Sam laid there, listening to @emery. He knew she spoke the truth cause he felt her. She was so close he could feel her aura, her genuine concern for him despite her not knowing him, as if she no longer cared about him almost seeing her strip in the shower. And, this feeling, the feeling of a pretty girl caring about him, it gave him strength. The more she cared, the more he recovered.
Soon, Sam's skin returned to normal and all his expended energy recharged. "Sure. We can talk." He quickly got up and sat beside her as if he had all the energy in the world. "Name's Sam. Samael Darkfire." He said with a smile, especially since the girl seemed to have dropped her towel earlier when she was worried about him, which was fine as far as he was concerned. Girls didn't wear bras when they put on swimsuits. Her swimsuit, still a little wet from her swim a few minutes ago, gave him a generous display of her seductive figure.

Emery was startled to see the boy return from his shadowy form. She was honestly worried for a moment there. Despite his protests, she thought she’d have to call down a nurse to aide him. But he seemed more than alright at this moment, sitting beside her and chatting away. That was good.
He introduced himself as Sam, and she nodded her head in reply. “Nice to meet you, Sam. My name’s Emery.” She thought to herself for a moment before adding, “So have you always been able to manipulate shadows around you? Or was it something you learned?” She knew she shouldn’t ask so many questions, but she was genuinely curious about the matter. On top of that, she figured it was best to keep the boy talking. She didn’t want him to get depressed again, after all.

Sam paid close attention to @emery as she spoke, not out of politeness but because she looked so nice in her bathing suit. In fact, she looked so nice he wanted to hold her. He wanted to just grab her and put her on his lap so he might feel the warmth of her body. But, he was afraid. Last time he tried to touch her didn't go so well. She freaked out, almost killing him with a fireball. He was too shy to express his desire in words, so asking wasn't really an option either. "No, not always. All I know now, I learned from a cram session in the library last night."

Emery smiled a bit at Sam went on to explain his cram session in the library. “Do you go to the library often? I hang out there a lot, but I haven’t seen you before.” She paused for a moment, pondering, before adding in a joking tone, “Unless, of course, you were hiding in the shadows.”
Now that she thought of it, it was strange how the two met in the girls’ locker room. Emery didn’t have time before to ponder their situation – what with the drama of Sam passing out earlier – but now that she had time to stop and think, she realized he never did answer her question of why he was in the locker room. Had he been watching her? She shook her head. He seemed harmless enough; in fact, he was probably looking for a friend. She felt right in this assumption. He appeared like the lonely type, so she would do her best to comfort him.
Coming back to reality, she decided to reveal a bit about herself to lighten the mood. “As for me, I’ve had my pyrokinesis for several years now. I had to learn about it on my own, so I understand how tough it is when you’re first discovering everything.”
Realizing she’d been talking for most of their time together, she quickly added an apology. “Ah, I’m sorry! I’ve been talking too much.” She really needed to get a grip about that. Most people tend to enjoy talking, and she shouldn’t be the one to hog all the spotlight.

Sam thought about it. "It'd be kinda hard to read a book in the shadows. It's pitch black inside. Can't see a thing. Also, there's no body. I'm just a spiritual consciousness while within a shadow. Even if I could somehow learn to make light in there, it'd be pretty hard to read without hands. I could probably read a book outside a shadow while I'm inside a shadow, but even then I'd probably need someone to turn the pages. But, no. I don't go to the library often. After all, why read about girls when you can..." He gave @emery 's swimsuited figure a quick once over. "Um, well... Y-you know?"
Sam gave Emery a curious look. Was she thinking what he thought she was thinking? He smiled. Only one way to find out. "Yeah, I know, right? Talking can wait for when we're out in public." Suddenly, his cheeks reddened slightly. "But, w-when a boy is alone with a girl...?" He stopped, wondering if she could finish his sentience.

Emery nodded her head in agreement to Sam’s words. “I suppose you’re right.” When he mentioned reading about girls, she simply tilted her head in confusion. “Why would you read about girls? That doesn’t seem like an interesting subject.” Truly, this boy was a mystery to her. She didn’t understand his fascination with girls. Perhaps it had something to do with his history? Maybe he hadn’t been exposed to girls before? She couldn’t be sure without asking, but asking about one’s personal history seemed a bit forward at this point.
“Talking can wait for when we’re out in public.”
That was an odd statement to her. Why wouldn’t they talk? Surely he realized she only said she was talking too much so he could get the chance to talk, too. The stupid people-pleaser in her made her apologize for everything. She couldn’t help herself. She was a lost cause as far as that went.
“But, w-when a boy is alone with a girl…?” she heard him say.
Emery’s eyes widened. He was being awfully forward. She wasn’t stupid; she knew what he meant by that. But the two had just met, and she wasn’t interested in that kind of relationship. What she wanted was to be friends. She hoped he did, too. Standing up, she dusted herself off before bashfully replying with “I should probably change back into my regular clothes. Do you mind waiting outside the locker room till I finish?” The two could talk more when she was properly clothed, she figured, suddenly extremely self-conscious of her swimsuit.

