精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES say something nice | From right to left, grandmother often stressed the importance of maintaining each symbol between each circular ring. Each level supposed to be like a coded pattern, a program of sorts that a coder needs to make a program function to what she/he wants. The same can be said for seals. It was that lesson that Katya’s grandmother tried to get her to understand. If she wanted to play with it, she needed intimate knowledge in their functions. As a child she often thought of these symbols as nothing more than just that, interesting patterns to sketch on her notepad.
Not though…she fully regretted blocking out the rest of her dear grandmother’s lectures. She couldn’t exactly go back to ask the dear old lady, she was after all six thousand miles away. Taking a plane trip just to ask a question didn’t seem all but pleasurable to the young child. What’s more, she’s merely working on a seal to function as a stasis seal.
A seal to keep perishables in one piece for a long time. But a code was starting to be finicky, a kanji that was supposed to go to the inner circle was butchering another seal on the outer one. It was…all but frustrating to the young girl. Her lips pursed, gritting back her irritation as she tossed her pen on the table. A huff slipped past her lips, with a defeated grumble she all but flopped on her back right on the couch she was currently resting on. Pen laid on the table, landing right beside the paper where her experimental seal was on.
A few of her earlier patterns lay hazardly tossed at the nearby trash can now nearly full of paper from her trying to figure out where she went wrong. Seals was just like coding indeed… The same headache inducing nightmare she’d rather avoid in dealing but… her hand unconsciously traced her wrist right where a tiny glyph signifying ‘lock’ marred her skin. She’s been figuring out how it got there ever since she finally took notice of it a few months ago. Lock…she knew it meant it was locking something away. She just couldn’t figure out what it was, she never bothered asking her grandmother. Pride mostly, pride was the biggest reason why she hadn’t bother asking the adults around here about it. She never bother telling anyone of her abilities. Preferring to pretend to be a regular human powerless human.
Just like she was pretending to be another gender. She thought sarcastically. Grandmother often tried to remind her to seek those who are more adept than she was in the art. She wanted to say she can learn on her own but at this point… She wasn’t sure if her seal was gonna end up causing another explosion…or worse. Sighing in defeat she finally tried recalling the name one of the teachers gave her when she mentioned about seals. On those rare occasions in which she’d try to milk information out of the adults to help clue her in her ability. A novice sealist wasn’t even supposed to be doing these things without supervision. She long thought she was passed that. But it seems she was wrong. A year or so without practice really dulled some of what she remembered.
So she’s stuck, and now…she forced to move her arse off the comfy couch her bottom found comfort in. Fingering with the hem of her long sleeve sweater the girl gathered her belongings. A few rogue strands from her short blonde hair dabbled down her forehead, tricking her eye until she blinked back a few irritated tears. Thin fingers brushed them back, her hair was getting longer. She mused. In a few days she might need to cut it again. Another look back at the couch seemingly begging her to return to it until she forced herself to move back to the boy’s dorms. She tried remembering the name. Luke? Blake? Luka? Whichever of the three she wasn’t sure. The answer came to her by chance when her eye caught the unmistakable symbol drawn upon a wooden door. She blinked, raising an eye up to the ceiling before the child shook her head. She never claimed she was religious but for mercy's sake she did utter a quick prayer of thanks to kami-sama for his guidance. Last thing she needed was for him to use it as an excuse to turn her day upside down. Inhaling deeply she made her way over, first allowing her curiosity a chance to trace the well drawn pattern before she rapped her knuckle gently on the wooden surface. Then she stood back, waiting for the owner to open the door.

When you're screaming out But you can't make a sound You know It's only a dream
Cause nothing is as bad as you think Even when you're pulling at the seams When the lights go out you still got me
This day had been like most others. The feline male was sitting in his dorm room, working on a multitude of things. More seals were always good. Plus he needed to finish the rest of the updated blueprints to give to Michael when he had the chance. But still, at the moment he was struggling with a binding seal. It was extremely complicated, and it was actually starting to frustrate him. It was around the time he was bashing his head on the desk that he thought he heard a knock. He stopped and sat up, his ears swiveling back towards the door. Had he imagined it? But no. He could feel the seal on the door reading the person that had touched it. After a moment longer he stood and made his way towards the door, resting his hand on the back of it for a moment, allowing the whole thing to be shown on the other side before he pulled the door open. "Interesting. Come in." He moved aside and motioned for her to enter the room. Of course, upon entering she would be able to see just how complicated his seals really were, each giving off a soft dull glow. Protection seals, nullifying seals, many different kinds of seals to help him keep his privacy and keep him safe. Of course, he wouldn't have needed so much security if he hadn't woken up the damn demon. "Do you want anything to drink?" Of course he chose to be hospitable before even asking her why she was there. He moved over to the small mini fridge and opened it, grabbing himself a bottle of tea. "I have tea, water, soda, and juice." Of course he would grab her whatever she wanted, or nothing if that was what she preferred. He moved back and motioned for her to have a seat at his desk chair, while he moved some things out of the way. The binding seal he had been working on was strewn about over eight or so pages and was a complete mess, but still, he neatly stacked the papers and set them aside before moving to sit on the desk, folding one leg beneath him and letting the other hang off the side. "So, I take it you're here to ask me some questions or something. What can I help you with?" [googlefont=Philosopher][googlefont=Pattaya][googlefont=Lobster Two]

