[attr="class","howlingstorm"]Everything hurt. Her head, her heart, her body. Everything but her right arm, as per usual. She could barely see, but boy could she feel. Her shoulder felt like they were going to be ripped from their sockets, her arms trussed up above her head and bound together with a single steel manacle that was chained to the ceiling. She could see the faint outline of a massive door ahead of her, the type you'd see in garages perhaps, but the space was too wide to be a garage. She ignited a spark in the air in front of her, and in the next moment the lights flashed on to blind her. She shut her eyes tightly as a deep laugh reverberated through the room. She cracked her eyes open, and to her surprise she was essentially the only thing in the room. Well, save for a half dozen armed men and the cocky son of a bitch walking towards her with his hands in a constant slow clap. She wanted to shock him, and she tried to, but to her dismay found that she just couldn't manage it.
You're kidding me... Fear lanced through her mind as she grit her teeth and stared up at the man. She was distinctly aware of how the bandages and gauntlet she wore on her right arm were gone, the only reminder of her last four years the cobalt pendant tightly clutched in the that hand. She could remember the pendant from memory. She'd committed every last detail about it to her mind, after all.
It was a cobalt dragon, curled around and clutching an amber orb, small bits of jade where its eyes would be that winked out cleverly when it reflected the light. It had been an anniversary gift from Corvou.
The man before her wasn't one she recognized, but the power he gave off was.
Power Negation. The ability to nullify all supernatural abilities except one's own.
This is why she didn't want Corvou going after Demetri. This is what she was afraid of.
She growled at the man, snapping at him with her teeth as he reached out to touch her. He withdrew his hand immediately with a yelp, to which she snickered darkly.
"You think you're so scary, don't you ya little pup?" he sneered, placing a hand on the pistol strapped to his waist. She laughed again, louder.
"What, are you gonna shoot me?" She laughed again, a slightly crazed look in her eyes as she leaned as far forward as she could, coming within a few inches of the man's face before adding on jovially: "Fucking. Do it. Spare me the trouble."
She watched as he narrowed his eyes slightly before backing off, opting to not oblige her thoughts- and vague hopes, before turning around a few moments later to speak to someone behind her.
"What's his ETA?"
"He'll be here any second now, sir."
He?
"Good. Everyone check your weapons!" He turned to Ishi. "Allow me to demonstrate why you do what the boss asks of you, when he asks it of you. Consider this your wake-up call, girl." He spat out the last word as everything clicked into place, and the door to the building began to raise.
Ishi's eyes widened in fear. She didn't know how much time had to have passed, but judging by the feeling in her right arm it had to have been a little while. A few days at least. Enough time that Corvou would've started looking, and she knew how the Highwaymen operated.
They'd have brought him straight to her, so she could watch them kill him before her eyes. To break her, to force her to submit. She opened her mouth to shout out, but at that precise moment one of the guards taped her mouth shut.
No... This... This can't be happening! she thought desperately as the door opened completely. Corvou please! Don't! Post by Corvou Dracul Ryusaki on Mar 23, 2017 4:02:06 GMT
Needless to say, the past few days, he was frantic. It was a hard thing to make him admit, but Tatsuhiko Corvou Dracul Ryusaki was frantic; possibly even beyond so. For the past few days, he had been more or less skeptical upon gradually noticing his surroundings- or rather, the lacking thereof in some instances and situations. Ever since their last encounter, Corvou had admittedly slumped into a mental trench; a fatigue; a seeming grave, by how it felt. After he had managed to cool down from his own outburst, though still pained deeply in the way he was forced to watch her fade and bolt away quite literally in the blink of an eye, he had chosen to stay on the rooftop that day, staring blankly and wistfully in the direction that he assumed he had taken off in. The only course aversion that he had made before the lunch period was over that day was to grab his bag and belongings, initially intending to brush matters off once more as best as he could and to continue his original plans of drowning himself - and, by then, possibly even his stress and sorrows - within the always accountable and dependable fallback known as music, all while preparing and practicing the dance routines he was intent on going over. Of course, given what had happened, it was safe to say that all he could do was think about what the two of them had said, rather than thinking about some dance that paled in comparison as far as the 'number one priority' went and meant to him at that time. He had decided to keep his distance for the most part after realizing and remembering that she, too, was likely in just as much pain as he was. His first plan was to just keep an eye on her from a distance in between breaks and passing periods among other, subtle times that he could have glanced at her from afar to ensure that she was at least managing, even if she busted a few noses and chests in in the process and suffered from a slightly more damaged arm due to it. The skepticism at the time was unstable and did drive him to hold a fair amount of concern due to the fact that she seemed to have vanished into thin air a small while after that decision, and he even went so far as to try and push it from his mind at the time, mentally and personally deeming that it was for the best to leave her as she was to cool off. She needed time to deflate. She needed time to think on her own. She was safe. ...And yet, he found himself here. No more than a half hour prior, a few messages had somehow found their ways to him. It was odd, really; a thing that he truthfully would have called off as a prank at first before sweeping it beneath the bed with all of his other problems and conflicts of pain and ignorance alike. Upon seeing and hearing the first and slightest mention of a particular howler, though? He found himself running after a short drive towards a seemingly foreign location. Rapid footsteps tapped swiftly through the area as he sprinted through the outermost portion of the location that was mentioned, a trail of a pulsing, ethereal hue of mist trailing behind him and outlining his own figure before fading into a void. His breaths were as rapid as his steps, exhibiting the sheer amount of desperation other things of the sort that had overwhelmed his mind. Test my patience... Test. My fucking. patience. He caught sight of a door after entering the area itself, and as he saw it beginning to open, he had simply sped the action by lifting one of his feet when he was within enough of a distance to do so, kicking it fiercely open by making a literal dent in it because of its build and structure, and as it had broken, he merely made do with stepping through it. Silver voids glared fiercely through the room at its inhabitants, locking solidly upon Ishini for a few seconds before slowly and malevolently beginning to scan over the other armed men with their eyes on him. His eyes flashed a clear, solid shade of jade as the aura trailing and enveloping him pulsed and gradually began to shift into the same color over time. He was wholeheartedly pissed.

