[attr="class","sf_body"] [attr="class","sf_text"]Now graduated, Callum had little to do with what happened at the Academy outside school hours. When he wasn't marking or weighed down by the duty of parenting Múirne, he preferred to venture out into the woods, something his old self might have been less inclined to do. By now the occasional spider web or unidentifiable creature rarely bothered the teen. He was hardly the same boy who preferred to stay cooped up in his dorm reading articles - although the idea still appealed to him. The great outdoors offered Callum a new sense of freedom, something he could probably never get enough of. All his life he'd been surrounded by rules. Do this. Don't do that. Whether it was his parents, his schools, or even society, there were always rules. Don't dishonor the family. Don't cheat on your tests. Don't hug your students. Some idiots claimed all rules were made to be broken, and Callum had never come so close to testing that theory until the day before. Catching sight of Artemis in the school hallways, he had felt his feet carrying him in her direction almost before he even knew it. Losing his job wasn't going to get him any closer to becoming the person he wanted to be one day, or doing the things he wanted to do. But the rules, they were really starting to piss him off, almost like some brat child who kept slapping you, knowing full well you couldn't slap them back.
Conscious of his growing thirst, Callum veered off the central path when he thought he heard water. The light delicate pad of his feet finally became an audible noise as he picked up the pace, skirting around the trees and brambles as though he actually had some sense as to where he was going. He'd heard of the waterfalls, seen a whole map of the nature park even, but Callum had never come face to face the Silver Falls themselves.
Swatting away at the cobwebs that barred his path, he soon found himself on a light trail. It looked neatly trodden like it was some sort of animal trail. Pressing onwards, the dull thrum of distant waters soon became a thunderous roar and Callum found himself standing on a small bluff, peering down at the waterfalls themselves.
To his left was a trail that led between crags and rocks, leading towards the river bank, but the loose gravel made the cool water below all the more tempting. Testing his footing, Callum managed to climb and slide his way onto the grassy river bank, crouching next to the nearest pool of water for the drink he really needed.

I’m Still Breathing, The dreams had been more frequent now, where some night she dreamt of nothing now every night she sees his face. Relives what they did, what he made her do. Was she angry with him, of course she was! He took her brother hostage and blackmailed her to continue their little escapade of ‘pretending’ to work for Drakon, to bring them down from the inside he told her. It was all bullshit. Maybe once, at the start, he really thought they could do it but the more they stayed, the more they took on missions and did Drakon’s bidding…the more he changed and became like them. In the end, she left him. She had help getting her brother out and then she left him. Yes a part of her felt sorry, it’s probably why she dreams of his face…but she had no choice. She needed to protect her brother, her family…
But now. Something was different now. The dreams she was having felt too real, like a message that something or someone was coming. She trembled at the thought of him being alive still, still living in Drakon’s shadow and still hunting them. Well…if he was coming she would resolve to end him. That was the least she could do for her once friend.
Artemis continued to let the water pelt down over her, the cool waterfall helping to wash about her thoughts and her nightmares. It was truly amazing that she had even found this place. She was wondering the forest looking for somewhere she could meditate and ease her mind and that’s when she found the waterfall. She had promptly taken her jacket off, baggy t-shirt and shorts but left her singlet top on and underwear – she wasn’t about to swim nude. From then on, she jumped into the water and just swam around before coming up to the waterfall itself and testing out how heavy it was falling. Lucky for her it wasn’t too hard so she got herself up on the rocks and just stood there closing her eyes.
The water had made her long hair stick to her skin as it parted around her face, not to mention her soaked clothing did wonders to show off just how womanly she had become. Satisfied she had gotten all the old thoughts of a time she should forget out of her mind, she stepped out from under the waterfall and held her hand to her forehead and she looked up towards the sky, the sunny bathing her form and making it tingle as it dried up some of the water on her skin. It truly was a beautiful spot and it was amazing that no one else had found it, or so she assumed. None the less she had decided she would spend a lot of her time him just to get away from everything, this was going to be her spot. Beats the tea rooms that’s for sure.