精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES say something nice | Seals danced before her eyes, nearly making the girl pull her hand back when they all but moved before her hands. Each one glowed with a certain color on them. How she wished she could remember her grandmother’s lectures about them. But at the time she blamed her age, her childish mind completely disregarded them. In her defence at the time she merely cared for was drawing their shapes. Their real meaning never held true to her curiosity until now. Now that she could see what her grandmother tried to explain to her.
The gift of seals are rare within their family. Generations could be skipped before one shows up, well in her grandmother’s side. To think she’ll get it never touched her mind. But it did, and now she was stuck with it. Standing back, her gaze flickered over to the door as a lone creak echoed from the hinges as a boy stood behind it. The first thing she noted were the cat ears twitching on his head…
Cat… ears… the words repeated itself in her head. Over and over until it made her mind believe what she was seeing was indeed true… “Neko….?” Whispered the child, caught completely off guard before schooling her face back into its neutral expression. “Gomen… sorry to be a bother but I can ask a bit of assistance in regards to seals?...” She softly asked, waiting until the boy allowed her in. She politely nodded her thanks as she quietly walked inside. The room was just like any within the campus, though the scattered papers strewn about on the desk and the familiar hint of ink drying on each scattered paper gave her the hint that this was his room.
All the more awkward she felt as she fiddled the few papers in her hand. She barely walked into people’s room. Being a person who was comfortable being alone she mostly retreated to her own room. But walking into one…well the inner girl in her wanted to run away. But she squished down the urge.
Grandmother often reminded her not to meddle with seals she knew nothing about and judging from…how advance the boy dealt with his seals…she figured it was safe to handle them here. Before something else explodes…. Or like last time, burn itself to smitherins… “Thank you for the offer….but I don’t want to intrude more than I already did…” Politely declining his offer for drinks. Still barely raising her voice laced heavily with her Japanese accent. She hesitated before finally pulling out the papers from her notebook. “I was wondering…if I could ask some advice in how to make these two seals coexist…”