[attr="class","howlingstorm"]Dead silence.
Then Ishi's world turned into a hail of bullets. Each one of the eight armed guards unloaded their rifles in Corvou's direction, spraying enough rounds that Ishi even felt her heart sink in her chest. She knew Corvou was strong, but for him to survive that? It would've had to be a miracle or an act of God, and she didn't exactly believe in either of those two things. The Negator stood in front of her, a little off to the side so she had a clear view of the scene from where she was hanging by her wrist. Her left arm was just killing her, and she was suddenly grateful that she could no longer feel pain in her right. She spared a glance upwards for a split second and just about groaned in frustration.
Of course.
An EM lock. The only way this damn thing was going to open was either by hitting a button on a remote or blasting it with an EMP, and Ishi was rather opposed to the second. She didn't like EMPs and they definitely did not like her. She caught sight of a grin on the man's face as the clicking sound of empty clips and the order to reload went out. They waited for the smoke to clear, and the man's grin vanished as quickly as it had come.
Standing there in full jade was Corvou Dracul Ryusaki. Ishini felt her heart leap in her chest. He was alive! She didn't know how injured he was- if at all- and though she found the change in color strange, she also felt as though it suited him. The brilliant jade somehow calling home to her and softening her expression slightly, and unknown to her, her eyes shifted that same jade for just a few moments before returning to their amber shade.
A thought flashed through her mind, and it felt like a memory of something said before.
Together. We live together, love together... and now we'll die together
She blinked, and the thought vanished, falling through the cracks in her mind like sand through an colander. Try as she might, she couldn't grab them back, though the easing pain in her chest comforted her and put her slightly to ease. Perhaps she'd thought of something that didn't cause her to want to tear her heart out for once. It was the first time that anyone had seen his abilities like this. Even himself. Although locked within too much of a frenzied state to have realized it right then and there, later on, he would have gradually and slowly realized that the only other time that his power had rivaled the amount that it was at that time was when he had lost his entire world the first time, and completely, fully realized it at the young age of thirteen. It would likely be the only time until a long while afterwards, too. Hopefully, at least. He would say that it was a symbolic experience as the scarf that he wore - tucked rather loosely beneath the collar of his clothing by then - had been one of the triggers of his past outburst, alongside the precious, jewel-clad ring secured upon his finger as it glowed and shone brightly within his jaded light. It enveloped him, and, within a temporary surge of intense spiritual energy, abruptly turned a darker hue of green before suddenly bursting outwards and filling the well entirety of the room with its color for a few moments. The sheer force of it managed to shy a good amount of the bullets away from him, though some of them still managed to break through and graze his skin here and there, while a few had lodged within his flesh and bones. Regardless, though, he was well beyond the point of feeling at that particular moment. All he could see was jade. All he could feel was pure, unbridled rage. And unfortunately for the rest of the others in the room, it was his turn. For a split second, the energy surging around him grew unstable as it constantly compressed and released in multiple pulses, vigorously and constantly fading between the brightest jade to the darkest hue that it had just assumed. From within the aura, Corvou himself would have, of course, stood- though not without a faint smirk of frightening menace as his manipulation powers overwhelmed him. A snicker stifling within the core of his throat, he hunched forward and gave the fingers of the eastern extremity a quick twitch before he immediately lunged forward when the clips had been emptied, shoving a loosely closed fist into the chest of one of the gunners before slamming the very same hand upwards and into his jaw with a fearsome amount of force. The strength of it all was likely more than enough to break both a few of his ribs and his jaw alike, but to add insult to injury, he wasted no time in grabbing him by the collar of his shirt after the punches had been thrown, whipping around and nonchalantly chucking him into one of his companions right behind him as he and the others were lost between a frantic search for another clip and seemingly frightened awe by then. Following those two, he made a rather swift, concise, and overall fear-inducing sweep of the room - picking the men off one by one - at an alarmingly hastened and smooth manner as the situation progressed on, and his emotional state only served to decrease, which, in turn, heightened his senses ever more. At two specific points in particular, two men had been aggressively and viciously flung at a wall and straight through it, leaving them to wallow upon the ground in pain as the menace inside continued his business. It took only a fair amount of time before the people that remained were none other than Ishini, her captive, and the jaded menace himself. Once he had vaguely noticed that and processed it through his admittedly clouded and hazed mind, Ryusaki turned his head in a gradual and overall discomforting manner, absentmindedly cracking his knuckles by his flanks as he turned to face him. The smile that he wore broadened a bit, and eyes consumed by that same jade narrowed, locking upon him as he tilted his head. The pause had begun to calm him down amidst his bloodlust, though by the way that his aura continued to flare around him, it was safe to say that he was still far from recovering into his normal state. As he gave the other man a somewhat amused and even gleeful glare, his voice maintained a rather sing-songy tune. "Haha... Is it your turn, now?" he asked curiously, rolling his neck a little bit. "Please tell me that it's your turn~."

