POWER DESCRIPTIONS
After the brain ceases functioning and the heart stops beating, the spirit tends to vacate its vessel, leaving behind a husk with a residue of spiritual energy that will adhere to the body until the skeleton itself decomposes. This residual energy attached to the corpse is the catalyst that allows Toby to animate corpses ranging from skeletons all the way to freshly dead. When his powers originally awakened, his mere presence was enough to force corpses within 10 meters to reanimate; but after almost a year with the ability to animate corpses into obedient puppets, Toby has obtained a modicum of control over his power to animate the dead. During times of intense emotional stress, however, Toby can sometimes lose control and accidentally animate nearby corpses.
The undead that are raised utilizing the residual spiritual energy are mindless, with the maximum physical capabilities of the creature they were in life, and they merely respond to commands from Toby. Currently he can only give his animated zombies and skeletons verbal commands; and although Toby knows that it's possible to broadcast a spiritual energy signature to the undead, he hasn't quite figured out how to use this to broadcast nonverbal commands. Simple commands that are guaranteed to work are those that can be conveyed with a single verb, such as protect, attack, or follow a target. Asking undead to perform complex or vague tasks such as cleaning or chores requires incredible patience and supervision, and as a result it's usually just easier not to give undead complex tasks.
The current hard limit to the number of mindless undead that Toby can control or animate at any given time is around 20. The largest limit on the power itself though is the fact that society frowns upon animating corpses, whether or not those corpses belong to humans or animals. Not to mention, it's difficult for a 14 year old boy to get his hands on a single human corpse, let alone an army. So unless someone tries to pick a fight with him in a morgue it's highly unlikely that he'll have immediate use of his zombies hidden on campus. The corpses roused into a state of unlife tend to decay at the same rate as sedentary corpse, often going from zombie to skeleton in about a month.
In moments of distress, Toby subconsciously sends out a beacon that can call all of his undead from long distances, allowing undead that Toby's already raised to come to his aid in the case of emergency.
Although invulnerability isn't a power that he can really nurture, it's naturally the reason that he survived the car crash that killed his whole family when he was 13. Even without much nurturing, he's incredibly resistant to physical damage: his skin is as difficult to pierce as iron plate armor and his bones are nigh impossible to break. This power protects him from nearly all cuts and broken bones.
APPEARANCE
At the ripe young age of 14, Toby's just at the cusp of adulthood where his young body is slowly starting its transition into an adult; and due to the growth spurt he had after starting puberty, even without much exercise Toby has managed to obtain a rather lithe build, standing at a height of about 5'4”(162.56cm) with a weight of around 112lbs(50.8kg), which makes him just about average for his age. Also, despite his power requiring him to work around death and decay in order to get any practice, Toby has somehow managed to smell incredibly pleasant, almost like fresh blooming lavender; however, due to the amount of time he spends inside, his skin is a fair porcelain white.
Along with his whiter than white skin, Toby's crimson red eyes tend to make him stand out a little bit from the crowd, although at the school they aren't quite as unique as some of the other student's physical traits. In stark contrast to his pale skin, Toby has dull raven black hair styled in an incredibly shaggy and unkempt fashion, with several cowlicks and bangs that hang down past eye level, sometimes blocking his crimson eyes from view. His default expression appears blank and almost disinterested, despite how hyped he is on the inside for his favorite anime's most recent episode or his favorite manga's most recent chapter.
Toby has a rather simple style when it comes to personal clothing, where more often than not he's merely wearing his dark grey shirt with the left sleeve ripped off underneath a long brown cloak with a tall collar and to round out his outfit he wears loose-fitting black jeans with plain black slip-on sneakers. As far as jewelry goes, the only thing he keeps on him is a polished gold locket with a picture of him with his parents from before they passed away. The only time he really switches up his style is when he's forced to, or when he's going to bed.

PERSONALITY
Many say that the apple doesn't fall that far from the tree, and in the case of Toby and his father that's absolutely true. A lot of his dad's personality quirks rubbed off on him before his father died; and as a result of being around his father so much, he's an incredibly energetic individual with a great sense of humor, often acting very unlike what one would expect from a necromancer. With such an incredibly ebullient nature, Toby finds it pretty difficult to sit still and remain quiet for extended periods of time when he's bored, causing him to fidget a lot in class. When it comes to reading manga and watching anime, however, he'll get so engrossed in the stories and fun setting that he's almost like a completely different creature.