Luka just nodded and held his hand out to take the papers from her and examine them. Simple in design, and yet, complex in nature. It was truly odd, but still, he would figure it out. The girl used a different set of symbols than he did, but he could probably still manage. The feline male put the papers down on the desk before hopping up and going over towards his bookshelf, putting a hand on his hip as he scanned through the various books that he had. After a few moment he made a small "hmm... aah!" sort of noise and pulled a book from it's place, bringing it over to the girl at his desk. Though, he had to wonder why exactly a girl was in this section of the dorm. Then again, by her appearance, she could be easily mistaken for a boy. Besides, if she was here looking for his help, that was a good enough reason why for him to put it out of his head. "Here. This one should help. It has some very basic combining tactics. As for these two seals in particular..." He paused after stting the book in front of her and went about actually forming the seals on his desk, just tracing his finger along it until the lines started to appear. After all, the easiest way to fix the problem was to view it right? Once the first seal was completed, he paused and pointed to a few broken, dim areas in the lit up pattern. "These two need to be switched." Which he went about doing. "As for the second..." It didn't take him long to make that one either, showing her where the trouble spots were and how to fix them. But then he stopped, pondering for a bit how to go about combining them. "Perhaps the use of a third. But which... You'd have to find something compatible enough for the both of them." And back to the bookshelf he went, picking out books and flipping through them before finally settling on one and bringing it over. "Here. This one should do the trick." 精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES say something nice | And she gave them, shyly at first. Still hesitating to let someone view her unfinished work. She had to remind herself this wasn’t like any of her musical compositions in which she can do on her own. This was… something else entirely. A foreign playing ground she had no idea how to use the toys in. This was still new to her, despite her having already at least a year or so under her belt she hadnt spend the amount of time she would have like buried on numerous tomes like this boy did. Speaking of which…
Her gaze lazily trailed after his form as she walked over to the bookshelf. Her blue gaze traced over the old looking tomes neatly stack within the wooden storage. From the looks of it, all of was organized. Tempting really. To go and let her curiosity read a few of those books. But the notion of being in a stranger’s room held her back. A proverbial arm reigned in her whining curiosity, begging to at least have something to sate it but the child refused to indulged it any further. Than allowing herself to already swallow her pride in asking for his help in the first place. Katya’s attention drifted back to him once he returned, this time grasping a book within his thin fingers. Now that the girl noticed it… The cat eared guy was…a tad bit shorter than her. A kouhai perhaps? He looked young enough to be a first year but his experience… it was what made her doubt about his age. “Uhm…if you don’t mind me…asking but are those ears real?...”
She made no move to ask him though, figuring he wouldn’t be too thrilled to be reminded of it. She was actually taller than someone… A part of her was actually gleeful at the notion but she wisely kept it out of her face. Choosing instead to listen as Luka, explained to her where she went wrong. “So…add a buffer for the time set then switch the last two from the outer group… Life tends to be tricky with its pairings…” She mumbled.
Seals were just like codes indeed… They give her the same amount of headaches. Quietly moved closer to the table where he worked. A quick glance at the open book almost gave her the urge to bash her head on the closest wall. English… dear lord.. now she needed a dictionary. While she internally wailed at her luck she still kept part of her attention towards the boy as she explained. She watched as the seals glowed with his touch. “Gomen… I’m still a bit new to this….” She sheepishly admitted. Trying to bite down the blush from forming on her cheeks. “Though what would happen if…” The child’s small hand hidden within her long sleeved cardigan moved to touch one of the lines before she flinched away as she accidentally shifted the power flowing from the second rune within the first ring.

"Hmm?" His ears? Were they...? "Well, I mean as real as any other part of me I guess. I can make them go away if I want to, but.. I dunno." He shrugged. He never had a real reason for having them out other than he liked them. "I watch too much anime in my free time so.." Besides that, if he included the ears he was a whole few inches taller. But he shrugged and watched her as she went to alter the seals. He just sort of let her, chuckling a bit as she made a mistake. "Oh. Sorry. I should probably..." He took out a few symbols that he had added and motioned to it again. "There. That should be better. I... Seemed to have not really noticed how much..." But he shook his head and smiled a bit. "Apparently I'm stronger than I thought." [googlefont=Philosopher][googlefont=Pattaya][googlefont=Lobster Two]

精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES say something nice | So they were real, somehow she shouldn’t be surprised anymore with the blatant disregard for the laws of physics being regular practiced around this school. But still Kat actually allowed a rare moment of shock to filter through her mask followed by….
A small giggle struggling to break free from her lips until she reigned it back with an embarrassed look breaking into her mask. “It looks unique… I’ve never seen a person with cat ears before….aside from those headbands.” The girl spoke in a soft tone. The one thing she refused to break was her politeness. Her family basically pounded it on their heads, both her and her sister had to learn basic etiquette.
Her eyes slightly lit up in curiosity when he mentioned he watched anime. “…I prefer gaming…” She didn’t know why she bothered telling him that but it did help trying to lessen the embarrassment she felt after messing up a seal. She wasn’t as adept as he was. The glaring reminder of their skill difference was towards his work scattered on the floor. “…Naruto has…some good seal ideas.” She mumbled quietly. A tiny twitch form on her lips as she watched him fix her seal. “It’s no trouble…Though you are kinda more advance than iam in the craft…so it’s obvious you’ll be stronger.”