[attr="class","howlingstorm"]Ishi could see from here that the man was trembling, no longer possessing any bit of his former bravado as he quickly looked from Ishi to Corvou and back again before making a very, very stupid mistake. Granted, either choice would've been stupid.
He shifted his power focus to Corvou. The man instantly lost his aura, and all the associated bits that he had gained from his powers, but in exchange he had given the Howling Storm the one thing she needed most.
Her lightning. It came back to her as a massive surge, the manacle binding her hands giving a happy beep before opening up and dropping her on the floor. The tattoo she bore on her right arm was pulsing the same jade that Corvou had been radiating moments earlier, and the wolf's eyes were white-hot with the same colors. The tattoo on her right arm was rarely seen, but seemed to be an exact, if slightly modified, replicate of the ones each of the guards and even the snivelling, frightened idiot between the two jade monsters bore. A single, massive eastern dragon, curled around the shoulder and snaking down the arm to rest its head upon the right hand. While Ishi's still bore the classic HWM symbol on her inside of her arm, her serpent had a medal atop its head, one that depicted a wolf's head, its eye bearing a scar in the shape of a lighting bolt as the serpent itself seemed to emit the same. Printed in large letters up her forearm were the words "The Howling Storm", signifying exactly how she got the nickname.
She didn't bother with the man just yet, instead opting to electrically root his feet to the floor before pulling his phone out from his back pocket towards her. She zapped it once to unlock it before dialing a number and placing it on speaker. She knew from experience that putting it to her ear should short-circuit it, and she didn't wish to do that yet.
The call picked up on the third ring, and a rather pleased-sounding male voice spoke through it.
"Jaaaack my boy, how are things going? The brat's been broken, I hope?" Ishini's face was impassive, though a somewhat demonic smirk played on her lips as she spoke.
"Demetri De la Vontram," she said, a sing-song quality to her tone as she spun around, leaving jade sparks in the air behind her when she moved. Her rage was palpable, and incredibly frightening due to her lack of physicality and screaming. Demetri's end of the line fell quiet for a few moments before he spoke again.
"Mazuka." He sounded tense, To what, may I ask, do I owe the pleasure?"
Ishini laughed, the sound dark and hollow. "I think you know exactly why I'm calling, Demetri~. You. Fucked. Up." She punctuated the last three words with the harsh tone her voice took. "So allow me to reclarify our arrangement." She kicked a stray pebble lightly, electricity impacting the pebble and causing it to launch forwards with such force that it made impact with one of the skulls of the guards that were now slumped over, punching straight through and causing the man's head to jerk back suddenly.
If he wasn't dead before, he definitely was now.
"If you decide to fuck with me, my family, or anyone close to me," she growled, I will personally put your head on a platter my own damn self."
Silence.
"I'll keep that in mind."
"Good, and one more thing," Ishi said lightly, grabbing the shaking Negator and slamming him against a wall of electricity that appeared suddenly behind him. Ishi walked up and stuck the phone magnetically to the man's shirt before speaking again, keeping the very tips of the fingers on her right hand pressed against the man's sternum as electricity built on her arm.
"Allow me to demonstrate to you and... 'Jack' here, what happens if you fuck up again."
She punched forwards, electricity bolting down her arm as she followed through with the technique known as the One-Inch Punch. A very short-range attack designed to output as much force in an area as possible. Unluckily for the Negator, Ishi had put all of her force into this one. And that is to mean all of it.
A thundercrack shook the building, and rang the ears of those nearby as the man's mouth opened in pained shock, though it only opened halfway. He was dead before he could open in completely, electricity sparking off his form for a few mometns as Ishi grabbed the phone off of his shirt.
"I hope I've made myself clear." She shut the phone and zapped it, the device sparking before smoking as she dropped it to the ground, electrically pulling the deceased Negator's pistol off of his belt before she systematically put a single round in the skulls of each of the rest of the guards, tossing the weapon aside immediately after before walking back to grab her metal gauntlet off of a table next to a fresh roll of bandages. She supposed they thought she'd injured her arm somehow and had prepped before finding out otherwise. Either way, white was white.
