it's now or never
i've got to make my decision
this time it could be my moment

The darkness engulfed him, body and mind. His eyes were closed to the world-- not that it mattered, his eyes were practically useless up here anyway. The young man stood on the precipace of a roof on top of an old manor out in the middle of the forest. It was a good distance away from the school-- but for some reason Vin felt drawn here. Everything was black, if not for the faint moonlight shining down from the sky he would have trouble seeing anything. His head tilted back as he looked up toward the sky. There were so many lights, if he had thought he may have wished to snuff every last one of them out, perhaps then it would mimic the world he lived in. But no, he didn't think like a person anymore, that was a luxury he didn't have. His thoughts were simple, limited to actions, ideas, concepts; never a clear picture. never fully pieced together. It was hard to believe that such a person managed to function, if one could call him a person anymore. At best he was an animal and at worst-- he was a tool. That's exactly what he was, what he had become. A tool that required no hands to operate, a smoking gun to be pointed at whoever the owner wished to see dead.
Mine.
Yes, he was not a person owned to himself anymore. He was of a greater cause fighting for Drakon, ridding the world of metas, creating a safe haven for human to live without the oppression of god-like beings ruling over their daily lives. His mission would not be complete without eliminating every last one of them.
"You're wrong." A voice spoke from behind him. Vin didn't need to turn around to see the raven haired girl, his chi picking her up. He could hear her footsteps as she drew nearer to him. "You know it, deep down. You could have avoided all of this." She stopped next to him and gestured down below at the earth. Corpses. He couldn't see their faces, but he knew them. He knew each one of them. Some of them he had laughed with, cried with, cared for. "And yet you did nothing to prevent it." She shook her head. "You really are a monster."
"Yes, that's what you are!" Another voice gnashed out into his ear, the decomposing face mere inches from his own, yet the teen showed no sign of reaction. "A monster who slaughters people like a child stepping on ants, snuffing out their hundreds of lives! That's what I was-- what we all were to you! Ants scurrying around your feet!"
"But you belong to us, now." A third chipped in, his words gurgling through the stream of blood oozing from a fresh cut to the neck. "You are ours to claim!"
More forms chimed in, advancing on him, the chaos of voices and cries of anger, sorrow, they were enough to drive a man mad. Vin didn't move, didn't blink. The silence was deafening.
"But it doesn't have to be like this..." The first girl spoke again, her voice tinted with sorrow, a small smile touching the corner of her mouth. "You can still fight it. I know you're in there, Vin. You can still break free!"
No.
Her form wilted and withered as though the very life were being sucked from her, flesh turned grey and wrinkled before becoming dust. A calm gust of air blew her away, ruffling the hood of his robes. What was this, the third time? It was the third time he'd seen her face in the past week and yet he still couldn't recall who she was. She was ever familiar, ever happy to see him and sad to part, always talking about freedom. It was a concept he didn't understand, one he didn't care for. He had a mission. A purpose he was to fulfill. Vin inhaled and slowly let it out. A massive burst of chi exploded from him sending out an overwhelming flare of power. Animals scurried from him, birds woke groggily and took off into the night sky. Every living thing could sense it-- but only one he knew would know the meaning behind it.