"Ahh, thanks. I guess I like being different from what is expected of me. But yeah, I can shapeshift to a certain degree. I'm not very good at it so this is about as much as I can do." He shrugged and smiled a bit sheepishly at her as she went back to messing with the seals. "Yeah, sorry about that. I haven't ever met another sealist before except for my teacher way back in the early years. And I forgot each seal can be altered so that only people the same or higher than it can alter it safely. I was always taught to do that no matter what so that no one can break them but me or people better than me. So I guess I just sort of... Forgot.." He hadn't meant to come off as any sort of better than the girl, quite the opposite really, Luka was probably one of the most humble people around. "So err.. How long have you been doing this?" 精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES say something nice | “….Are sealist really that rare?” Curiosity filtered into her tone. She hadnt believed her grandmother about it being a rare gift. Rare meant more ways to be different. So was having a ‘gift’ but to her it was more less another reason to be different. She hated it, she hated being different. Being singled out cause she wasn’t the same as the others. It made her feel a bit self-conscious at the mere idea of being held in the spotlight.
For some reason she didn’t need to worry about that here. As long as she doesn’t mention anything else. And keep herself firmly glued to the background. Katya was sure she’ll be able to fade into the crowd if this keeps up. “…It happens..” She shrugged, so far the only sealist she knew was her grandmother and now him. Pondering for a moment as she stared at the seal, her gaze settled on the rune meaning void. It was supposed to act as storage compartment but that was proving easier on being watched within an anime rather than in real life. “The only sealist I know is my grandmother…she merely taught me the basics…we really didn’t think I’d inherit any of her abilities. But.. I’ve been dabbling on it for a close year and a half I think…. At least actively…” She hesitated on the last part. “…I was wondering though… couldn’t another sealist add traps in their work to make sure no one else messes with it?

At the question, Luka nodded. "Oh yeah. My teacher had been a master sealist before she... But she said only ten or so sealists exist in the world at a time. So I'd say that's pretty rare. Though, there might be more, might be less. Hell, for all I know she could've been lying to me but she seemed pretty earnest." He listened to her speak about her grandmother and how long she had been doing it. "Oh? Wow. You're doing pretty well for that short of time. My first year of it was a total mess. I could barely even draw a perfect circle. I swear that took longer to master than all the stupid runes." He smiled and laughed a little bit. She paused and then asked him a question to which he nodded again. "Yeah, many have their own traps and tricks. Most of mine explode if they're messed with, causing damage to whoever touched it. Seemed the easiest. But some of them also change into binding traps and force the user to be stuck to that spot. But you can really do whatever you really want to do with them. What are you trying to do with them anyways? These specific seals? Your runes are from a different dialect than the ones I use, so there are a few I'm unfamiliar with..." 精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES say something nice | Listening to him all but confirm her suspicions about traps brought out a cringe from the young girl. So grandmother was right in warning her about dabbling in seals she knew nothing about. She mused internally noting to remind herself never to disregard anything she says from now on. With her having such an insatiable nature for being curious that could have easily spelled in her losing a hand. Or worse… She stopped her thoughts right there, before her imagination decides bombarding her head with images of death and gore.
That’s the only downside to having graphic sense when it came to dark humor. Her imagination follows suite in supplying the necessary images. She already had enough issues with sleep. She didn’t need anymore of it. She sighed, now fully listening as Luka explained while holding down a blush of embarrassment from being complemented about her calligraphy. Maybe she should have clarified that tid bit. “Oh…. Grandmother taught me how to write them way earlier than when I started using them… I honestly taught it was just some cool shapes to draw before…” She admitted sheepishly, glancing down awkwardly. “Using them on the other hand… I still sort of… they still end up exploding.. it’s only now that it’s actually somewhat being stable.” She wouldn’t explain further. It was simply too embarrassing to mention all the mishaps that happened while she was messing around with it.
The one glaring proof of it was glaring at her from her wrist. A mark thankfully covered up underneath her sleeves. She had been meaning to try to get it checked but she knew nothing more about it other than its keeping something back. But maybe…. Her eyes flickered back to his face. Just maybe but still there was a wall blocking her from asking. “Really? That’s pretty convenient… but its better than the normal padlocks I guess….” She murmured. Her gaze drifting back to her circle before hesitatingly pointing out to a rune to a far left. “It’s normally that rune… that’s giving me troubles… I’m trying to take a page from Naruto about storage seals with an inbuilt stasis charm to preserve food..” She murmured somewhat sheepishly. “But I guess it was too advance to try and merge two seals I knew so little about…”

"Aahh.. I see.. Well that's probably why then. Sure, seals in some anime are pretty accurate, but that's the thing... It's just tv. It's hard for normal people to make actual magical things, and while there is a ton of books out there on them. This is all wrong for creating void storage. That's way more complex than this is. You'd need to open a portal to another dimension or reality in most cases. But for something like keeping food in a fridge. You can always cheat the system." He shrugged a bit and drew a quick seal on his wall. He stuck his hand against it once it was completed for a moment until his mini fridge lit up with a seal on it's front, allowing him to reach into his seal and pull out a bottle of tea from the fridge. "Item displacement is much easier for things like that. It's a little complicated, but nothing like that." He put the bottle back in the fridge through the seal before he closed it up and destroyed it. After all it was just a demonstration. "I tend to do that one a lot actually, if I'm too into my studies to be bothered to get up." [googlefont=Philosopher][googlefont=Pattaya][googlefont=Lobster Two]