[attr="class","sf_body"] [attr="class","sf_text"]As the cool water trickled down his throat, Callum would look across the flat surface of the water to see something that immediately made his mouth dry...something...that wasn't flat at all. Choking, the senior pushed himself to his feet, wide-eyed and drawing the back of his hand to stifle a cough. Beneath the thunderous roar of the waterfall, it was unlikely Artemis would notice a weak cough, but Callum wasn't prepared to make himself entirely known.
Of all the things he could have expected fate to deliver him today, seeing Artemis half-naked definitely hadn't been on the list. Seeing Artemis naked hadn't even crossed his mind and Callum simply stood there along the river bed, red faced and a little dazed. Should he call out to her? Just walk away?
Immediately, the man's bicolored gaze scanned the area once more, searching intently for anything that would reveal the presence of another. Nobody else should ever be able to witness Artemis in such a vulnerable form, but to his relief, there was nothing, no sign of life that indicated another peeping tom nearby. It was just the two of them...alone.
Returning to stare at Artemis, Callum couldn't deny feeling entranced by her. He'd always thought Artemis was beautiful, but that had more to do with her caring nature than her physical form. Gazing at her now, there was something a little more 'physical' about his attraction.
Moving slowly so as not to draw her attention, Callum slipped off his shoes, rolling up his jeans as far as he could. He tugged the loose material of his shirt over his head, wading quietly into the river. The numb current immediately froze his legs, and at first, Callum wondered how Artemis could stand it.
But as he drew nearer to his friend, he felt a new warmth, a feeling that spread from his chest, into his veins, even flooding his cheeks with a light rosy hue. He acted almost without thinking, letting habit and old memories drive him as he reached out tentatively.
His gentle fingers would skim her waist for just a second before Callum pulled her gently against his chest, resting his forehead against her shoulder. It might startle her, for sure. But how else was he supposed to say 'hello'?

I’m Still Breathing, Artemis was so lost in her own world that she failed to notice anyone around her, she could have easily been shot and she wouldn’t have known anything till it was too late…ok bad example but you get the idea. So, when she felt a warm hand brush her waist followed by the chiselled body of a man sink into her own and the weight of his head on her shoulder she couldn’t help but be thoroughly freaked! So much so that she screamed and moved to push him away which only served in her losing her footing and to her surprise she was falling whilst still in this strange man’s arms.
It all happened so quickly that she couldn’t really compute what was going on. She never had known anyone to have tattoos but she swore she saw some in that short fall into the pool bellow. When her body hit the water, it sent a shiver and a moment of panic as she wasn’t sure if this person was trying to drown her or say hello…in some messed up kind of way to say hello. It wasn’t until he had let her go in the confusion of it all that she saw what was going on. Mind you it was under the surface of the water but she saw who was her would be attacker. It was Callum! The very idiotic Callum who just about nearly killed them both. She started to kicked and move her arms about to get her head above the water. There was a vague memory of Callum not being able to swim so she also reached out for him and begun to kick so they both could surface.
As so as Artemis had surfaced and was satisfied that Callum had too she yelled at him. “What the hell do you think you are doing!?” It wasn’t quite said so fluidly that it ran off the tongue like that, rather it was said through breaths, the kind where you are trying to get as much oxygen into your lungs because you felt so deprived only moments ago. “Are you crazy!” As Artemis started to get air into her lungs and with the more she looked at Callum she couldn’t bring herself to be too mad – first of all she had brought her attention to his tattoos once more and this seems to hush her rant of him trying to kill her. “Callum…what are you” She was about to say ‘doing here’ but it suddenly dawned on her that he wasn’t drowning like he had once told her he probably would. Callum couldn’t swim, that much she remembered. “You’re swimming?” She genuinely smiled at him has the both tread water, actually she let a soft laugh escape her lips “Time really has changed us.” It seemed for now that she had forgotten her anger and was just happy to be proud of him and his new found ability to tread water…as silly as that sounds.