She stepped over corpses on her way out, and turned to Corvou with an inquisitive gaze, her eyes only now fading back to amber from once being entirely consumed in jade.
"You coming, 'Hero'?"
The name had a mocking air to it, but it was friendly enough nonetheless. The sky was clear thankfully, though she knew that they'd have to get moving soon before any sort of law enforcement arrived. Ishi hated dealing with the cops almost as much as she hated dealing with Demetri and the other members of the Highwaymen. Too much testosterone.

Seeing the look of pure horror and terror upon the Negator's face drove the smirk secured upon the menace's face to forge itself into a broader, brighter grin of sickening, challenging, and fearful amusement all the same and all the while. Twitching his fingers absentmindedly by his flanks, he began to hunch forward as if a predatory beast, keeping an achingly savage eye upon him as he began creeping forward; aura flares continuously bursting out from behind him as he began his small, inching venture towards him. At the last second, he brought himself low to the floor in a sort of hunter's crouch while the other man across from him began shifting his attention warily between him and his companion, and was just about to lunge forward like the beast that he almost practically was at the time. In the nick of time, however, 'Jack' had decided to place his focus upon Corvou himself, extinguishing all of the chi influenced rage that he housed all at once, and, likewise, extinguishing the spiritual energy that surged around his figure as a result, as well. Upon feeling the power fade from his being all at once, his eyes gave a faint flash before reverting back to their silver glows, temporarily holding a continuous and equally intense and enraged glare within them for the first few moments following his power oriented disarming. However, he quickly seemed to grasp the situation around him now that the source of his borderline berserker's nature had been forcibly turned off. Although still incredibly tensed and affected by both the events that had happened mere seconds prior, as well as earlier when he had initially received the messages, he stood - or rather crouched, by then - in the bestial hunting stance that he had seemingly and absentmindedly assumed, peering up at Jack with a minor degree of confusion, as well as a gradually faltering sense of livid feelings altogether. His gaze quickly shifted over towards Ishini as she was freed all at once due to the Negator's power focus being shifted from her to him, and he watched as the electricity burst through the room all at once as the remaining guard was bound in his place. A calming, silver-eyed gaze would prove to be temporarily entranced and possibly even mesmerized by the sight of the very same hue of jade that he himself had exhibited a few minutes beforehand- but that was a fact that he wouldn't quite know at the time, and would only fully realize and remember if the tale of that day had ever been regaled and discussed in remembrance. The phone call began, and his gaze trailed towards it. Upon hearing the man on the line, his internal being instinctively tensed within a degree of disgust and malice, knowing that he was more than likely the cause of what had occurred today. Regardless of these spontaneous, newfound feelings of his at the time, however, he simply kept silent and glanced over at Ishi again, as well as the jaded sparks that occasionally flickered from her form and, unbeknownst to him, inducing a sense of calmness and serenity within him at the subtle, yet radiant glow of the sparks. Every so often, his hand and fingers still twitched as an extended after effect of his power's influence, but the more he took care to allow his focus to linger upon her, the more his subconscious faltered within a growing calmness, and for what was admittedly the first time in a little bit over a month, he felt at peace. The distance within his demeanor returned another time, though not in the same manner that he had decided to visit in on the day they had met on the rooftop. Stressed it may have admittedly been, as the thoughts and revelations began to carve themselves within his intellect, though the stress now was mixed with relief and even happiness among other things, rather than how the specified stress he felt back then was of borderline bitterness and sorrow. He watched dormantly and almost patiently as she spoke her way through the line, and even watched with a simple nonchalance as she gave her threats and, ultimately in the end, planted a cap in each of the men before she began to walk his way towards the exit. In any other mindset - in other words, his normal one - he would have given her a smirk and returned the remark with something equally as snarky and teasing. This time around, he merely blinked before nodding soundlessly, following behind her for a few moments. Before long, vague rays of sunlight shone upon them both as they exited into the world beyond once more. Corvou had followed Ishini in silence up until then, bringing his attention upon the skies above for a brief period of time as he skimmed the clouds. Blue. Just like that other day. His mind wandered back to his outburst again, and in an unseen reaction to it, he felt a sudden, piercing feeling within his chest. It was faint, though if he had to describe it, it felt as if a javelin had pierced straight through him. Pain aside, however - or possibly even amplified by then - he gave another blink as he distantly tilted his head back to gaze upon normal levels, staring straight in front of him for a few moments before looking over at Ishini from the corner of his eye. All at once, internal pulse of pain and shock alike triggered once more within his chest, and he clenched both his hands and his teeth gently and on instinct as he took a deep breath. From rage to distance came the final, swift stages as he took a couple of quick steps from behind her trail, taking a hold of her shoulders - albeit gently and with an utmost care for sake of her wounds - and turning her around. His hands and arms wrapped securely around her as he gave a soft, uncharacteristically shaky breath. His head tilted downwards and he pressed his face softly into her hair. To add to the uncharacteristic actions, if she listened enough, she may have heard another faint and shaky breath; a sign of tears, however vague or apparent they may have been. Whether she heard it or not, however, would have only served to add nothing or a small bout of evidence to his temporary vulnerability at that moment, as the tears were more or less already hinted at towards through the way his embrace was soft yet possessive at the same time as he held her. His voice was, again, uncharacteristically soft-spoken and almost broken by then as he buried his face deeper into her hair. "...I'm-... I'm so glad you're okay..." he murmured quietly. "I-I don't care how you're gonna react... I-I don't care if you punch me through a wall next. I-I'm just-..."He took a pause to take a breath, not caring about how shaky or emotionally influenced it was by then. "...I-I'm so glad you're safe. I-I'm glad that you're alive..."