精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES say something nice | There’s a fine line that exist between reality and cartoons. That Katya knew, she wasn’t naïve in anyway. She grew past that the last time she checked. Naivety wasn’t hers but her sister kept it for both of them. Her sister…. Even now, no matter how long time past the wound festering deep in her chest still throbbed. Unseen as it is, meant no salve can soothe it. It wasn’t physical there was no wound on her body but more it lingered on the inside. Locking it back through numerous doors proved to be a temporary relief.
The more things she added the harder it was to block through the damn of repressed feelings she held back for years. It was all there, everyday it got harder to hide to a point where she began to getting worried about finding another solution to her problems. Which…brought her right back to the present. Cheeks huffed as the girl listened to his explanations. She cursed, inwardly about her brilliant idea in using anime to base her ideas on. She did though have the decency to look sheepish down on her attempted seal.
“Not a good idea then…I forgot the whole ripping a hole into another dimension part…” She sighed softly, guess that’s another seal tossed to the trashcan. Though she could always try to salvage the stasis part. Her ears perked at his mention of an alternative. “Item…displacement?” She queried. Confusion barely masked her curiosity as she stared at him, waiting for him to elaborate on his meaning. He hadnt disappoint, his hands sketched out a seal with practised ease before shoving his hand straight into it. Katya’s eyebrow went up, the longer it stayed inside his seal until his arm pulled out a bottle of tea. “Sugoi…” She whispered in awe before schooling her face right back into its neutral expression. “That’s…interesting...” She tapped the end of her pen to her chin. “I’m not going to lie… that’s a convenient seal might follow that example… it’s a bit of a hassle trying to grab things from the fridge.”

Luka smiled. He hadn't meant to put her down or anything. When it came to seals, he was very very particular, after all, they were practically his life. And in most cases, they literally helped him survive. Many of the complicated seals around his room were for protection. "Ahh. Yess. It is very helpful. Especially during finals." He chuckled a bit, another friendly smile on his face. "Uhh.. Here. I'll draw it up for you." And he went about doing just that, grabbing his notebook and a pencil and sketching it out for her. "One on.. a door or wall or window, whatever you're trying to reach through, and the other placed conveniently wherever you need it to be." He tore the paper from his notebook and folded it carefully before handing it to her. "Are there any other seals that you would like?" 精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES say something nice | Seals were like that depending on their purpose can be use as both for protection or… to cause harm to others. She often mused if it can be incorporated into the medical field. But to find the answer to it would require her to spend time digging through old tomes. Ancient ones that she had no access to at the moment. Sure the internet can easily find the books she needed, acquiring them though was a whole other ball game she just wasn’t all that motivated enough to spend the necessary energy for it.
So she didn’t, she hadn’t. Which is why now… she’s going through this like a blind mouse. Her mind wondered around the room. Seals glimmered through the walls, easily catching the child’s attention every time she peered back through the corner of her eyes. Each seal had a reason…she made it into a game trying to figure out what each one stands for. Their uses, and significance. Luka though, used a different style that she does. She guessed every sealist had their own unique style. The same as an artist, no art is the same. The word final caught up on her ear, making her cringe at the idea of it. “….Not a very pleasant time to be in school for those… but I find midterms to be a lot more vicious than finals.” She grimaced. Biting back as if she bit through a whole lemon at the mere idea of it.
Especially back…at her old school. This time Katya barely held down her form from flinching. Another memory she had pushed back but now threatened to bombard her with images from the past. She really didn’t need to remember any of it right now. She forced herself back to concentrate, watching as Luka worked in silence all while hesitantly offering a small smile in return.
Honestly she didn’t understand herself right now. Why she felt at ease enough with his presence that she didn’t mind his company. Probably her nerves, she chalked it up mostly to her lacking sleep these past few days. “Will it work on bed covers?” She asked. A note of seriousness seeped into her tone. “Arigato for the help…” The child politely bowed her head before lifting her chin up once more. “Though…” She began unsure how to proceed. She rarely did allow herself to speak this much. Mostly because she couldn’t be bothered but now. She found herself most curious. “Are…those protections seals on your walls by chance?...” She continued hesitantly glancing back at the walls. “I remember…seeing something similar from obaa-sama….” Unconsciously a hand of hers quietly rubbed the marked seal over her wrist. It often tingled on different intervals. Sometimes a few times a day but most of the time she ignored it.