[attr="class","sf_body"] [attr="class","sf_text"]What happened in the next few moments was a rather terrifying experience Callum should have expected. In all her beauty, Artemis was still a clutz. By that I mean she couldn't take his sudden appearance with the same cool demeanor she had bore the night before. No, the crazy woman practically pushed him into the water, and Callum didn't have enough sense to let her go. Something about holding onto her made him feel safe, until he was fully submersed in water, that is.
Panic seized his form, his arms fanning out like wings to hopefully aid in getting his bearings. Whatever Artemis considered 'treading' water, Callum definitely wasn't doing it as gracefully, but he tried. For the moment he was successful in remaining afloat in the water, but the man could feel the familiar squeeze in his chest that would warn him in just a few moments he would start sinking like a rock.
Immediately latching onto the stone face behind him, Callum shot Artemis a hostile look, the kind of look a cat gives you after it's been sprayed with water. When she asked what he was doing, the reply was blunt and obvious. "Saying hello..." But he would roll his eyes as she continued to rant, clearly alarmed by his sudden appearance.
Her parting words would earn herself a small frown, and Callum shook his head a little, hoping to rid the feeling of water swooshing around in his brain. "Look, you really need to stop stating the obvious." Time had changed them? Of course it did. That's what time does. But the soft smile that tweaked her lips was enough for the man to keep his rather blunt comment to himself.
Instead, Callum brushed his hair to the side, covering his one crimson eye as he spoke. "Sorry, if I startled you Miss Nike." He sunk a little further in the water, almost as though he were trying to hide from her piercing stare. "I really just was saying 'hello'. I hope you don't mind." His lips curved in the beginnings of a smirk, though there was no malicious intent behind his gaze.
Oddly enough, Callum was happy. He was happy that for the first time in years things felt...normal. He was happy that he was finally able to be around someone who made him feel warm inside, someone, who despite almost killing him, made him feel safe. And the rules? Well, to hell with those. They didn't matter in the woods when they were alone.

I’m Still Breathing, It didn’t take long for the boy to make her angry again, what was wrong with stating the obvious? Time had changed them and the sooner they accepted their past the sooner they BOTH could move on. What if all she wanted was someone to talk to about it, what if she just wanted to open up and cry, what was so wrong with the obvious? It’s not like he didn’t do the same, apologising for startling her, that’s a bloody understatement! And now he looks all angry at her as if she drowned him! What did he expect? She had been to hell and back and lived in fear for so long you think that would just go away because someone you used to know gives you a hug when you least expect it?!
Just like he had made her so fired up with his bluntness he seemed to put water over the raging fire. She remembered she once told him that she wanted to be able to give him a hug every time they said hello and goodbye. Of course he would take that literal though, even in the most stupid of places he would hug her to say hello. Even if that meant a waterfall where no one else was meant to be around. It did confuse her though, the last time she hugged him she was met with a rather hard push to move away from him. This time though… it was like he let his guard down, brought it back up and now with that rather cheeky looking smirk was bringing it back down again.
She had to admit, it was that smirk that made her rather self-conscious of her predicament. She even started to blush and thus found it harder to keep her eyes on his, but she did manage to correct him. “My name is Artemis.” She said simply with a slight pout before she looked away wondering how she was going to get out of the water and keep some form of modesty. Right now, she was kicking herself for thinking this was a great idea. She was also kicking herself for thinking about giving him a hug again. It has always been like that, they were just a huggable pair. Maybe because they had been so deprived of the right to feel loved or be held that they clung to each other for that warmth embrace. Whatever it was, she in a way regretted that he let her go.