[attr="class","howlingstorm"]Ishi fell silent as they walked, and remained that way when Corvou embraced her. Slowly she allowed herself to hug him back, picking up on his shaky breathing instantly as he inhaled. This is what she didn't want. This is what she'd wanted to prevent. This is why she'd left. Lot of good that'd done her by the looks of it. She didn't say anything. She didn't need to. However, part of her dearly wanted to, and so she spoke quietly, her voice barely above a whisper as she allowed Corvou to rest against her.
"I told you that you knew my reasons," she said, "You just didn't realize it yet..." That wouldn't excuse her actions, but she felt as though it had to be said. Had to be put out into the air as the pair were recovering. She'd just ensured the deaths of nine people, and perhaps a few more knowing Demetri. She had yet to feel anything, and she hated it. She wanted to cry, wanted to break down like any other person but she couldn't. The tears wouldn't come, no matter how much she thought about those men. She closed her eyes instead, silently cursing herself for all those times when she was younger. She was no stranger to killing, to murder. She'd grown up in the Windy City after all, and it wasn't just dirt and leaves that drifted along those winds. Ashes and souls drifted along them to, and for a moment she could almost imagine that the souls of those nine were drifting along with the gust of wind that kicked up right then. Almost.
She started humming then, a tune she'd heard several times over the last few years. A song that held more meaning now than it had when she'd first heard it. Her chest tightened as she remembered that she'd probably never have the chance to be this close to Corvou again. To allow herself to be so close to him, and as they stood she was painfully reminded of that. The jade that had enveloped her form was gone, but in its place she felt strangely different. As though she'd woken up. To what, she didn't know. Part of her didn't want to know. "How could I have known that you were a dot on a fucking radar...?" he responded with his own question almost at once, his tone a bit louder, though faintly and barely so. His embrace tightened a little bit more as another, choked breath stifled within his throat due to his own pride, and he took a few moments before finally and reluctantly looking down at her. While his current demeanor was far from being overwhelmed by bawling, his stress and concern all the same was clear and apparent through silver voids clouded by a faint tinge of red bloodshot. "I-I know you have your share of trouble, b-but this...? Ishi, how was I supposed to guess about this, of all things...?" He shifted his arms slightly, though ot was then that the majority of his powers seemed to be taking a heavier toll on him as he finally seemed to remember and notice the bullet wounds that scathed his being. He couldn't help but wince a bit while his arm moved, and he glanced down at his shoulder for a split second, a momentarily annoyed frown playing at his lips as he noticed the blood soaked bullet hole residing within his shirt, as well as the flesh beneath. He stared at it for a small while befote taking a deep breath, shaking his head as his hands instinctively up and upon her shoulders, giving them each a gingerly grasp. "I don't care what your motives are. I don't care if you hate me, if you're trying to protect me, or even if you wanna push me away for the sake of pushing me away." His eyes narrowed within the very stress that continued to linger within his mind as they reflected a small degree of concern amd desperation alike. "But if you think that I'd be better off alone and oblivious to the dangerous shit you've gotten yourself into, you're dead fucking wrong." His hands loosened before eventually and reluctantly sliding off of her shoulders, falling to his flanks in an almost defeated manner as he still stared at her. "...You've made it clear right now that you'd die for me, and I want you know that I'd die for you, too. It works both ways. If I died, you'd be torn, and if you died, I'd be torn, but to the point where it would be overwhelming. ...For fuck's sake... I've already lost my family and my entire world once. I don't wanna stand by and watch or suddenly hear it happen again when I could've done something." Ishini Mazuka

[attr="class","howlingstorm"]She remained silent. Her bangs obscuring the emotions swirling around in her eyes as she stood there. She didn't know what to say, what she could say. He was right, about all of it. She knew it would kill him to have to watch her and know she wasn't his, but at the same time it killed her so much more. The pain was only compounded with his words, telling her just how stupid she'd been for leaving. How stupid she'd been for hoping he wouldn't chase after her. And she agreed whole-heartedly.
But what was done was done. She wanted him safe. Alive. And judging by the wounds he currently suffered there wasn't a very high chance of him staying that way if he got into a head-long fight against the Highwaymen. She vaguely hoped that Demetri would stop going after her, stop trying to bring her back in. But part of her also knew better. She used to be his right hand, so she knew how De la Vontram thought. He would hold off for just a little bit of time, wait until she was comfortable with her life.
