fountain he sat down at the edge and just waited.
As he was waiting he heard a screech as he looked up and saw a hawk. He put it out his arm as the hawk swooped down and perched itself on kazu's arm. "Hey Bri" he said. He nicknamed this hawk Bri for her bridal pattern on her feathers. As the hawk looked around. "You got any food like last time?" She said back to him through his mind. Kazu chuckled. "Sadly I don't. But I'll bring some next time I see you though." He responded as he took a finger and just started to rub the hawks chest. As it kept looking around. Kazu could feel a bit of disappointment coming from the hawk.

Kazuki agreed to her demands, suggesting to meet at the school fountain. She nodded her head in agreement before trekking off, her arms swinging limply by her sides as she walked through the woods and back on campus once more.
It really was a beautiful day out, she noticed; perfect for a hike. Normally she preferred the cool and rainy weather, but the sun felt nice against her skin, warming her down to the bone. A few clouds drifted lazily in the bright blue sky, with the occasional bird cawing in the distance. She was glad to see the seasonal changes affect this town, unlike her place back home.
Reaching the girls’ dorms, she reached in her back pocket and pulled out her key card, swiping it through the machine placed in front and letting herself into the building. Not many students lingered in the doorway, and she didn’t bother to check their faces for recognition as she passed them by and made it to her own dorm, closing the door quietly behind her.
Glancing at the clock on her wall, she realized she’d spent most of her time walking and had little of the hour left to change and make it back in time – and she was not being late. The last thing she needed was for him to hold that above her head. Lifting up her shirt and shimmying out of her pants, she quickly threw on a tank top and a snug pair of shorts, finishing off her look with a pair of sneakers to fit her comfortably. Throwing her long hair up in a tight ponytail, she took one last look at the clock and rushed out the door, lightly jogging the rest of the way to make their meetup on time.
As she neared the school fountain, she wasn’t surprised to find Kazuki there with a bird perched on his arm; he was almost always seen with an animal, and she held back the urge to roll her eyes. Instead, she slowed her jogging speed down to a walk as she neared him, giving a light wave as her response to spotting him. “So,” she started, hands on her hips as she stood before him. “Where is this hiking spot?”