[attr="class","sf_body"] [attr="class","sf_text"]The impish smirk would not be beaten by her firm reply, instead, it would only grow into a smile as Callum watched her pout. They were alone, and he'd already crossed the line by being this close to a student, especially without a shirt. So what more was a little informality towards her name? "Sorry for startling you, Artemis." He repeated, in the deep rumble that had become his voice. "Though I never imagined you'd be so easy to sneak up on."
'Easy', as in she'd had practically all of her senses nullified by standing under a waterfall and still hadn't witnessed his approach. But before she could discount him as a jerk, he waved a hand in a rather apologetic fashion. "You know I would've thought with your whole...aura thing..." He trailed off with a shrug. She hadn't sensed him coming, and if he was honest that pleased him. In some odd fashion, it meant that maybe he was growing more accustomed to 'stealth'.
Before the idea could grow roots in his brain and fashion another cocky smirk, Callum paddled uneasily towards the stone alcove, using strong forearms to pull himself onto the wet rocks. As the water was ripped away from his torso like a soft fabric, it was clear that time had changed him, or rather Callum hadn't been idle in the last year.
His well-muscled arms and chiseled torso had definitely been absent during his time at Hinan Academy. Whatever rigurous and mysterious work he'd done, it had paid off for Callum who now looked less like a boy and more like a man. Of course he still fell short of Dartz's beast of a body, but the tall, lanky piano-nerd
Running a hand through his hair, Callum shot Artemis a thoughtful glance, offering her his hand in case she also wanted to get out. Everything inside him, though content, was equally on edge. What if someone saw them? What if he got fired. Why on earth, did Artemis have to be a student? Why did she have to be here?
Callum would have given almost anything for her safety. Her well-being would always be important to him. And yet here she was, safe, in the same city as him, and a small part of him was disappointed. He was lulled by the dark sinister thought that convinced him he'd betrayed her. Callum had given her up, given up all his feelings and memories of Artemis in return for a new strength, a strength that seemed to dwindle dramatically in her presence. Times like this it felt like his 'old self' was creeping back up on him, and unable to resist her pull on his heart, Callum felt like he hadn't changed at all.
Swallowing his bitterness, he offered a weak smile reaching further over the water to Artemis."You're gonna turn into a fish if you stay in there much longer."

I’m Still Breathing, He apologised sincerely and she relaxed, or was it because he actually used her name? After a moment, she thought it was because he used her name, when he said (or was it the way) ‘Miss Nike’ it just made her feel like his junior, his student and not his friend. It was uncomfortable too, I mean he IS a teacher and she IS a student so for them to be like this in the water, well it was meant to be wrong, right? His next comment took her by surprise, it wasn’t really what he said but actually what it meant. Normally she was a really hard person to sneak up on because she could sense auras before the person they belonged too even showed themselves. But this time was different, she hadn’t sense him, rather she was so consumed by her own fears and doubts about her nightmares that she was completely devoid of her sensitive nature. To that she frowned, there was something uneasy about being at this school and in a way, it seemed to dull her senses when she thought about negative things. But she would ponder on that another time, right now she had bigger things to worry about.
Her eyes had widened and she couldn’t stop herself from reacting to what she was seeing. This definitely wasn’t the Callum she remembered. She felt her cheeks grow warm as his muscles flexed as he raised his body out of the water, now his tattoo was clear as day and she couldn’t help but admire the intricate work. When he turned to face her, now standing at his full height she couldn’t keep her eyes on his and had to look away in fear of him seeing her blush. In the end, she decided that it might just be better to look at the space around him, his aura instead. That way she wouldn’t have to see how much he had ‘changed’.
In doing that though she did notice a few things that he probably didn’t want her aware of. His aura showed him to be conflicted and around his heart chakra, well that was an interesting sight. It was fighting to be open, actually, it was swelling as if fend off his logical train of thought in order to be heard. In the end, Artemis had to even look away from that. It was clear as day this man was conflicted by her and if he could read aura’s he would noticed the same with her. It was always like this; they were always so…complex. She had so many feelings about him and to have him here in front of her, in little but wet jeans was almost all a poor girl to take.
It wasn’t until he spoke that she realised he had his hand out towards her and at first she looked at it with hesitation. She thought about it more before kicking her legs to head over in his direction and reaching out. Her hand fell neatly into his and it was warm to touch, even after having been in the cold water with her. It wasn’t like she really needed his help to get out but she decided it rude to not accept his offer. With one swift movement, he was able to lift her light form out and consequently water washed over her skin as if it was screaming to join the river it was torn from. She couldn’t help but feel for the water because right now she was soaked and standing in front of Callum wishing she could fall back in and be covered again.
Aware that he hadn’t let her hand go she wondered what was to happen now? Maybe they should just start over and given each other a proper hug hello, like always. Maybe it was too strange to do that now. Instead, Artemis sort of just stood there in front of him, the sun once again tickling her skin as it dried the beads of water falling from her. There was so much to talk about with him and so much to learn about him now but where to start? Eventually, she let his hand go and moved that hand across her ribs to rest on her other arm dangling at her side. Her eyes looking down and for the first time, she actually felt a little vulnerable. “So… I'm not a fish” She finally said with a soft smile all too aware it was a ridiculous thing to say, it probably only served to make her look rather cute in her awkwardness.