And then he'd come crashing through to uproot it all. It frustrated her more than she cared to admit, but she wasn't about to take on that particular army without any reason to.
"I wanted to keep you safe," she whispered meekly. It was the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. She choked back tears, swallowed her emotions and the outcries of her heart once more as it threatened to start tearing her apart. She wasn't going to break down because of him. She'd been so worried, so scared that she'd be forced to watch him die.
The thought brought tears to her eyes, and she was grateful that he couldn't see her face clearly enough to make them out. "And I wanna keep you safe," he said back within a rather matter of factly manner, his tone soft and stressed, yet understanding all the same regardless. From beneath the shade of his own hair - which was down once more, casting a faint shadow over silver voids of his while still allowing their brief and vague glow of silent pain within them able to be viewed - he gave his full, undivided attention to her as those same, aforementioned orbs of silver remained upon her being. While her head was tilted downwards to hide her expression from view, that very position, coupled with the quietness of her voice, only confirmed him of the only possible reason as to why she had taken care to glance away. His hands instinctively clenched a tad more before relaxing as swiftly as they had done so, and he couldn't help but let his guard down enough to allow another pulse within his chest as he went on, saying, "I don't think you understand, Ishi... I'd die for you. Gladly die. Willingly die. If it meant that you'd live another day, or even that your stress and problems could be split to let you calm down, I'd sacrifice part or even the entirety of my well being for you in a damn heartbeat. ...You know that."With a certain degree of hesitance, he lifted the eastern extremity, hovering it in the air before her for a few moments before finally gathering his thoughts and decisions, going on to gently place it against her down turned head and cheek in a precisely gingerly fashion. Once within the palm of his hand, he didn't take any movements or attempts to try and tilt her head up to meet his gaze. Instead, he merely moved his thumb, stroking it softly against her cheek within a soft caress, and possibly even feeling the very beginnings of her tears themselves to make up for legitimately seeing them. He remained this way for a few moments before closing his eyes and shaking his head, clenching his teeth once more. "...I told you. If you run away from me, then I'll feel hurt. I'll feel betrayed, and I'll feel bitter...but in the end, I'll be waiting for you come back to me because of a specific, three-word reason that you know damn well by now."With those words, he stepped forward again, pulling her into another embrace while finally giving her chin a soft nudge upwards as if encouraging her to look at him. "So please...don't run away from me again." Soft was his voice yet again, alongside subtly pained, yet borderline hopeful as he managed to give her a faint grin from amidst his own tears. "I don't want to feel hurt or bitter towards you of all people again, so please... Don't run away."

[attr="class","howlingstorm"]Ishi remained silent for a while after that, the pair of them going back to walking after she gave a tentative nod. She didn't know where she was going or why, but eventually she found herself standing in front of a very, very familiar cafe.
The Jaded Star... she thought plainly, memories of her first few weeks at Aurora springing to life before her eyes. This is where she and Corvou had met, over a spilt coffee and a girl fresh off of the streets. She remembered it as vividly as the day it'd happened. She'd been sitting up at the bar when Mr. Suave had decided to sit his ass down next to her, and managed to bump her elbow by pure chance. As a result she spilled coffee on herself, and well...
The turned her head to the left, gazing into the cafe. She could still see the telltale cracks in the wall from when she'd turned around and full-force decked Corvou across the cafe. She'd spent two years after that helping around, though she still didn't care for the outfits that the waitresses had to wear. She had nothing against dresses... well, actually she did. They were obnoxious and depending on the style could be impractical or just plain hard to move in. She preferred clothes of a far more dexterous kind. So long as her joints could move freely she was fine.
Which is why she almost wore a pair of shorts and a nice shirt to the Spring formal last year. She had thought it a perfectly fine idea but Corvou had other plans apparently, and she'd ended up settling for a cocktail dress. She supposed it could've been worse. Could've been that she didn't look good in green, like a number of people. For some reason though she did, something about how it caught the underlying tones in her eyes or some shit like that.
She was getting horribly sidetracked and she knew it, too lost in her own nostalgia to realize that she'd ended up walking into the cafe and sitting down in her usual spot. The waitress behind the bar- Clara, if Ishi remembered correctly- gave her a quizzical look before leaning onto her elbows in front of the Storm, the girl's jasper-hued gaze flickering over to Corvou momentarily before she spoke.
"And here I thought I'd never see you again," Clara stated with a slight smile, her dark hair framing her face. Ishi lifted her gaze to stare at her, and Clara playfully moved back as though she'd been shot. "If looks could kill," she laughed, taking a moment to compose herself for a moment before looking at the pair of them. "So are ya'll just wanderin' by or should I get Cert in here to getcha somethin' to occupy yourselves with? Besides one another, obviously."