Sam looked confused at @emery's words. Somehow, she seemed really put off by what he just said. Odd, considering she was the one that hinted at the topic in the first place, he was quite surprised to see her suddenly go on the defensive and want more clothing on. After all, she wasn't exactly exposed. She was in a one piece. It's not as if she was in a bikini. He sighed. Why is it a girl said one thing when she really meant the exact opposite of what she said? Such a way of speaking was bound to cause emotional suffering sooner or later. Maybe that's why his parents sent him to an all boy school? To protect him? "Y-you're right. I..." He got to his feet. "I probably shouldn't be in here while in my male form anyway." He started walking toward the exit.

Emery frowned. She didn’t mean to make Sam feel down. She wanted to be his friend. He seemed like he could use one, and she knew she did, too. “I’ll be only a minute!” she called out. Waiting for him to leave the locker room, she rushed back over to her locker and swung the door open. Taking her clothes out, she hurriedly stripped from her bathing suit before throwing on her typical school uniform – consisting of a skirt, button-up top, vest, and a tie. She slipped her dark shoes on when she was finished, and finally tied her hair back in its usual twin ponytails, securing them with blue ribbons.
Finished with her ensemble, Emery hurried back to the entrance of the locker room and gave a smile toward Sam, saying “All done!”
She was honestly impressed with herself. Usually she took her time with everything she did, so the speed in which she changed was something she wasn’t used to. Looking over at Sam, she decided to ask, “So what would you like to do now?”

Sam was standing outside the entrance to the girl's locker room, waiting for @emery. He had considered jumping into a shadow and shadow jumping right to his dorm room. After what just happened, he could use a good nap. Girls were hard to read. He still wasn't sure how to act around them. Perhaps it would be best if he avoided girls from now on?
But, Emery had asked him to wait. Sam couldn't just leave. He couldn't. If he ditched her, he was sure she'd give him hell next time he saw her. He was sure of it. He had no wish to pursue death by fire, so he stayed.
"I-I, um... Well, s-since we're here..." Sam blushed shyly as he scratched the back of his head. "Would you mind teaching me how to swim?" He felt so embarrassed at making such a request, especially since she just changed out of her swimsuit. But, in his defense, she practically kicked him out of the girl's locker room earlier, so she didn't really give him much of a chance to ask while she had her suit on.

Emery gave him a surprised look. He didn’t know how to swim? Why didn’t his parents teach him? She remembered her mother, as strict as she was, forcing her to learn on the off-chance she ever had to swim like her life depended on it. It gave her a warm feeling inside, remembering her mother. It also gave her a tremendous feeling of guilt on top of that, but she tried to desperately swallow that down and not focus on that. Something she was failing at.
Shaking her head, she turned back to face Sam and nodded her head in understanding. “Of course I will. Everyone should know how to swim. Although,” she paused, scratching her cheek in embarrassment. “I’m not a qualified teacher, so I might not be the best to teach you. But I’ll do my best.”
Turning once more to face the locker rooms, Emery looked over towards the boys’ room before asking thoughtfully, “You want to change and meet me by the pool? I’ll have to get changed again as well, but it shouldn’t take me long.”

Sam smiled, @emery was putting her suit on again. "Sure." He quickly changed into his swimsuit in the boy's locker room, then went to wait at the pool.
(That's fine. No rush.)

Emery nodded her head. As Sam went off to the boys’ locker room, she headed into the girls. Reaching her locker once more, she shook her head at having to change again; it would’ve been easier to stay in her swimsuit had she known he wanted her to teach him how to swim. Nevertheless, she found herself changing for the second time in the span of a few minutes as she took off her uniform to put on her school bathing suit. Taking out her hair ribbons as well, she placed them along with her clothes in her locker before closing it shut.
Padding over toward the pool in her bare feet, Emery had grabbed a new towel on her way out and held it close to her. Spotting Sam waiting for her by the pool, she gave him a friendly wave before placing her towel down on a nearby chair. She proceeded to walk around the pool’s edge and made her way over to the shallow end, stepping down carefully into the water from the steps.
Successfully into the pool, she motioned for Sam to follow her. “You should be fine coming in on the shallow end. You can stand in this part of the pool.” Thinking to herself, she decided to add, “I suppose we should start with the basics. First off, do you know any forms of swimming? Or have you never swam before?”

Emery padded around in the pool for a moment, enjoying herself. It was nice to have a day relaxing poolside. She wanted to get more chances like this, but alas, schoolwork had been keeping her plenty busy as of late. There wasn’t a day that went by when she wasn’t consumed to the head in schoolwork. Not that she minded. She enjoyed learning, unlike most of her other peers.
When Sam questioned her about swimming, she nodded her head. “Yes, there’s a few forms of swimming that I’m aware of. We’ll start with the basics, though, so don’t worry.” She gave an encouraging smile. “Why don’t we start with the doggy paddle? It’s very easy, you just swim like how a dog would.”
Placing her hands in front of her, she began swimming around the pool. “All you have to do is bend your elbows and paddle your hands in the water,” Emery called out, stopping back in front of Sam once more. “And bend your legs at the knees, kicking behind you. It’s much easier than it sounds. Give it a try if you’d like. If you have trouble, I’m here to help.” She hoped her words of encouragement would ease his mind. After all, trying something for the first time was bound to be scary.

Sam watched @emery's demonstration. He didn't quite understand what she said to do with his legs. Surely keeping his feet flat on the pool floor was far more appropriate than letting himself sink to the bottom and drowning. However, he did try the doggy paddling while standing. "L-like this?"