[attr="class","sf_body"] [attr="class","sf_text"]Another greeting definitely seemed in order, but Callum was a little hesitant. There was no denying his annoyance at the rules, and he was not blind to the fact that they were still student and teacher. Out here in the boondocks, nobody would ever know. But, if he kept hugging Artemis now, who's to say it wouldn't make it harder not to in the future? Who's to say it wouldn't make him careless at the academy? Callum's heart ached at the thought of not being near Artemis, but every logic-biased nerve he'd come to accumulate in the last year seemed to be warning him this physical touch thing was a bad idea.
Man up, King Blue. Quit fuckin' around and hug the girl already. No sooner had Callum settled on 'doing the right thing', a little devil would pop up in his head, one bearing a voice he was all too familiar with...Dartz. Don't let some foddy-doddy logic run your head - You know I'd kick your ass for being such a wimp if I could. I know, Callum would have rolled his eyes if Artemis weren't still standing before him, soaked to the bone. But, Really? Foddy-doddy was the best you could come with? Don't pick a fight with me boy. You know who'd win. The threat would hang in the air between them before the conversation was over, just as abruptly as it had begun.
Callum, who appeared have rather spaced-out while he'd been talking to himself, was drawn to the present by a sweet voice, something he quite preferred over the malicious little brat who had taken up mental real estate in his skull. But the man immediately noticed something was different about Artemis this time, and it wasn't the lack of clothing or how tightly it clung to her curvy form. Why wasn't she looking at him? Were the rocks and waterfall really more interesting than the man who stood before her, an old friend she hadn't seen or really talked to in over a year?
Reaching forwards, this time, Callum tapped her the underside of her chin with a single digit. The slow, gentle gesture was meant to turn her face upwards to meet his gaze. "What's wrong, Artemis? " Standing under a waterfall probably wasn't the best place for these conversations. And despite the warm rays of sun that only just reached him, Callum could already feel a chill setting in. But he was afraid if he left this place he and Artemis couldn't be as close as they were now.
Giving in to the cocky voice he'd argued with earlier, Callum's finger would travel up her cheek where his whole hand would rest upon her head. Very gently, as if coaxing a shy animal he pulled his friend back into his embrace, wrapping his arms securely around her waist. It was a proper hug this time.
Like every time he was close to Artemis, Callum found himself entrance by how snuggly they seemed to fit together, and not just in a physical sense. One touch from Artemis put everything at rest. His racing heart, the convoluted trail of thoughts that screamed out this was wrong, even the chill he'd felt moments earlier seemed to be nullified by the girl, no, the woman before him. And in despair he wondered, How can I not break the rules when Artemis makes me feel this way? Easy. Stop being a fucking wimp.