That's right, Ishi recalled, She doesn't know about what happened between Corvou and I. She'd never gotten around to telling her, though to be fair she also hadn't been by the Star since then. Perhaps that said something about how she was changing. Truth be told, it did pain him a slight bit to have been met with little more than a nod and silence in response to his request; his plead. Underlying would be a sense of hope, though it was safe to assume that it was reverted and taken back as he watched Ishini begin to walk once more. For a split second, a dualed, silver shine would have trailed after her before he gave a soft, inaudible sigh, giving the ground beneath him a swift glance before merely following after her. Afterwards, he fell into a minor, thoughtful trance once more; silent all the while, but only up until he fully realized the area around him. He was quick to realize it in all honesty, which internally pained him even more all the same as he gazed up at the iconic restaurant label outside, as well as the cracks upon the walls within through the window; a memento of the days past, per say. His eyes narrowed faintly and he grit his teeth upon reestablishing the memories, though he gathered whatever mental fortification he could to continue following after her. When he entered, he truthfully felt a little bit distant. Possibly bittersweet and somewhat regretful- though those would be things completely incomprehensible to the common and dwindling eye. Only when Clara walked around was when he snapped from his mind, placing his gaze momentarily upon her and with his unknowingly stoic expression up until then. Blinking, he stared at her silently, comprehending her words and allowing them to sink in. After a few moments, a sudden, perfectly fake smile spread across his lips as he shrugged, betraying the lingering sting within his eyes, alongside the bags beneath them. If he was questioned about it, he'd just brush it off as sleep deprivation. It was a legitimate excuse anyways, and he was more or less known for it because of a few rants here and there about insomnia. Although, he had a lot of sleep issues lately- most of which not being related to the condition that time around, though to other matters that could have been more or less easily assumed by then. "It's...a thing of the past," he responded casually, folding his arms. He spared a glance at the wall once more before chuckling, bringing his gaze back to the waitress. "Not that big of a deal in the long run I guess, though. ...If you could get us some other company and a couple of menus, though...that would be great, too~."Internally, he took a pause, twitching his finger from within the crook of the arm it was tucked beneath. Fuck... That last part probably sounded a bit bad...Despite that, all throughout his words, he continued to wear a grin; the truth beneath it only known to him and a certain other. It was as if earlier hadn't even happened for the rest. Corvou sighed inwardly and barely at the end of his remark. Maybe for the best... Maybe...Ishini Mazuka

[attr="class","howlingstorm"]Ishi very strongly resisted the urge to leap over and repeat the actions of the past, her metaphorical hackles raising as her skin bristled slightly in anger. A stray spark popped off of one of her hands, but she was able to hide it with the cross-armed stance she assumed a moment before. She kept her features neutral, despite the growing agitation within her. Clara looked from Corvou to Ishi and back again for a moment before nodding slowly and walking away. Normally she just shouted for Cert, but today she'd chosen a quieter routine.
It took almost unfamiliarly long for Cert to appear- a sign that she and Clara had been discussing something- but when she did the owner of the Star made no hint as to what it might possibly have been. The tag on her chest read simply as 'Certus', which did little to otherwise differentiate her from just a normal employee. Certus regarded Ishi first, a pair of azure-green eyes fixing on the Storm for a moment in an almost worrying tone before the Lancer set to work on the fourth year's regular drink. She turned to Corvou as she started, and spoke to the Azure Drake in a pleasant tone that didn't seem to match the mood in the room much at all.
"And what'll you be having today, Corvou?" the look in Certus' eyes was questioning, wonderinf what the hell had devolved to the two to this point in time. Knowing her as well as they did, it'd be safe for Ishi and Corvou both to assume that Certus wasn't exactly going to stop asking questions about it, and neither was she going to let them stay several chairs apart for very long either. Needless to say, the silence enveloping the air within their section of the cafe - or at least around Ryusaki himself, for the most part - would have made a gradual and barely noticeable shift from casual to faintly tense the more time went on. Although he merely coped with what he had said and the small traces of a reaction that he had managed to catch on his companion's part - as it would have been an odd thing not to notice by then, given the amount of time they had spent together in the past, as well as the amount of detail he took care to give towards her each and every action, too - with little more than an absentminded glance down at the counter beneath him, he began beating himself up and over a tad, and this could have been more or less readable through the small glint of regret that flashed within those shining eyes of his. Clara had departed to fetch Cert, though because of the soundless nature that progressed on between the two that had remained, he subtly yet admittedly somewhat awkwardly fished a hand into his pocket, taking hold of his phone and sliding it out. He quickly unlocked the screen and began peering through a few things that he had saved, all while slipping the remaining extremity beneath the shade of his sleeves to fiddle around with a few of the bullets and begin to extract them. the occasional wince was made in response to his fingers grazing sensitive flesh, though he kept himself under control from the most part as he picked a couple of bullets out and simply made