As another extension of his father, Toby has an innate air of amiability about him and approaches everyone with a certain sense of overt familiarity, often addressing even adults and superiors as if they were equals. While children tend not to take too much offense with being approached as an equal, most adults tend to find it incredibly rude. To add onto this, Toby has an incredibly difficult time remembering names, resulting in the preference of giving people nicknames based on their most obvious physical qualities or personality traits, which are much easier for him to remember.
Resulting partially from his age, Toby is almost unbearably competitive, comparing himself to others in games, test scores, and various other mediums. He absolutely hates losing; and on the occasions when he does lose, he becomes incredibly frustrated. Although this frustration doesn't manifest externally, this frustration can be an incredible motivator and it can drive him to put much more effort into improving than some of his peers might even consider, even if that means putting hours into becoming the best at playing a simple board game like Last Night on Earth.
Despite his childish qualities that some may find overbearing, Toby is also a relatively good natured individual, willing to risk his own well-being in order to help or protect others. He tends to be incredibly reliable in critical moments; because when dire situations arrive, Toby will move heaven and earth to protect the people close to him. When his friends cause problems in class, however, he is definitely more than willing to join in on the fun and add to their disruption, often getting him sent to the principal's office.
Outside of situations that won't cause any real harm to people, Toby has no qualms with running away to save his own skin.

BIOGRAPHY
On a warm summer day about 14 years ago in California, Toby was born into a warm loving family, his father a computer science engineer and his mother a nurse. As far as they were concerned, they were just a normal family living out a normal life, and for the most part they were. After Toby grew from a happy bouncing baby into a toddler, his mom gave birth to his little brother Timothy, who was just as bubbly as Toby was as a baby. In his earliest years Toby spent a lot of his time with his father watching Star Wars and Doctor Who while his mother watched cartoons with him, which is of course why Toby still loves anime and Sci-fi to this day. Both him and his brother had a pretty carefree life early on, only interrupted by the occasional injury from kids being kids.
When Toby finally entered public school he made a lot of friends. His bubbling extroverted personality drew the other kids to him, with almost every child having at least a moderately positive opinion of him; and, in his early years he was nowhere near the nuisance that he is now, getting incredible praise from each teacher in every grade. They made note that he was incredibly bright and hard-working, especially with his parents at home making sure he did his homework before watching cartoons or playing outside. When his brother started going to school he had the same success with friends, but he needed a lot more help with his homework than his brother, Toby. Tim hadn't quite inherited the intellect of his brother, so he needed a little bit of help in order to do his homework, usually math.
This fairytail family life lasted all the way until Toby reached the ripe age of 13, when his family took a summer vacation to Florida. While driving north from Miami to Orlando his family got into a horrific car accident on the highway, killing both his parents. It was during this accident that Toby's powers awakened, with his invulnerability saving him from suffering the same fate as his loved ones. While the flipped car caught aflame, Toby pleaded with his parents' corpses to wake up, and mere moments later his parents responded awaking from their lull and answering his call for help. As they turned to help him, Toby at first was flooded with an intense joy that they had survived, and it wasn't until he saw the glazed over look on their faces that he realized something was wrong.
It wasn't until later he'd be able to identify them as zombies; but due to the incredible amounts of damage to the car, even the zombies couldn't help Toby out of the car, as the front end had been smashed in pinning both his mother and father in place. It wasn't until he was rescued by police that him and his brother were rushed to the hospital. While he didn't appear to need any immediate care, his brother was rushed to the ICU. Unfortunately his brother didn't make it and he was eventually sent to live with his godparents, who at first accepted him into their home. It only took a few weeks to realized that everywhere that Toby went dead bodies came back to life, especially the old dead pets buried in the back yard.
It was at this time that Toby was immediately enrolled into and sent off to Aurora Academy. It's only been about 6 months since his family died, and he's trying his best to hide the pain by playing the role of his overly exuberant self from before the car accident. It's only when he's alone though that he stops putting on this facade, and his facial expression sinks into one of true despair.