I’m Still Breathing, For a moment there was just silence, her silly words left to hang in the air between them and Artemis didn’t know if she liked it that way or if she just wanted him to do something other than stare at her. She had never been this exposed in front of a person before, it was a rather strange feeling and right now she didn’t like it one bit. It was uncomfortable and embarrassing and exposing and making her feel weird and and…and… Artemis’s brain just stopped working. Every single thought left her mind and her whole body tensed up. What was he doing, why was he doing it and why couldn’t she make her body move away. Had she been that deprived of the feeling of warmth that she would just let him do this.
His finger soon slowly made its way along her jawline until the rest of his hand followed to the back of her head, his fingers entangling in her hair and drawing her in. At first she thought he was about to kiss her and she went to raise her hands to push him away but they only seemed to softly land on his chest as her body sunk into his and her head rested close to his beating heart. Her eyes were still wide by the movement and her body still tense but soon she found herself relax into him and her eyes close. She took in his scent remembering how it was so long ago, even now it was the same. The only way she could describe it was that it smelt like autumn.
As the two of them stood wrapped in each other’s embrace they both seemed to find a sense of solace and maybe a little happiness too. For Artemis it was like coming home. She felt like his hugs reminded her of everything good and everything innocent and of a time before her hands were tainted and her mind filled with nightmares. Rather, she liked that right now she only thought of the good things and the bad stuff didn’t matter anymore. Though the sadness didn’t escape her because hugging him made her remember Dartz too, and what they had. Callum and Dartz were as much a part of her life as her own little brother was so having one of those three back right now was enough to cause Arte’s lips curl into a soft smile and for her chest to rise with a deep inhale as she relaxed even more into his embrace.

[attr="class","sf_body"] [attr="class","sf_text"]For the first time today, despite holding her in his arms, Callum suddenly felt very, very far from his friend. The quiet, grave tone she used to speak to him, and the distant look in her eyes saddened him. It was as though their hearts were still far away from each other, even though their bodies were right there. Something just...wasn't right, and now that he'd noticed it, that 'something' felt a lot bigger, and a lot meaner than before.
"Artemis, what happened to you?" He finally asked, his voice rumbling with uncertainty. "How did you get here, and what happened to..." Callum trailed off, almost wanting to forget about the third member of their squad. Callum didn't have high hopes for Dartz, wherever he was, and he bit his lip soon after having mentioned him.
He knew he was asking a lot from Artemis. Maybe she didn't want to talk about it just as much as he had hoped to avoid the subject, and perhaps the cove of a waterfall wasn't the best venue for this conversation. But Callum needed to know, as if he thought somehow knowing about her experiences the last year would help fill in the gap that seemed to sink between them.

I’m Still Breathing, The mood was ruined and Artemis came to her senses, what was she thinking anyway. Moments like this weren’t for her anymore, she didn’t deserve moments of quiet happiness where she could grow hopeful her fears would go away. Rather she was always faced with the questions of what happened? How did you get here? Where have you been? Are you ok?
Of course she wasn’t ok, of course a lot has happened and she is colder and a little standoffish. As for getting here…well she just found it. What does it matter anyway! Everything she knew and loved was taken from her. She can’t see her brother anymore, not that she could before but now it’s even harder thanks for Vin. She doesn’t know what happened to Dartz only that he is the reason she still has breath in her lungs. She came here to forget, to move on, to start over! Why come to this spot where she was right now and give her all these strange emotions that she didn’t know how to deal with and then somehow make her feel kind of better only to bring up what she had been running from for the last year?!!
Outwardly her body didn’t portray her inward annoyance, rather she pulled away from him and proceeded to walk along the rocks to her clothes. She contemplated if she would tell him, it wasn’t like there was any harm in it but her sanity. Then again maybe it was what her sanity needed? Ever since Hinan and the events after, Artemis hadn’t been able to open up to anyone. To tell anyone just what had happened to her, but what makes her ready to do that now? However, she knew she wasn’t ready to talk about Dartz and especially not with Callum. The two had been very close and she knew that if she explained they he sacrificed himself to save her life then he’d probably never forgive her. It wasn’t her fault though, he had told her to run, yelled at her until she did and deep down she knew that if she didn’t run he would never forgive her.
It was in that moment that Arte felt tears roll down her cheek. The warm liquid staining her skin and causing her hand to raise to her face to meet the falling tear. She was stunned, she hadn’t cried in so long that she thought she had forgotten how or that the tears had all dried up. Now here she was, tears freely flowing and she couldn’t help but hug herself and then let out a scream. She wanted to get away from this feeling, from the feeling of loss and helplessness. She sunk to her knees and reached for Dartz’s jacket, pulling it up to her face and crying into the fur collar. It still smelt like him and it was all she had left. Why did Callum have to ask the question, why did he have to make her remember? And why didn’t he come looking for her when she needed someone to be there for her the most!