do with leaving them within his sleeves for the moment. Soon afterwards, the sound of footsteps caught his ears, and he glanced up to the sight of their older-known acquaintance walking over towards him. All at once, he caught wind of the look within her gaze, though merely dismissed it to keep up his facade. He watched her as she shifted her attention between Ishini and himself, waiting patiently for her to say something. When she did, he gave her a small, polite smile. He shrugged again. "Eeeeh...dunno, to be honest," he started off casually, raising an eyebrow. "As far as drinks go, probably a cappuccino for sure, but for the actual food-"His gaze snapped down on instinct and he cut himself off as he heard his phone's ringtone trigger. His eyes glanced over the number, and, although they hadn't recognized the number, he stared at it quizzically before blinking and slowly picking it up, giving Certus an apologetic look. "Aha... Sorry. Make it a surprise," he said, picking his phone up and hovering his thumb over the pickup symbol on the screen. He winked with amusement. "I wanna see if you still remember my tastes."Nodding after that, he looked back at his phone, letting it ring for a few more curious and questioning tones before picking up. "Hello?""Konnichiwa, Tatsuhiko-kun~!"The voice was oddly loud; enough to the point where Corvou winced and actually drew his phone back a little bit, and possibly even one that allowed the others with him to hear as well. He gave a confused look before slowly pressing the device to his ear again. "Uh... I'm...sorry?" he went on. "...Do I know you? And...how do you know that name?"The voice on the other side of the line gave a soft laugh, though this time around, her voice was toned down enough so that he was the only one to possibly be able to hear it. "Eeeeh...? How do I know-... Aaaah, wow, it's really been a while, then, huh?""...Ex-... Excuse me...?A sigh sounded. "Pfft... I should've called you sooner. It's been years... I didn't know you'd forget about me that much~."The same expression that had overridden the man's face lingered for a little bit more as he attempted to comprehend the statements posed to her. ...Forgot about her...? Who have I even known that-...A sudden click processed within the back of his mind, and his eyes widened in shock and disbelief. To accompany it, a sudden, broad smile to match the feeling surfaced, as well. "Eeeeeh...? Kiyomi?! Anata wa Kiyomi desu ka?"He was met with another laugh in affirmation. "Hai-hai~! Matta atta ne, Tatsu-kun."It was Corvou's turn to laugh in mild disbelief as he brushed the same hand that had been picking through bullets through his hair, and he found himself slowly sliding from his tool temporarily. Shooting Certus another apologetic look, he bowed slightly out of instinct. "S-Sorry. I gotta take this one," he spoke quickly, shuffling back towards the entrance mid-sentence. "Again, just make it a surprise. I'll be back in a sec."With those words, he turned around and walked out of the front door, speaking in foreign tongues all the while.

[attr="class","howlingstorm"] Certus gave a slight nod to Corvou as he stated his apology and left the room, focusing her attention on the Storm a moment later to catch sight of Ishi beginning to spark like a firework. A blink later, and a brief period of silence saw the waitress letting out a sigh before placing Ishi's usual on the counter in front of her: Dark Chocolate Mocha, extra caffeine with a myriad of other assorted additives to give it a bit of an electrifying aftertaste. Ishi grasped the cup slowly, lifting it to her lips as the familiar scent registered in her mind. She paused for a moment, the memories of the dozens upon dozens of times she'd had this in Corvou's company coming to mind. Certus had always known how to calm her down, sometimes even better than Corvou. Ishi took a sip before lifting her gaze from the glass to the cafe owner in front of her. "You're looking at me like I have a third eye."
"That's definitely one way to put it," Certus stated in a slightly hushed tone, glancing over to the entrance to see Corvou outside talking vehemently to whoever it was that had called him. She looked back at Ishi. "What the hell happened between you two? Did he cheat on you or something?"
"Wh-What? No, of course not! Corvou's a fucking idiot but he knows I would've fried him," Ishi stated instantly, and possibly a little defensively. She took a breath and let it out as a sigh as her gaze fell back down to her mocha. "Things just... got complicated."
Certus' eyes widened as the realization registered. "Something to do with your past... right?"
Ishini nodded. Certus didn't know what Ishi had done before she'd come here, and only because the woman had explicitly stated that she didn't desire to know. Certus merely desired to be on a need-to-know when it came to the pasts of her friends and customers. If it wasn't a life-or-death situation she thought it better she not know, and kept her own secrets as a result. Ishi herself had only the foggiest assumption of what Certus herself might've done before she opened the Star.
Cert sighed in response to Ishi's affirmative. "You know, I've never met anyone who gets as paranoid about their past as you, Ish."
"What do you mean?"
Certus paused for a moment, finding the words she wanted to use before she spoke, "You've always been like this, checking the shadows, looking over your shoulder. It's like you're afraid someone is going to jump out from nowhere and destroy your entire life."
Ishi sat there stunned. Certus' words had hit home a little harder than the Storm had anticipated.
"I say who gives a fuck? Live how you want, stop caring what may happen. Cor's a grown man, he can take care of himself. Honestly Ish, you're not doing him any favors trying to keep him out of... whatever the hell it is."
Certus was perceptive, Ishi had always had to give her that. The Storm nodded once more in recognition, calmly sipping her drink as she thought. Certus proceeded to busy herself with cleaning the counters and even placed a slice of cheesecake in front of Ishi for the girl to eat while they waited for Cor to come back in.