[attr="class","sf_body"] [attr="class","sf_text"]Not everything could be fixed with a hug. Callum watched Artemis pull away, walk away even, like she was ignoring him. It was as though every step she took would force the gap between them wider, and wider still until Callum felt like he was faced with a dizzying reality. Maybe he and Artemis just....weren't friends anymore. Maybe time had changed them, so much so that the moments they used to have were now only possible in his dreams. Artemis just...wasn't the same.
Callum felt a rush of protectiveness for his friend, and an unshakeable guilt that he hadn't been there for her. He was the one who hadn't gone back. He was responsible for whatever had happened to Artemis...and Dartz.
Realizing Artemis had made it all the way to where her clothes were, Callum began to follow her, though his feet were heavy, like he'd been chained down. The man would be rooted to the spot as he found himself faced with Artemis, the only woman who'd ever shown him kindness, screaming in agony.
And its all your fault. Regret seemed to whisper ruefully in his ear. The jacket she pulled up to her face looked familiar now, and Callum lowered his gaze. That jacket meant something. It meant Dartz cared about Artemis more. It meant Callum hadn't been there, and even if he explained everything from the beginning, he could never justify not going back.
In the silence that followed, Callum didn't know what to say. Once they had shared their brokenness with each other, now, he wasn't sure he wanted to. Now, everything was more complicated.
"Why don't you come back to my place, for a bit?" Callum almost wished he hadn't chosen to speak in the moments that followed, but the offer had already been made. "I don't live far from here, just over the ridge really. You can get dry, and maybe a warm meal would do you some good." It was very clear to him a meal wasn't going to solve any thing. But he hadn't been there to care about Arte before, the least he could do was start making up for it now.

I’m Still Breathing, It was all just too much for her to bear, how could she deal with this? Maybe she needed someone to talk to after all… When he offered for her to come back to his she didn’t say no. She was tired and now cold and going back to school just didn’t seem so appealing to her. Standing she didn’t look at him, she still clutched the jacket between her fingers only to then swing it over her shoulders while she reached down for her shorts. His place might not be far but she wasn’t about to just walk around in her underwear so she slid her legs through the pant holes and pulled her shorts to her waist to button up.
“Guess that would be nice” She finally said as she wiped away tears. She had somehow managed to calm herself down, the scream actually helping to relieve some of the stress she was feeling. She didn’t say anymore though, what was there to say. It was clear he wanted to know the answers to his questions and maybe she would tell him once they were at his place. That thought reminded her of when she used to visit him, she’d get odd looks because she always visited and he never seemed to have visitors, well that was before he moved in with Dartz and Vin. When he was on his own they would talk for hours and she felt safe at his place more than she did at her own, maybe that’s why she found herself so falling in step behind him as he led her to his place.

[attr="class","sf_body"] [attr="class","sf_text"]Callum tried not to take it personally, he really did. But the flat tone Artemis used only seemed to agitate him. He wasn't used to her when she was like this, but this cold shoulder was still far better than he deserved. So, the man squared his shoulders, taking a deep breath. "Yeah, it would."
Pulling on his shirt, Callum hooked his shoes between his fingers. He'd rather walk barefoot on the stoney trail than track mud into his sneakers. Casting Artemis a hesitant glance, he soon lowered his gaze.
He wanted to say something, a single phrase that would work like a charm. He wanted Artemis to be happy again and it wanted to have something to do with it. Deep down Callum knew the only further thing he could offer her was more anguish and a greater feeling of loss, so he turned away, nodding in the direction of his settlement. "It's this way...not too far."
